8)Oh, hopy14, that is great!! Bravo for you!!!:inlove: Do you have someone to share the adventure with? A brother or sister, or a friend? Or even a Mom if she's willing! If fear is an issue (as it is for many) it's best to have someone with you that you trust.
What state do you live in? Do you have snow on the ground? Will you need to wait till warm weather?
If so, that will give you some good time to prepare, and think of things to do...even just bringing a good book...maybe one from the Library to help you identify local plants and trees, birds...might be a good start. (But some really old fashioned Comic books like Archie or Scooby Doo would be great for a giggle, too!!) And don't forget a flashlight or two! ;) Most of all, bring lots of water, sandwiches, nibbles, annnnnd - your sense of humor and FUN!
We all have to start somewhere, and I really like your willing attitude.:D

I this extreme cold I can't do camping. It's better to start when the weather gets a little warm.In winters, my toes turn blue sometimes purple and then they got irritation too.:cry:So I've to keep them warm.I usually keeps them warm by rolling cotton around them.So for the protection of my toes,I can't do camping in winters.:(
I don't like to read books so it will be great to bring that box with me in which I've all my childhood pics, toys and other things so that I can't be bored.I'll also sing songs.:p;)

8)Right you are, hopy14! Winter camping is for experienced enthusiasts! Most likely it would not be very much fun to anyone not a real enthusiast. (And, for the most part, I like my camping beginning in Spring - for the wildflowers and new growth popping up out of the ground in unexpected places, and seeing wee animals as they begin to venture out of their dens...! I'll leave the Winter camping to others!);)
Your Box sounds interesting - a good idea! And singing goes great with camping....I believe you're getting the idea, hopy!:music::D
    Attitude is Everything!...And I like your attitude!:D;)

Hmmmm...I am curious as to why you don't like to read books? Reading books is one of life's greatest skills...they can tell you anything you want to know about anything! Books are also good companions (and great conversationalists) when you just want to relax, and pretty much don't feel like doing anything for a while....and they don't care who you are or what you look like - they will always be there for you!

Reading should be #1 on your 'Life Skills' List, and there are so many reasons why! You will Never regret developing/practising this important skill! Once you have it, it will always be yours; it will make a big difference in your whole entire life...(and, just between us - it is Fun once you have learned it well!)
This Life Skill does not take long to learn, either, if you practice and really try.:D Start easy, with lots of pictures - you'll have fun reading the captions under them, if you choose books in the beginning that look like they would give you a laugh or two, or be something that you are interested in!
Believe it or not, learning and liking to read can change the whole course of your life, for the better.:inlove:

Have fun planning your very first camping experience, hopy!! I can hardly wait to hear about it this summer!:inlove::D:music:

I don't know why I don't like to read books.:(o_OWhenever I got newspaper or something else ,I just watch out the pictures and that's it.
I'll try to read everything which comes in my way.:)
Once our teacher was telling us about a shop .She said that it's nearer to the school.I was sitting on the first seat.So the teacher asked me " Have you been known by it? ".I said "no".So then my teacher said "you don't look at the boards when you go to your home from school".And I was like

For the first time I'm gonna share weather of my location and and story related to it.......
Today ,we had drizzling rain here. We(my whole class about 145 students) went to the terrace of our school(Our principal allowed us for that). We(Our Principal, teachers, students) were there for approx one hour. The scene from there was so amazing. We say mountains from there and my friend was constantly saying that I want to climb that mountain. One girl in a house near the school saw us.She told to the other people in her house. They all came out.She shook her hand from far away. Also I shook my hand for her. There was so cold and drop by drop rain was falling on our faces and cool wind was also blowing.I also sung a song "skyscraper" there:music:.I was a great experience.:inlove::inlove:

8)Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful experience with us, hopy14!! :D Nature and those mountains are always beautiful to look at, aren't they?! What a happy surprise to have those people wave at you - I am glad you waved back!
You must have a really good voice to be singing in front of all those people...I'm so glad for you!!:music::inlove:
Yes, that does sound like a great and very nice experience, hopy. I could almost feel those rain drops on my face, too...drop by drop, and the cool wind blowing.....:):)

And I'm so proud of your decision to read everything that comes your way!! It is that kind of attitude that will make your life a success, and a lot more interesting! (And if the teacher asks about that store again You will be able to tell her!!:D)

Do you live in the USA, or another country?? It is o.k. to say the country (but not the town) where you live.

