The Peacock is one of oldest animals in the game yet also the one with the least use. The animal is the only regular farm animal that has not been included in breeding. There is no related product and only a single use:
    1. The Peacock may be contributed to any of the 15 steps of the Farming Contest which is the animnal trophy (EV is 340).
I named my favorite priceless peacock Mingling after our dear friend.

    The Peacock chain:
    1. Produce blueberry (10 hrs no water)
    2. Mill three Blueberrie for one peacock feed (6 mins 36 seconds no mill subscription)
    3. Pen to produce the peacock with feed (15 hrs 30 mins, 4800 ccs at level 54, no water or buffs)
The Peacock and the Peacock feed and the Blueberry, which has other uses, all have a market value. I vaguely remember a single call for peacocks quite a while ago.

What is your strategy and why? I loved all the Anaconda thoughts and strategies and now can't wait to read the thoughts and strategies about this bird.

Aww, :inlove:you have me blushing over here. Thank-you:D.
To me, the peacock being worth nothing as to breeding or a quest animal is just fine.
Not all things we have around us serve a purpose, why should the game?
It could be used at a whim of the game or not, but the whole idea behind the what if adds to it’s beauty for me.
Twist and turns, hidden doors, do I have enough should I make more?!? To buy or not to buy maybe only if I knew.
I love not knowing the pull to try and figure it out makes up a lot of my fun here.
I hope they will always have a "peacock" in the works.

    Edit:
OOPS:oops: forgot you asked for my game plan and strategy.
I am at a stand still in the game right now. I got my 1st round of goals done for the game but now at a crossroads as to what path is right for me next.

So while I watch the butterflies flitter around, feets up ice tea in hand, I am building up not only my star/GB, but my rare animals . And yes the peacock will travel up and build it’s numbers as one never knows if it will be needed.
It is slow, hurts as I itch to grow them chickens, the ting tickle jingle song sings in my ear8) I stand fast, I must build the barn.

I have seen a peacock pen pop up here and there on the wheel lately. Prices have been rising in my market. It's the last regular animal left without breeding. I have started stockpiling them, just a 'what if' feeling. ;) I do think they will eventually be a breeding animal with a product, it's just a matter of time.

Interesting thread, and the comment that it's the only regular animal not for breeding! I've had suspicions about it for some time, but I'm not as good at strategy as you, dear Broke.:)

I agree JJenks, and have kept a pen out when possible, as I like to plan for the long term. Wonder if there will be a "fan factory" someday?;)

I'm with JJenks - I have always kept one pen out just in case and the prices are going silly at the moment so I've been cashing in a little here and there, but like to keep my stock at 500.

Hmm my strategy...I just checked my inventory…I don’t even have a peacock pen [IMG] [IMG]
Maybe I did sometime and sent it with the train? I don't know. But I don't produce peacocks so most likely I never bought a pen...lol
So I guess my strategy is NOT producing them at all:p Why? They take too long to produce and there has been no need so far...

I find it more beneficial to produce other animals preferably using colored pens if possible. I get more animals from each feed doing that and I can sell them in the mkt and buy the bird and still have coins left....well I used to do so...lately Peacocks have more than doubled in price...I wonder why?....Maybe somebody opened their eyes:music:
I buy them because I play the what if game as much as I can afford and I love it - it's the fuel that keeps me going...yet makes me crazy tooo_OxD

I do think that BP has a purpose for them...

Ahh Broke, you mean those beautiful peacocks may get out of the barn to see the light of day, I had given up on them, forgot all about them.. shame really. There was a time when I bought a bunch of animals from the market, they were very cheap back then, :) not like now:wuerg:I realize you can't produce everything in which the game may put out a call for, and the market then comes into play. I do still like growing? no raising some animals, yes.. ok a bunch of my own... why.. silly reason, I like the look of the stables, they are well designed, cute actually and make me happy. And did I mention I hate growing crops?! I used to keep the animations on but it's a draw, but will still flip the button on every once in awhile just to peek at them playing around. Tally sheets were left, my handy dandy notebook is way out dated... After reading here, I did check out the prices of the pretties and also the feed, snapped some feed as yes your right those blueberries are a bit much.
MY strategy, probably not the best, watch, learn, pick, hopefully not mess up. ack, that's all I got..
As far as a workshop associated with them, the fans area great thought Willow! Personally, I'd kinda like to see a fine long feathered quill writing pen :D The olden day kind. Calculated or what "if-ed" a bit of both would be just a fine mix.

@ Meba, excellent point on the colored stables ! :inlove: that 2 for one deal!

They are needed every once in a while for events. I seem to remember needing them for a comic quest one of the few times I tried them. Other than that, they can be donated for trophies, but I don't think they are the most cost-effective donation.

Mostly, I just grow them and then, occasionally sell for a minor profit.

.... like the feather pen idea... or maybe fancy hats?

