Very good suggestion Nellie, Thank you. I just checked the market here and how right you are:)
Oh and I like your holly sprigs( so festive) in the last post but perhaps you could edit the earlier post, combining the two (#120 & 121) so you may avoid a double post warning.:)

Finally got some good farming time in this morning :p Drops seem to be pretty good even though I've left my fields sitting ready a few times.... I'll have to try Brooke's sneaking off for a bathroom break xD
I've fed 40 penguins so far and have gotten an extra Sweet Beak and a couple of Draco stables :)
    Good luck to all :)

    Welcome to the forum!
I would say don't worry about not being able to finish. Do what you can, have fun and don't stress too much.
Farmerbroke's advice is good for the absolute best way to move up in level. However, doing events is fun. This one is a good "low risk" event for getting your "feet wet". You can get some return no matter how much you participate and, as noted above, since you are not earning all that much EP from your stables yet, are not losing that much (in my opinion) by participating, particularly if you keep moving forward on selling manure, etc. However, as you will hear often, there is no "one correct way" to play (with all respect to the very successful broke family ;) ). Some people mostly grow crops, some mostly grow animals or trees. Some use the market heavily to sell high and then buy what they need when low. Some like to grow everything themselves without buying much of anything. Some people invest real money. Some play as they can for free. Some people like to do all the events and farmer quests, some prefer other goals. Most people do some combination of all of those or change over time as their goals/real life change.

If you do wish to do the event, try to not just do the cookies. You can move up to level 22 (where you get cherries) pretty quickly. Also try to open Baharama (the island), sugar cane and cinnamon statues. Both of those will help you in the long run, regardless, and are needed to finish this event. I once tried a second farm and was able to go from level 0 to level 40 in less than a week (growing chickens, then rabbits, selling high priced event needs) so it definitely is possible.

Also.. pay attention to the grapevine for hints on upcoming events. That might help you in planning as well.

PS -- sending you some honey banana jam to help you level up, but can only send 1 item a day.

I am NOT losing my mind over piddles of drops.
I have too much going on this week and no days off. Sooo, I set out the 1x1's loaded & buffs for 2 rounds and got 360 of each before work and...
I cheated. I broke down and bought the large basket. Cop out? yes! normally I don't buy anything.
One thing I've noticed is Trees are giving fair amount but the workshops are giving a lot of drops. My field of Ostrich and Turkey shops gave 29 of them so I put them on overdrive with PF. I want to finish so I can eat, drink, and be merry.

Thanks to everyone for the help! I've decided to try the event to see how far I can get. Just can't resist the idea of getting stuff from giving gifts to penguins!!! Now that's something I never thought I'd say;)

Grew cardamom overnight so now growing anise. Then time to make some cookies! I've shot up to lvl 19 and just posted in the thread looking for neighbors. Hopefully some will come along soon and give me more land to farm. I've also hedged by leaving my chickens out and rushing them and their poo to market. That's a quick 15k!!

Ps - thanks woody for the honey banana jam.

My gosh this event is slow going:oops:, I haven't even won the stables yet... should be happening in the next 30mins after this AM's milling is finished tho.

Sorry Bhodho, I'm not sure what it does. I got a pop up that mentioned all of the prizes including the egg warmer, but I also tried and can not locate it in my inventory.

The egg warmer is in the barn under 'other'.
I think you need a pet to put it on.

I think it incubates a pet? So you need to put it on a newly bought pet?
I don't really know! Never encountered one before.

    Ah, here you go:
"Can I shorten the incubation time?
Yes. You can use the egg warmer to reduce the incubation time of the pets, from 168 hours to 1 hour."

It's under the FAQ for pets.

All plants grown, so just waiting on drops now - long term plants in and off to enjoy the hols with my family, with minimal logging in - a well executed plan I feel. Good luck to everyone else, may the drops be with you.

Could not get to write on forum for a bit, what else is new:sleepy: but got kick out and when got back on I got flying bats again!!! my single base bat on ming had no bats for the last 3 days and the game gave me Xmas prizzie my bat base now has bats again sweet 8)8)

This event has proved to be nice with goodies, but ming is now going chicken I will keep some fields going with event crops but after playing over 10 hours ming has proven not to have what it takes, please do not send ming any drops unwanted step child farm will be going for CC's manure is 25.00 a unit and still rising so still a win!

Keltic farm says thank-you one in all that have been sending me drops I really could not have gotten this far without you's!

Is it just me, or I am the only one finding it very tedious to feed all of these silly itty-bitty gift giving animals? Geeeeeze, nothing like being stuck to the 'puter at the WORST time of year! Thanks BP -.-

(Sorry, this prolly belongs in the feedback section rather than here in strategy, but on a strategic side note... I think I'll be milling/feeding as I go from now on, or at least in smaller batches, instead of milling/feeding all at once. Spending tons of time using up all my cookies, candied apples and candy canes is way too counter-productive for me during this Holiday week):sleepy:
