8)What a gorgeous reindeer Frodo has become!! Perhaps he is friendlier to you during the rut because he remembers that you saved his life and cared so much for him?!:inlove: Gandalf is handsome, too, but he doesn't have the same memories or deep gratitude as Frodo might have.....
Some animals never forget the love we have for them.:inlove:

I'm still impressed that the boys can run around with such huge antlers on their heads. :)

Who is that next to Frodo, with velvet on their antlers?

Oh boy, the joys of the RUT.
When neighbours ring at 3am to say they think someone is breaking into paddocks as they have heard huge crashing noises in the middle of the night... and this was in a paddock about 300m away...
No Just Gandalf throwing around 6' long 2' 8" high troughs which, for him, staked with 6" tent pegs and I struggle carrying them but he throws them with no problem and before his girls get to eat! [IMG]

Ok then!! More like a "Raging Bull" he is one very strong reindeer right now...be very careful!

Are those spares - or did you somehow get the troughs out of his area? o_O Poor girls - meal times are so difficult for them at this time!

I hope that Gandalf allows his girls to get some food. He sounds as though he is becoming a real handful, take care!

Don't go there. Having problems as neighbours (to his paddock) kids found it fun winding him up at fence line, parents stressing as he is displaying to them, hmmn not surprised!.... :( I have had to move him into a paddock away from them - this paddock is less secure for me... Blood pressure tablets essential now at feeding time and I no longer have a safe way of removing any girls that become lame by his chasing. Nightmare times as of Sunday.. When you think you have "all ducks in a row", don't bet on it as someone shoots the one in front! :( :)

OMG, Karen... My blood pressure shot up just reading this latest "dead duck". Fingers crossed that the move will settle Gandalfs nerves, a little bit...
Please, please take very good care of you!!

It is a pity that the parents of the children involved didn't stop them! I hope that all stays fairly calm now but as joanc says please be careful.

Oh my! The foolishness of children that find excitement in causing mischief. They have no idea the danger they are playing with. Hope there are no problems with the new paddock and that the girls stay in reasonable condition.

Katya. This was 5 days ago. She is now on day 5, so chance of survival has increased from 25% to 50%. Her temperature peaked at 40.4 yesterday morning, now 40.1, not great but vet feels if her intestines were punctured she would have stopped eating and would already have died. She has many internal sutures and we are doubling the length on time on antibiotics.. She is already having a dose for 100kg while she's only 75...

Due to having to move my bulls closer together, they have collided (worst case scenario) when one bull smelt that a girl was in season he jumped to get to her. Bull on bull fight and Katya found herself in the middle.
Damage to skin looks superficial but massive tears internally to the peritoneum She has undergone a couple of hours surgery today and only a 25% chance of surviving peritonitis.. Devastated.. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed.
She is up now TG but took 2 hours to recover from sedation. but tbh in the next 7 days we will probably loose her. [IMG]:(

Keeping everything crossed and throwing in a few prayers for good luck! Take care and I am praying Katya makes it through as she seems to also have the "will to live!"

So sorry to see her damaged as a result of bull vs. bull. Hope she recovers. I know you have the best vet you can find for your darlings and I know you will do all you can. Thoughts are with you at this time.

Katya is doing brilliantly TG her chance of survival was slim... but thankfully only an infection in her abnomical cavity and not a perforated gut, or at least that is what it seems as she is still alive at day 9!! :) Go Katya!
I don't think I shared video here. It is thought that reindeer cycle approx every 20 days but for only 24 hours and don't show signs.... apart from Mischa - she did this to me a few years ago when out on display, very embarrassing!
