G & T a little disappointing

Hey Meba...yes food for thought...The pink being offered for the , literally ---no exaggerating , was for a reg pink pen. not for a bahamarama. It was obviously for something I didnt have...so it was probably for a donkey cook forge. I just think when u post an absurd request like that...are u really interested in trading. u can weigh the cost of power feed vs the number of trades-CC's and licenses that it would take to get 52...thats a lot of work and very difficult. I didnt even consider the option.

Yes...in the past there have been shady deals. It just seems to be kicked up a notch....nm56 pointed out...if u want to see the value of an item u have to leave the market...find the item and then hope its still in the market. I noticed opening people offering Santa's helpers for ridiculous request. now someone might think thats a great trade but it only has so many uses/ I did post in the suggestion area....who knows...

 

I don't think that is possible or even fair because G&T is like the market - it's all about supply and demand. When a new item is added everybody wants it but not so many have it and therefor you can make a trade in your favor having it - people are willing to pay a higher price to get it. And I find it fair too because those having it most likely have paid real money to get it.
The same goes for older items no longer available to buy or an item from an event (needed for a CR) - there only are a certain number in the game and if people want it they sometimes have to dig deep in their pockets to get it.

The prices on new tree fruits and animals are also reflected in the mkt. If you have them you can make a lot of ccs which I believe also is considered when trading and part of the supply and demand. They are needed for new quests.

I consider red stables to be really good. But if you look at the number of red bats listed in G&T you can get them for almost nothing. Why? Because BP have tossed red bats at us in the party wheel and many don't have enough basic bats to use the upgrade either. So demand is low and supply high, but that doesn't make the red bat stable any poorer. It is still a good upgrade in my opinion.
At this G&T and the previous I have been trading to get 44 red bats because I want a field full. Getting the red bats is no problem, but getting the basic bat is a problem! Why? Because you have to grow MM crops and trade them for a regular bat pen in Jacks shop - high demand and low supply! I have even traded red upgrades to get the basic. If that trade had to be balanced by some value it would not have been possible for me to get the basic pen because the basic pen most likely would be valued lower than the upgrade. The upgrade is a better stable than the regular, but you need the regular to use it!

I still believe that if you buy pf to make the pink production pen it will cost you more bbs than the value of the trees + the tickets (I think you can get 44 tickets for 56 bbs, but I cannot remember). You need 2 of the highest breeding animals to make it! Doing it for that amount of bbs you will have to be really really lucky on your skips to make the production pen.
But is not only about bbs.

A pink cook forge is a reward in Soupnfriends and as I said you can also make it by using only ccs. You cannot get a honey tree for ccs. You cannot even get a Honey tree from the seedlings anymore, so asking for them specifically is asking for a lot - supply and demand! I was really just pointing out the possibility that the person listing the offer may or may not be greedy - depending on how the person got the pink production pen and only considering the cost like mentioned above - bbs.

I would not consider the offer either - I do think it is priced too high. Just like in the mkt people list at too high prices and the listing goes back the barn - like this offer will go back. But they list at G&T because it cost them nothing and they have a hope they just might get lucky.

I do not get upset about all the trashy offers. Just like I do not get upset about high priced listings in the mkt, because I can't do anything about it. It has always been like that. And the new search function in G&T makes it possible for me not to have to go though page after page after page after page....

 

The great thing about the Santa helpers is that they can go on cloud rows and were free gifts. None of the 1x2's offered now, or since them can go on cloud rows. It's why they are so sought after.

 

Exactly. I get it supply and demand totally. I agree. I just had some chuckles when looking at what people wanted...1st frustrated then laughed it off & Moved on...love your insight

 

I hear what you're saying Meba but there's probably only a small percentage of farmers who understand the market and G&T to the depth that you do. Most of us are probably not that well versed and that does put us at a disadvantage. But I'm not complaining, I can certainly invest the time to try to figure it out month by month if it were more important to me and it isn't. Using a game value to balance the trades, I admit, isn't a perfect solution, just a start for making it a better market that all players can participate in even without extensive knowledge of the "worth" of every item. Game values are only part of the equation, making every item, i.e. wonder and special trees and stalls, ever put into the game available for purchase (except event crops) would go a very long ways towards balancing supply and demand and game values I think. I never liked that many permanent items are offered only once and never made available for purchase, but then again, that was never that important to me either.

I hear you too Saina and I know it's not easy judging an offer especially not for newer players. I just don't believe in the game value for G&T...

Ironically enough, that is precisely what they were doing when they eliminated the jumbo trees, giving out howie donuts, etc. And...people are now disappointed not to get them. Since there is no real competition here in this game, I am not sure how important "balancing" really is.

As for the value of things... really, each person values things differently, AND your value of things changes through time. I won't consider trades that made me jump for joy in the past. (things like trading a pen for a tree.... I already have several of all the trees available) At the same time, I am willing to trade some things I would never have considered trading away before. (like a pink pen for a howie donut).

