    Snickers,
I am still humming one eyed one horn flyin purple people eater, one eye....
Yeah we ended the beaver issue, let the kids set up amps rented a trailer and generator and let them have at it for a week right next to the debris pile <beaver house> Some reason them rodents hit the road, talk about ungrateful!
    Heavy metal/kids=wild life gone forever.

Yeah, they would almost need to have a hard hat beaver in the mix, but they are family geared so a apron wear'in one to show mom wouldn't be out of the mix.

    spotsbox,
Naaaa no issue... none that 6 amps, 5 guitars, 6 bases and teens with nowhere to practice can't get rid of.:p
Now, only if it was that easy to get rid of the buck tooth rare tree people.....beavers, fine things, a rodent that got it self a gold free ride ticket.

Hmm... a lot of anti beaver sentiment. While I can understand your complaints, a LOT of the complaints have to do with our general poor attitudes toward stream management. Not getting into a full hyrdo-stream ecology lecture here, but just saying. The real truth is that beavers give far, far more to us than they take in the long run, its just that we have decided we need to build in their territory. They actually can reduce flooding overall, increase farming potential, etc. That is part of why they are protected.
PS I have NO tolerance for PETA.. 90% of their info is utterly misinformed, what isn't just wrong tends to be grossly exaggerated, though many of the people involved are well-intentioned. (anyway.. I digress as well)

Anyway.. hope you enjoy the new breeding event, whether it is beavers or not.

Beaver do offer some benefits, it's true, including creation of riparian areas and some wonderful creek fishing. However, they can be incredibly destructive, devastating entire stands of trees, causing stream bank erosion by eating all the willows that are needed to prevent it and digging feeding runs deep into banks (spoken by someone who's broken thru into more than their fair share of runs :p:wuerg:; if there's a hidden tunnel, I can find it;)xD), flooding roads and fields, and plugging irrigation canals and equipment. I live in an area that is extremely sensitive to stream bank conservation and management, and I know for a fact that beaver are at the top of the list as far as damage control concerns. We have rancher and farmer friends who constantly battle to keep their roads and ditches from flooding and their pipes and pumps unclogged due to continual influx of beaver colonies. The solution to the problem isn't to completely wipe out a population, one because that's never the correct answer, and two because it simply doesn't work. What makes an area attractive to one colony will make it just as attractive to new mating pairs looking to start their own colony. Nor is the answer to let them be or relocate them, as animal rights activists often advocate. As already stated, more will just take over the ready-made housing opportunity, and overpopulation and the associated plights that go with it (diseases such as tuberculosis being one) make this an unrealistic solution, not to mention costly. As with all wildlife management, the proper course of action (at least in my humble opinion) is one of moderation, by maintaining, thru multiple conservation techniques, a reasonable population without going too far one way or the other. I realize this is a hot button topic, but I am a believer in making intelligent decisions based on sound and reasonable information, not emotion. In regards to humans taking over beaver territory, I would say they are much like coyotes and cockroaches - they can and do adapt and survive quite well, regardless of where man decides to intrude. Consider that in the 1800s, most of the beaver were trapped out in the Rocky Mountain states here in the US, but did not become extinct and are again thriving. As for doing more good than harm, I would simply make this point. A beaver colony can be completely cleaned out in a season, and within two years it will be totally repopulated and growing exponentially. How long does it take a tree to grow? Not trying to start any arguments, as I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even if I vehemently disagree with them. Just hoping to impart some facts to a topic that is far too often ruled by misinformation and strong human emotions.

Enough of that,:p. Barely done with neon breeding, and already looking forward to making lots and lots of baby beaver xD. So would the beaver on the log be a lumberjack? And the other one looks like he's playing hackysack to me :D.
