    Hi all,
Just a quick note to say I'm in Texas and we have been experiencing a really unprecedented energy crisis during this massive cold front. I've been without power for more than 48 hours. The news is we are still on rolling blackouts so I've no anticipation how long I will have power right now. Hopefully by the weekend when this cold front ends we will be back to normal.

The power is bad enough but we also do not have water. That is still shut off until a time we can determine there are no busted pipes.

Hope everyone else is doing OK and if you are also caught in the grips of this massive cold front I hope you are having better luck than I am.

OMG Clashstrummer, Been watching the news and I have a friend who lives in Garland, just outside of Dallas, so I know the mess you all are in, I hope and pray that someone can get your power grid up and running and you can get some heat in your houses! Good Luck,
    and take care!

Best wishes for restored power and water and that your area recovers from winter storms soon. We have been blessed that we didn't lose power. I have no way or place to move Mom if we did lose power.

Wow Clashstrummer! Hope you get your power back soooon!!:inlove:

I've also been watching the news, as we get the storms a few days after you, up here in Massachusetts! So far we haven't gotten it as bad - devastating!! - as Texas! (Most likely because our Northern winters can be pretty bad as a matter of course.) My prayers and empathy go out to you wholeheartedly:inlove:....that kind of brutal cold is verrry hard to deal with!:(

I don't know if it is because I live in a small town, but our snow crews are right on top of clearing the roads and maintaining the power grid - so far anyway.
But - just in case - I've holed up in my apartment, have plenty of food and water (and no worries about the refrigerator going out - just pack the food in a box and put it outside on my (frozen) deck!xD), 2 portable power generators, two solar panels, battery run lights, loads of books, several fur throws to curl up in...and gorgeous woodland scenery right out the sliding glass doors - just like a Nature movie!:D
(Wellllll....you know what 'they' say = 'When Life hands you Lemons - make Lemonade!!';))
If it were not such a serious situation, I'd feel like I was on vacation in a winter wonderland!o_O

Texas, however, has not had to be so prepared for such horrible weather!! and is another story altogether.
Prayers and love for you, family, and friends, Clashstrummer,:inlove: and all who are in such jeopardy from the unexpected, harsh, and unusual weather!!:(:(

:inlove::oops:Love to Mom, You and yours, always, Pups!!!:inlove::inlove:

Thanks, everyone for your kind thoughts. :inlove:

I'm doing better than some and not as good as others. I have at least clean water, I just don't have hot water as one of the hot water pipes cracked. Since I don't have physical water flooding my home I'm kind of bottom of the list for repairs. I did make contact with someone who is a friend of a family member and they are willing to drive about 2 hours here tomorrow to take a look and see if they can fix it. So I have my fingers crossed on that.

I did get to take a shower today, the first time since last Sunday, at a neighbors house. So at least I'm no longer stinky with disgustingly matted hair. That has had a very positive impact on my outlook.

Tried to get milk but could not, did manage to snag the last package of bagels. We had stocked up prior to the storm and even with the power out for almost 4 days it was so cold in here I didn't have much food spoil. The obvious things like ice cream of course and some raw chicken I had in the fridge got tossed. It looked and smelled ok but I was taking no chances with it, but little of anything else went bad.

It's as I said I'm doing better than a whole lot of people here.
