A lot of folks would like to give things to newer players during gift and trade, but don't want to spend BB to do it.

What about offering 1-2, license that are only good to give to people below level 50, and that are only for specific items, for example.. only deco items that offer less than 100 EP and less than 25 CC, only regular animals and workshops.

These could either be not offered for sale at all (just offered as a free bonus)
or offered for far less than the regular gift licenses.

AND.. PLEASE do not just decide that since this refers to G & T it is the "same" as every other idea having anything at all to do with G & T. Combining so many very different ideas, just because they refer to the same event is confusing, distorts any real discussion and is just not appropriate.

Since I have so many of the unusual animals I sent one to each of my neighbors below fifty today too woody and wondered that myself! Good idea! After all its the next generation of player that will keep this game in Business!

This is a good idea since you are giving the items away free why should you have to use your licenses?

An alternative method would be to have a the Gift and Trade changed to show Gifts, Sales, Trades a new section Giveaways or Gratis. In the Gratis section the farmer would use their licenses to list the items that they have on their Wish lists. If they do not receive the item the license is returned. This would cut down on the amount of posts on the G&T Wish List where other farmers are trying to barter before posting the trade request. You don't always know what someone wants for their rare tree/stable or maybe one of the rare EP givers.

New farmers may not have many licenses but maybe they could be offered for sale, the licenses gifted or maybe they will just have to wait. You can't always receive immediate gratification.

An alternative would be to donate items to Farmarama Charity (they could be picked up by the train) and then they would be won by farmers at the Farm Wheel.
Farmers would receive (or get from Events) Spins that they could use. The Farm Wheel would have to be modified to show: Normal spins, Party spins and Charity spins. Further since these items are donated by the players they could be divided into categories: The levels could be divided up into multiples of 25 - anyone at below level 25 would be eligible to spin for items that were donated Level 25 and below. A Level 26 player would luck out and be eligible for donated items up to Level 50, etc. The train would also have to be modified to show that it is the Charity or Donation train so that players would not think they were getting something in exchange.

I originally wanted to be able to accumulate points on the train so that I could clear out my inventory and get an idea I needed but no dice.

I need to clarify that am definitely not talking about trades, here. Unofficial "trades" are allowed, but not really encouraged, because there are always those who don't follow through on the trades. If you do it, its "at your own risk". There is a clear disclaimer for that reason that if you give something, no one is going to help you if you don't get what you want. The gifts are supposed to be gifts, not backdoor trades, even though I am among those who have definitely traded, quite happily. I want to clarify because I don't see Farmerama doing anything to make that process easier since they don't really want to encourage it.

I am strictly talking about low level donations to members who are new.. in most cases, really too new to maybe know much about the game. In fact, I guess the big holdback is that its hard to find those members, but that is another issue. Also, I am not talking about huge numbers of tickets, just a couple extra. I (and most higher level players) often donate pens to low level neighbors, but it might be nice to kick in a few extra items that we don't want and could give away, but that are not worth buying a gift ticket to do.

this is an interesting idea, but is independent.. you might post your own thread on it. It is something like an idea I posted earlier to let people who are leaving do a kind of "mass donation".

Anyway, I think you would be more likely to get attention if you put it in a new thread, but that is totally up to you, of course.

That said, it might be nice to have a kind of lottery donation for the new players in G & T. I don't think the train would work in conjunction simply because of the dynamics -- when too many things are ongoing at once, it messes up the game functionality. We wind up with crashes and game slow downs. However there could be some way of offering something to the newest players who are not yet ready to participate fully in G & T. (or who might be "ready", but not able to do much)

gifts should be free for lower level players than the one sending

I guess my reason for suggesting the train was that it would be an anonymous gift from a higher level player. Since the train takes it to the Farm Wheel for distribution the receiver would not know who provided the Donation or Welcome to the Neighborhood item(s). How frequently it occurred would depend on the number of donations received.

I've seen a number of comments in the past re gifting free items to people so I don't feel the need for a separate thread. Sorry if my comments were misunderstood and you felt I was intruding on your space.

No offense at all. Sorry if it seemed that way. I like your donation idea, but thought it was something more general and deserved its own thread.

I'm not sure about this idea, but the thing I find strange in the trade list, if someone wants multiple items in exchange for their item, then the person requesting the trade should give multiple licences, not the one sending the items