Like all animals, my strategy is to get to 1000 of each and then just buy up bargains - this farm is almost there with the exception of the five or six newer animals. I did intend to sell any animals when they were in great demand but then I would have to start saving to get to a 1000 again (and it takes so long in between events!) ... so unless the prices go really silly, I sell any excess over 1000 and keep 1000 in the barn. :music:

As for Peacocks, they are one of my favourite animals, next to those pretty Butterflies. I would love it if they were introduced for breeding. :inlove:

You mentioned Anacondas - I have 1000 (just) of them on this farm and a tad below on Chevrefeuille - I bought most of them cos I hate feeding them my Chickens and Rabbits. There was a time when you could buy them for about 1000 CCs, I just wish I had bought more then! xD

Remember a few years ago when BP gave us a survey about which animals we wanted to see as breeding animals and in what order? Peacocks were on that list, and to my knowledge are the only ones who haven't become breeders yet. I've been buying/growing them a little at a time ever since that list came out, with the thought in mind that sooner or later BP'd get back to them;). I'm no broke, but I have managed to accumulate about 2200, so I'm ready if they do get to breed. I like all the ideas for the production pens, I can imagine the graphics, they would be stunning!:inlove:

@illy, I know what you mean, I used to buy them at about 800 CCs on a regular basis, now I think I'm doing good if I can find them at 1200. Of course, everything seems to have fallen victim to inflation lately:p, have you seen the price of cheese?:wuerg:

Thank you very much for your strategies and comments. They will be kept in mind going further.

Presently I am doing nothing regarding the finished peacock holding just over 45,000. I am often tempted to cash in but continuing to hold and buy very cautiously and rarely anymore.

Peacock feed has risen largely due to speculation regarding the peacock and no related product thus increasing the demand. My feed level has remained at over 18,200 for a long while. Also the price of blueberry has risen due to sudden activity with the Alchemist craft. Holding over 255,000 I will not sell now.

This farm has not produced peacocks in a long while. It holds 128 pens. Production time is fast approaching again.

My strategy has been to bypass the only event call I remember as I wanted barns to empty of cheap peacocks. Nor has it run peacock feed in the mill in a while. The farm has a few blueberry refinements and the blueberry will be produced strategically during events. The farm will hold where it is.

You know it's post like this that keep me going back to the market to try again.-.-
Now, I really am broke as I am trying a market move/got sick of waiting for a good skip/refinement list to do had blueberries 4 more down/and not have my pens going enough!

I will get this, just this time around I will be in the back for a bit.... will need time to get all the CC back.:music:
:sleepy: The only feed I got in them numbers is chickens...... man, back to the archives and a lot of reading......

    @mingling
I am not suggesting anyone play any part of the peacock chain but only realize there is a definite chain.

I know you refer to bats often. The bat has a chain also. I choose not to play the basic bat heavily (hold 2,907). I do choose to play albino bats (holding 8,016) and bat feed (holding 35,074).

The peacock chain is there. And borrowing your words:

You have your style of play. No hurry hurry.

Some like to look at ccs and I see no problem with that. I also know that during inflation if one does not selectively hold inventory they are loosing. In effect, there is a holding period gain that if one does not hold anything then one will not receive the benefits of holding. Each to their own.

For example, all 35,074 bat feed were acquired below 120. At the time I did not know what I know now, no one was talking about it, and the investment stopped me. I could not move forward because my ccs were sunk. Now over two years later and bat feed long forgotten about, I look at the price and can easily take advantage of the holding gain. And it takes forever to mill.

The same thing with kangaroo feed (holding 37,234). Takes forever to mill, kangaroo have been out a while now, not a breeding animal, and no cheap feed then pay. And "will need time to get all the CC back..."

    Yeah, I got a bit of a bat thing.....:p

I read your words, see your numbers, and I just know my area is in there, where I can walk out do a couple of mill. buys and be able to make it back in no time.
That is what I am aiming for. I will never be a guru, not even fortune 500 farmer but I could be a play as I pay farmer.
Now that is what I am aiming for, not waiting till I got the CC to go out and hope for a deal or two but to be able to see a deal buy it up and know I can play up the CC in no time.
If I was the type of farmer I hope to be the Bat issue I just had would not have cut me off at the knees <as it did> I will take months to recover, but if I was savvy enough at market play I would have brushed off the dirt said nice one and have the CC back by morning.8)
I will keep stalking you, I want to learn, and as I do I slowly raise my beast and grow my crops till I figure out the sell to hoard more way.

So sad to learn there is not much use for peacocks, I don't have any pens yet and I guess I'm wait a bit longer before I invest. I still need to build up my stock of animals but will focus on those with an identified need. I've been trying to get 500 of each but now see that is woefully low. I am humbled by some of your barn levels...Aaah someday!!!!

I traded for a peacock pen on 'gift-and-trade', a while back, not realizing that they were available to buy for a 'mere' 4800ccs! Oh well. I only gave up a wolf den or somesuch ....

Nuts, I think I'm flush if I have over 2000 of an animal (which I rarely do:p, except chickens, for obvious reasons;)). And feed? I usually mill my own, unless find a good deal on something, so those levels will never be attained by me. I don't see myself ever being in broke's league, but I value his insight and tutelage.:inlove:
