    when there is a moonlight event...one coming up pretty soon so i am led to believe. then they open up for you to grow crops and trees and some spooky animals.
    the one area that is always open is only for your spooky giver items.

    Hello roses_are_rosie,

    As upa70 stated, the Moonlight fields are only available during Moonlight Mania mini-events and Halloween related Events. The Haunted Manor is available all the time and you can place spooky-related givers/pets there. You can see in the February Preview Calender when the next Moonlight Mania mini-event will occur.
