Brookeham & woody, Thank you for your thoughts and supportive words. I would like to try my hand at rearing a chick & know I will learn a few lessons along the way. :) Brookham you may be getting more then a few messages, remember you offered! xD
When I get back on the 26th I will have a warm & toasty nest ready for my 1st chickadee :inlove:

twinkle - Have a safe & fun trip. I look forward to hearing from you! But I have a feeling you will do very well as a mentor! ;)

Hi twinkle - I think you will be fine as well to being mentoring. I would probably suggest that you let your new chicks know how to find the forum so they can start learning to be 'independent' and possibly mention that you will be gone a few days and will check on their progress upon your return. They can always come to the forum and post a question if they need help. Remember many of us began playing this game long before the mentoring program was established. It is helpful but not absolutely essential. Good luck!

I am loving being a mentor, even though none of my chicks have ever responded. I just keep gifting them and sending them a mentor tip message everyday ;) until their thermometer turns red. After that, I send them a goodbye note once I finish filling my love points meter :). I have never had a chick stick with the game yet .
It is great to hear how other mentor's are doing, thanks for sharing :D

In most cases sure, but like your words, the loss of everything made me open a 2nd farm, keltic could no longer get on forum<3rd party> and no way was I going to lose my goodies! so I opened ming just for yapping:p
Then..... the plain fields got to me......I tried not toooooo but it began, I planted-.-next thing I knew :p xD
My yapping account has me messing up left and right-.- So as one doing two that really should not, don't do it unless forced!!!!
Stick with what you can do, as my old forum words said, I know just enough to stick my foot in my mouth every other day.xD
Just get use to sending them to the forums along with your best ans.
I don't know if this is good as none of my chicks have let out one cheep little peep let alone a question.

well, I wasn't going to accept a chick until I came back from my days off, least that is what I said...lol I must have clicked the egg , not meaning to and got the bright lights big city aspect going on.. then a whole few seconds later I got my 1st chick ! Thus far He/she is a quiet little one.. but has gone up a level..I have sent 2 gifts and 2 messages so far. I will send another letting them know I will be gone a few days.

Let them know (if you have not already) that they are free to IGM or post in the forums for help, too.

Still no word from my chick, but they have gone up another level. I did send the a message about the forum and how to get here & also told them I will be away a few days. Will head over to the FAQ's for a read. Can anyone tell me about the chick menu, when you click on a chick from the neighbor list on their menu it shows send gift, send message & a blank spot, What is that blank spot for? ( I have been sending igm and gifts through the roost) Just curious is all.

    Hi twinkle,
If you compare the side menu from the neighbor's avatar, you will see the options for gift, message, delete (can), and the icon that you click when your neighbor levels up so you share in some EP points. You cannot delete a chick or collect level up points from the neighbor/chick menu, it is done in the chickadee roost. That is why you see the blank spot....hope that helps:)

Maybe, in addition to being a certain level, folks should have to complete a very basic quiz before being a mentor?
Things like knowing where the forum is, how various other parts of the game work?

Actually, I am going to make that a suggestion.

Hi, I returned from my days off and checked on my little chickadee, still no word from them but they did increase in level (up to 11 now) ::) and they did send me a pheromone. I have sent a few messages, getting to the forum, making cc from poop during events, where to find gifts and a few friendly messages. I can see what each of you has stated now, it is hard to know how to help or advise them when your not sure what their up to. I have sent a few chicken pens, an egg farm and today a rabbit stable. My meter bar is going up and I have collected bonus points so far but I am sorta at a loss on how best to help, I will keep up the communication as best as I can, with my chick just sending messages about helpful tips I have found from these threads and old mentor messages. Thanks! for providing help.
    Any other suggestions?

I had my first chick leave the nest today. (sniff, sniff) I've got another one that is leveling up slowly but has not responded to any IGM's.

Well done Clash, mine have all just dropped off playing despite my best efforts. My chatty chick is now slipping down the scale and I keep getting new ones that are already flashing red, but such is life I suppose. I've been giving chicken/wheat/manure tips at the moment. I would send crafting trade items but not until I know for sure that they are playing/listening.
