I have read a lot but my question is still not answered. At least not to where I understand it anyway.
What are the breeding runes for exactly?
How much does it matter what one you choose?
Does it mean when you are breeding you will get...
    more of that animal
or the chances of getting higher level animals are better?
Do you have to choose the same Breeding Starter Pack as the Breeding Rune you choose?
    Thank you

I assume you are talking about these two runes, is that right?

[IMG] Select a breeding animal. You will receive this breeding animal in exchange for your stars.

[IMG] Select a breeding starter pack. You will receive the things listed in exchange for your stars.

For both of these runes it suffices to unlock one of the breeding animals/breeding starter packs before you can proceed to the next rune. And you can at any time go back and unlock more breeding animals/starter packs. Neither of these runes impact breeding results at all.

So it doesn't matter very much which you choose. And no, you don't have to choose the starting pack corresponding to the breeding animal.

If you look closely, both runes have two options for cuckoos. There is the bee cuckoo for 55 stars and a builder cuckoo for 280 stars. The builder cuckoo is the only level 6 breeding animal you can get from the rune, that is why it is so much more expensive. All the other breeding animals there are level 5. There are also two starter packs for cuckoos. The kooky cuckoo starter pack will give you level one colored cuckoos instead of the regular base animals that all the other packs give. So it might be worth investing the extra stars and getting that one.

I hope this answers your questions. Good luck with the choices :)

    Hello Frootloop!
I've been here close to 6 years and the only Breeding rune I've opened is the one that gives you some % back of your normal animal.
The other runes, that gives breeders, are left well alone as these breeders are often picked up at the market for a pittance.
Hope this helps and best of luck :)

Edit: we wrote at the same time Mir. Never knew that about Cuckoos, interesting!

We got the first set of cuckoo runes in connection with one of the cuckoo events. Then when they made the cuckoos permanent animals, they introduced the second set :)

I had no idea this was the case. As I'm in the middle of breeding Cuckoos for the Cloud Row and it's Givers, I will hustle right over and take a closer look! Thanks for the heads up!
    8)

EDIT: After a quick look I was able to locate these two on the Tree:

Cuckoo Breeding Starter Pack - 75 stars
    20 wooly-snout cuckoos
    20 pheromones
    10 units of power feed
    1 single pen

Cuckoo Breeding Big Pack - 60 stars
    50 cuckoos
    20 pheromones
    12 units of power-feed
    1 single pen

The first set you mentioned is no longer available. (But boy it sure would have been nice to get now!)
    :p

Still a great big thanks to you -Mir85-! Every little bit helps.

All the runes are still available (unless you have unlocked them already :p). You found the two starter packs, the two colored cuckoos are on a different rune, the one with a ladybug on it.

    You're very welcome :)

After you have unlocked one of the breeding starter packs, there is the "quick breeder" rune that reduces the breeding time from 6 to 5 hours. After that comes the "baby boom rune" which gives a 20% chance of getting either a random colored animal (of the type you are breeding) or four regular base animals (of the type you are breeding). This is a very nice rune and I think it is this one hatzeva is referring to :)

Well shiver me timbers and blow me down!
They're there and plain as the nose on my face.
Right in the middle on the lower part of the tree!
    Under the Ladybug!

The Bees Knees - 70 Stars
Finally, a cuckoo who knows what's buzzing around the farm. Enjoy this "free-bee" and start cuckoo breeding today!

    Cuckoo Construction - 280 Stars
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to build! This cuckoo isn't afraid of hard work. Treat yourself to the perfect helper for cuckoo breeding!

Once again I am in your debt! Although a little lighter in the Star department. No matter, plenty of FSQs to build them back up.

    Thank you very much -Mir85-!
