I've seen a few posts in the feedback thread from new farmers that are feeling very overwhelmed by the game and endless events they can't come close to finishing.

What I would like to offer is a bit of advice and a lot of encouragement. :)

First on the advice most of the events are not really meant for new farmers. This is a very complex and constantly evolving game. In order to be successful later new farmers really need to focus on first getting established and building their farms. Events are not farm builders they are farm users. Events require you to donate crops/animals that you should already have and then grow/raise event only crops or animals during the allotted time. You will never build a productive farm this way you will simply spin your wheels and get nowhere become frustrated and give up.

The Farmers Society Quests are there to help you build your farm. There are ones that are geared towards newer players and will also help you earn stars to use to open more land, twin breeding and the living legend runes on the tree of knowledge all of which will assist you with future events. In addition to earning CC's, EP's and a variety of other goodies.

Second on the encouragement. Please feel that you can start some discussions and ask basic strategy questions. When I started there were many discussions about just general game strategy that were incredibly helpful to me and other new players. What I see now are only discussions about the current event and nothing else. The "newbie" question area is really only for general technical questions such as "where can I find?" or "why is this happening?" they do not allow strategy questions there.

There are some incredibly generous, smart and helpful long-term players on this forum who would gladly respond with advice, encouragement and help if only you would ask.

I hope this thread is for questions. I have several. :p

I am at level 69, but it feels like 29. I am having problems making enough feed for my animals. Especially anything that uses tree fruit, parrots, pigs, bears, turkeys, etc. I have bought apples a few times, but I go through it soooo fast. How much feed is enough and how much do I need to start making animals.

OK, a lot of related questions.

Hi lilDomi, many of animal feed are actually cheaper to buy than to make, study price of ingredients vs price of feed (and price of actual animal!) carefully.

If you are short of "cheap" tree fruits, like apples, plums or walnuts - buy a whole bunch of the trees in the shop (an apple tree 300 CC) and carpet your whole farm for one night with just apple trees. The next day you'll have a plenty of apples and probably some left over to sell - which will cover some of the cost of buying all them trees.

Hope this helps a little, and please ask if anything else is unclear. Best of luck! :)

Clash I agree with Julie this is an excellent idea!

Now, lildomi in answer to your questions. Let me just say this is meant as advice, everyone should feel free to play their game however they personally enjoy. Part of the issue is you are trying to do too many things at once. It might be better to set a goal for yourself and work to achieve it rather than try to do everything all at once.

What I mean is if you don't have all the magic glade open you might want to focus on tasks that will earn you the stars you need. What I mean is pick an FSQ that will reward you stars, this will give you a direction on what to grow. In the meantime you could also use a small space to exclusively grow apples or you could focus on one crop and sell it in the market to earn CC's to buy apples.

Some of the big tasks that require a lot of planning and patience are, opening more land (magic glade, Baha), the twin breeding rune, living legend rune and gaining access to the cloud rows. Working to accomplish any one of these tasks will move you more forward in the game than going up a level will.

As far as raising animals you might want to focus more on the low level ones where you can easily mill the feed you need. Chickens and rabbits for example always sell well. The bonus side is during an event you can also be selling manure to those that are playing the event. Lots of CC's to be made that way and then you could buy feed or fruit or trees however you want to go.

    Hope this helps you. :)

Question about MM, since it's running now.

I really can't do the event unless I do just the main event, not the side bars. I don't have the trees except for tentacle willow. This is the first MM since I got Pumpkin Jam. I don't have many crops, most are under 100.

I have been working on the Firefly quest. If I just do the silvers I get a gold leaf tree, spooky glowworm field, 2 dark queen apple trees and 2 darklight firefly pens. Only caveat being I had to buy a darklight firefly pen to get the other stuff, but I have gotten a lot without having to buy as much stuff from Jack's shop. I am almost done with getting the 2 dark queen apple trees on step three.

Should I do the last step of Firefly quest or do the companion quest which uses a new MM crop or build up my other MM crops since they are so low? My next major goal is to get the Jack's Back cloud row, even though I haven't opened the stalk yet, or maybe bat breeding to open the stalk, hungry bats are really pricey. :( Advice please.

Edit: I just checked, most of my MM crops are at 55.

LilDomi, my advice would be for you to grow your crops as much as you can. The items you get for the firefly quest are sort of higher up items. You need to build up your overall basic crops and you actually have several days to do so here as opposed to just 24 hours. I wouldn't even bother with the event at all or waste time growing event crop.

Working towards bat breeding is an excellent plan as that will benefit your entire game. I'm assuming you have already built several bat stables to raise the bats to be able to breed them. Although I guess you could also buy bats in the market as well.

You will have to have the magic stalk open before you can use Jack's cloud row anyway so it makes more sense to go for the breeding.

Remember on the cloud row you also have to raise the crops to buy the givers in Jack's store to put on the cloud row.

I know it might seem impossible but it will be easier than you think once you get your base built up. I personally would shoot for 2000 of each item. If you have the free time to harvest asap once the crops are done. If not then try to plant around how often you will be able to harvest.

