Very happy to hear from you JJenks! :D Those live oaks really gave you some trouble! :eek:Sorry about all the damage.

So glad your houses are fixable - some are losses in that area. Terrible news about your sister's neighbor; how heartbreaking.

I know you are smart, but please be careful on the roofers. The short changers always seem to come out after storms. Hope you get a good price, since the insurance isn't helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how you are doing.:)

8)Soooo relieved to hear from you JJenks, and that you and your family are o.k.!! :inlove::D
It's so hard to go through something as difficult as you are facing, but as has been said, you have all survived!! My heart echoes all that has been said here.
It sounds like you have a good handle on it. Very moved that you took the time and made the effort to rescue those sweet ponies! The world needs people like you...:inlove:

(P.S. Can you deduct the deductible on your Income Tax next April? Hoping with you for the best outcome!!)

JJenks- Whew, you're okay thank goodness, I can breathe again!!
I'm sooo sorry for all that you now have to overcome but its you and your familes lives that matter.
Everything else is just stuff. Replacable stuff.
I cant even imagine what a pain it is though to go through all that with the insurance people and such :(
I wish you well in the coming months my friend and know that this too shall pass :)

Very happy that you are safe & sound. That's lot of damage JJenks. It is going to keep you very busy. The relief is that these can be reconstructed and you have not lost those that cannot be retrieved. Hope all these are cleared before Christmas and in the New year you will start afresh. Beautiful ponies.
Will the government provide aids to help you & other affected ?

12ss12, Some of the construction companies are booked up all the way into the new year so yes it's going to be awhile.o_O

Yesterday 6 counties in my area were added to the list for FEMA ( Federal Emergency Management Agency). They offer low or no interest loans to home owners (for your primary residence) for uninsured losses. A lot of people either did not have insurance or had renters insurance which did not cover a lot of expenses. We also have 60 days to get all tree/storm debris out to the street side for free pick up, the trees have to be cut in 5 foot sections.
I haven't had time to really check out all the different aids they are offering, wading through all the paperwork today. 8)

May be I will wade the internet for you & others for the aids this weekend. Just a little aid from me.

The same thing about the insurance company happened to the people here during last years floods. People found it hard to get a insurance company to get to their office or house as all insurance companies were busy. It took months & months.

JJenks so very thankful that you and all your loved ones are ok. Will continue to cover you with prayer as you face the overwhelming tasks of putting the pieces of your life and homes back together. We will be here for moral support if you need us or just need to vent as we all do sometimes.

    8) Fall is almost over here...:( This past week we had some heavy rain that washed most of those beautiful-but turning brown-leaves off the trees...and today we're having wind gust warnings - 40-50mph gusts...and they have already finished the job.
The gorgeous, intense colors of Fall are now replaced by a forest of gray tree trunks and branches!!:sleepy:...a vision of things to come.
But for now, it's sunny, bright, cool, and still beautiful outside!!

Gosh, just going through these hurricane posts. Glad all the 'farming' people are okay and sorry to see the damage. The ponies are too cute.

Here in South Africa, our drought is getting worse and water restrictions are going up a level on 1 November. And our dry summer season in my province is only just about to begin.

Poor RL farmers, I don't know how any of them are carrying on.

Our Mmnsoon should have started by now. But it has not. They say the it might after October 30th. We have monsoon only for 2 months & half a month has already passed by. We are still waiting......

Your dry season is only about to begin & you have drought already ? AniE, that's terrible. May be you will get some summer rains to cool you down & for water. When does your monsoon start ?

@12ss12 we don't have monsoons here, just 'normal' rain. Except we haven't had enough of that for a long time now.
I'm in the western part - we get winter rain; our winter is over now and we didn't have enough rain to fill the dams. So water restrictions are going up.
We won't be allowed to water gardens with sprinklers etc. We're already restricted to watering with a sprinkler to only 1 hour, 3x a week along with other restrictions.

Our whole country has been having a drought for about a year, I think. I'm not sure!

8)Wow! So much drought in so much of the world!! In the Western part of the USA we have had drought for a while now, too.

Yesterday, in the NorthEastern part of the US where I live, we had......snow!! Our first of the season. Wind and rain had just cleared all the Fall leaves off the trees...and already we had snow!! Makes me wonder what kind of a Winter we're going to have!o_O

Here in the midwest, my trees are still green and leafy. Only a couple of tiny-leaf trees have changed color and are starting to fall. We've already had a frost, but tomorrow is going to be in the mid 70s. Looks like the trick or treaters are going to have a nice night for mischief.

Lily - if you want to know what the winter will bring, grab a squirrel and check the fur. If it's thick, will be a cold winter. Or find a wooly worm - if the brown band is wide, it will be a mild winter; thin - it will be cold.
Now if I only could find a wooly worm. The squirrels come to me - no need to track them down.

    8) Right you are, MARLY...there is definitely a down side to winter! Your point is well taken. But since this is a 'feelgood' type of post, I'll save the down side for when it's happening!;)