 

I see your point. On the other hand, Farmerama has many very dedicated players and G&T is an important part of the game. Your suggestion would ruin G&T completely for many players, and for some it would ruin the whole game

Edit: Not completely true if we could still trade freely with gift licences. But that relies on finding someone to trade with through the forum and agreeing on the trade, which is not always easy. I, by far, do most of my trades through the official trade system.

Depends on what pink pen it is. With a pink baha pen for instance, I would agree with you. If it was a pink duck pen on the other hand, then you got the worse part of the deal.

 

I do agree with you Mir, there are many players who invest the time into figuring out the worth of items and what makes for good trades and they shouldn't be penalized for that. Like I said, it's not a perfect solution and probably not even a good idea but it would be nice if smarter heads than mine could find a way to balance the scales a bit more to accommodate the ignorant like myself. I do think those scales are weighed too heavily in favor of those who understand the worth and the sheer numbers of items available make it too much of a daunting and time consuming task. I gotta say tho, it probably sounds like I care more about the issue than I do, honestly I really don't. I do a quick look through the trades and if I see something I really want I grab it and don't worry much about the cost. I've had bad trades but it's just a game and I get over it.

 

No, I was quite happy.. and that is my point. Things change as you move on in the game. Only you can judge what things are worth to you.

I would definitely not want farmerama to set many trade limits, mostly because their determinations, based on things like the donation value, BB costs and such are not what I would consider "correct".

I have suggested elsewhere that there be limits for lower level players only. Or, to even have a separate G & T market for newbies with more limited trading and cheaper gifting. Those are the only ones I am concerned about being cheated -- someone offering an elm tree for a pink pen, for example.

 

These are just a few thoughts to throw in the ring. I think it might be fun to consider them.....

How many play Bingo, or buy Lottery tickets, or play any other game of chance?? G&T has always been like that. People take a chance to get what THEY want....and if they do...they have offered/accepted the trade, whatever it is....and should be happy with it. Because they WANTED it - they agreed to part with whatever was asked. Why does it always have to be about $$$'s or CCCC's??? Or equal or balance. We get what we are willing to trade for.
I have offered, and traded for, things I knew I was losing on - but, oh! the Joy of getting what I wanted!!
And the equal Joy of knowing how someone else will feel when they find the bargain I offered!! Two-for-one Joy!! Imho, this is a part of the fun of G&T!!

Remember how Gooood it felt to find that r-e-a-l bargain?? WooHoo!!!! Yes - we all know the feeling!! That's why we have a thread called "Market bargains!" And don't we love to rush to that thread and post how we got this or that for....oh, say...Ten Cents!!! LOL!! Yes we do - we LOVE it!!

And isn't that one of the major reasons that makes us all love G&T??! (Besides the gifting, of course.)

Not all the fun things in life are about being equal or balanced. Some things are just FUN when you find that 'treasure' that you're looking for - unexpectedly!
And don't we all like to find 'buried treasure'??

Imho - that's what G&T is about. To try to equal everything out would just make it Blah - bland, boring!!

I was cheated a couple times when I was a newby and it wasn't fun!! But that's when I learned to read-up on items and values etc...I'll never forget the time when I had a deal with a player and I sent first and got nothing in return...one sided deal!! I recovered but also learned and will never forget that player LOL! As far as getting a Pink pen from a newby, most likely not gonna happen, as we are all trying for more...don't understand why you would give up the few you have, being new an all? NEWBIES...do your research!

P.S. I traded my Howie Donut for a Heart-Laden tree (no ep)...why?? I wanted the tree

I wish I had a ton of those trees - not that I really care about the tree itself but because I could get pink production pens all over if I had them - even on baha.
It is amazing what people offer to get that tree, and yes it is beautiful but it does not give me any ccs

Just like we play this game differently we also look for different things at G&T but the price will always be affected by how many of the looked for items there are in the game at the current time. Offer and demand!

I look at the G&T as kind of going to the flea market, yard sales or event a store for a sale....sometimes you find good deals and come home happy with something you and other times it's like . Next time might be better

 

julie1013, I like that analogy. I really think it's like Christmas shopping, in person, sometimes they have what you want, sometimes they don't. You have to rethink it, either get something else or go somewhere else.

 

DBAYES - I'm so sorry you got taken advantage as a newbie. Hopefully those type of "one sided deals" don't happen anymore.

That's why I don't trade with people I've never seen or heard of. Of course, I do gift those I've never seen or heard of....they are usually newbies...and ask for things I'm not using. I'm really thrilled to help a newbie or friend who needs something...and I've got extras.

Another reason this forum is important to me. It builds a trust level and I feel comfortable giving or trading with names I'm familiar with.

 

If you want to do a trade next time... IGM me. I could use another howie.