Hi LilDomi, I would do it a bit different. Those permanent MM quests are going nowhere and can be worked on later. I would work the Jelly Jar Kebab and hope to get some nice prices. There are CAC to get, harvest helpers and even hungry bats that you need too. I would toss in all my MM crops except for the killer tomatoes in the quests and get 5 new ones every 5 hour or so and repeat the action. Those are free.
Of course you will have to build them all up again next event. It's up to you. Just my thoughts. :)

@meba091 MM crops are not like event crops! o_O

If you donate all your MM crops, you WILL NOT get any new ones until next MM!!! :wuerg: Otherwise I agree that feeding the bats would be @lilDomi best strategy! ;)

Can I add something to the thread that I found helped me.

when doing an FSQ I would click on the green flag part of a particular quest then those that have been clicked go into their own area. So if you are waiting for a certain crop, tree or animal to complete quest instead of looking through the FSQs to find that quest if you click on the dropdown part of all quests the ones that you are working on are in one area instead of been mixed with ones not started.
I found it annoying finding which quest I was working on till I noticed I could do that it made it easier.

Hopefully Ive explained it clearly enough to understand

I get this info when delivering all ordinary MM crops. I hope this info is not wrong

I am sorry about the size of this picture  (MODs feel free to make it smaller)
This event runs for several days and many free MM crops can be obtained :p

You need not wait till next event to replenish. It will be 5 seeds within 5 hours. So need to worry. I have done it several times.

But ..... it does say in latest MM event if you run out of crops they will be replenished at next MM but that is for the new crop, so not sure if it applies to thoe already in use

I just donated all of my coral mushroom to an FSQ. I got a pop up that said I would get 5 more seeds in 5 hours. So we will see if that happens. I do think MM in general is an "event" so I do believe it will replenish the seeds but let's just test it shall we?

12ss12 I didn't see your post. Good to know since you do this often. :)

lilDomi as you can see there are many ways to go about this game. Meba's advice is very valid. You very well may get some good stuff from the bats. So as always it's your choice on how to approach it.

Edit: I did just get 5 more coral mushroom seeds so they do replenish just like an event plant. ;)

Found myself in a dilemma this morning. I've been saving for an Arboretum but now that I have the stars I realize it's probably better to use them to open the Living Legend rune and maybe the the Customer Service rune? Are Farm Orders beneficial or is it a waste of time/resources?

    • Is there a post that explains all the shorthand that's used? Gonna need that for those days that my memory refuses to cooperate.
    • Are the type of plots used better than others? (1x1 vs 2x2 and all that) I thought I saw a post about it somewhere
    • In some signatures I notice something about market (i.e Market 19 or Market 21) is that important?
I recently made a very basic spreadsheet listing what stables/workshops and trees I have in my 3 fields and i've decided that I need to remove the workshops so that I can work on building a stock of crops/animals. I've been participating in several of the events and it really does take its toll. Also working on getting Bat Breeding. That's made more difficult since MM runs so short and I can't always log on multiple times a day.

I'd go for Living Legend - saves lugging those trophies around to help with drops. As far as the FHO (farmhouse orders) once you reach a certain level the ep isn't very beneficial and the coins you get are daylight robbery. I got all my customers to Level 5 and now only fill 1 order a day to maintain them at that.
As for fields - 1x1 are more beneficial if you are using PJ (pumpkin jam) or CAC (carrot apple chutney), since they both increase harvest per plot.
Market number is more a point of interest than anything else.

Xevallah, I know some the shorthand can be a confusing. This is a link for basic abbreviations. I would also say when in doubt you can always just ask. :)

As for your other questions it depends on what is important to you and how you play. For me my most important issue was getting that living legend rune open and those trophies out of my field. I could never remember to save a space for them and moving them from field to field was a huge hassle. I haven't done a Farm Order in over a year and even then I only ever donated to the one wanting tree fruit. So I would consider that a waste of stars but I know others would not. For me you simply do not get enough return for the amount of items requested.

As for plots used it makes a difference as to if you have harvester functions or not or if you're willing to click over 200 times a field. As to strategy reasons well here is link to basic event strategies that outlines plot uses.

The market numbers were more relevant a bit ago. There used to be a thread of market bargains found and also some of the players on same markets used to make deals with each other. The market has just changed too much it seems for this to still be going on. So for you I wouldn't worry to much about it just know that for now there are different markets.

There are a few strategy threads at the bottom of the event strategy area that would be helpful. Some of the techniques might have changed slightly as far as earning CC's or EP's but the general ideas are the same.

    Hope this helps you. :)

I decided to go for the companion quest. I planted jelly ear fungus in 2x2s used manure, water, super grow (SG, I think) and Suzy's super grow (SSG, I think). Since jelly ear fungus and killer tomatoes are regular MM crops I decided to do it. I admit the hungry bat as a possible reward tipped the scales. I originally planted all my jelly ear fungus to get started all 10 of them. I got replenished with 5 seeds in about 40 minutes. Also did that with a few other crops that I used to fill the holes, got replenished on only 2 of them. Makes me wonder what is the timeframe. o_O

It's every 5 hours they replenish but it's a set time. Depending on when you emptied your seeds in the cycle will depend on when they get replenished.

Go for the Living Legend rune first!! It really does make it easier and you don't have to remember to move them