I live in the state of Massachusetts, USA. If you look at a map of the United States of America, you can see Massachusetts in the upper right hand corner of the USA. It sort of sticks out into the water a little bit.
(You can also see Georgia on the map of the USA, too. - where happycallie (in the post just above this one) lives. Georgia is waaaay down near the bottom of the right side of the USA.

If you would like to see what my state is like, and practice your reading a little, there is a thread that was in the "Gabfest" section of the Forum called "What is it like where you are from?" that will show you pictures and tell you a little about Massachusetts...:) Maybe you have seen it already?? It has been moved to Archives, in 'Everything else Archives', page 1.

I would also like to see what country you are from, if it is not the USA. That is, ONLY if you feel comfortable saying.:)

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

We had snow several days last week, with a foot of it on Thursday...and now (Sunday) we are having another foot of it falling all day, night, and then off and on all Monday into Monday night.o_Oo_O

For once I am soooooo glad I live in an apartment complex in the country - with good maintenance...and do NOT have to shovel the stuff! I intend to put my feet up, sip some hot chocolate, and enjoy the falling beauty of it through my 'big screen' sliding glass doors!;):D

Beautiful pictures farmlily3! I too am having the same weather as you up here in Maine. It has been very cold, gloomy, and windy for the past few days and yes snowy too! Today we are going to get the jackpot of 18-24inches of snow. Unlike you, I will be shoveling my stairs,:p but my son-in-law uses the snowblower on the rest!xD After that I too will sit and watch the snow fall and enjoy some hot chocolate too! Stay safe and warm everyone in the snow belt! lol

8)Thanks for thinking of us, Shelly - it sounds idyllic! Would be fun to share a day just watching the koi in the pond, and the horses run.....there sure are some days....:music:

I lived on the West coast of Florida for several years - and a few more growing up - but I actually like having the 4 seasons here - even the snow! Florida can be just great, and there are many things to love about it. Boating, fishing, swimming, shelling...they can't be beat!! I still have a necklace and earrings I made from black fossilized shark's teeth that I collected on Venice beach(where my Grandparents lived) just south of Sarasota, and still have a small jar of them, too.

I guess I'm more of a mountain, hills, variety type of person, though. I may say things about the snow but I love it so much for its beauty, and could watch it all Winter without growing tired of it. And the way it cleanses the air, makes it smell sooo clean, and makes it so invigorating - puts a smile all the way across my face!!:inlove: At least it is like that here, in the country suburbs - away from all the city mess. I'm not too fond of that!o_O

Thank you:) My siblings and I were very excited to built it! But I think my dad did the most of the work:pxD
The pink buttons are the the caps of water bottles, the eyes and the nose are carrots and the smile is a potato. We had potatoes and eggs for food that dayxDxD
Why are there shark teeth in a beach you posted?

I see many of you had snow this winter!:music: How is the weather now that spring has started?
Here we have had high temperatures up to 15-18 °C and occasionally it rains.

8)Hi Arielh! Sharks can congregate in large numbers, and when they die, some kinds have a place where they go to die, accumulating in great numbers over many years.
In time, century after century, they decompose and their teeth wash ashore with the tides over the years. In the case of Venice, Florida, there evidently has been a shark 'graveyard' offshore for millennia...and so - the many teeth that wash up on the beach!
    Say "Ahhhhh"...
    Just look at those teeth!!
This photo shows the white color of the teeth. White color indicates newer teeth. If you look for sharks teeth on the beach, usually the darker they are, the older they are - and the black ones are ancient...true fossils.

MODS - I accidently posted this instead of adding it to the post above. Please add this post to the one above. Thank you! :)

    8) Wow!! Talk about weather - we're getting it today, here in Massachusetts, USA!! A true Nor'easter!! Snowing, blizzard-like conditions all day....we're expecting a foot - foot and a half of snow. It's been a 'white-out' so far today, with the wind blowing snow sideways and every which way!! I even saw a bird flying sideways, blown by the wind at double speed!!
Yes, the birds have been out all morning searching for breakfast.
They like my deck (it is covered, and protected on the open side by large flowering bushes), and have been hopping around, leaving their cute tiny footprints all over!:inlove: They were hopping on my glass tabletop, but the blown snow is too deep now.
One sweet little bird was hopping back and forth in front of my sliding glass door, and peeping in,:D for a while, then settled in a fluff of feathers and just sat there. (I think he was enjoying some warmth near the door.)
They've all gone back to their nests now, and settled in for the duration.....a very good idea!!

Now, here's a weird part.....while I closed my umbrella that covers the table, I didn't bring it in as it is pretty secure there.....but I got worried when I saw that poor bird turning into a jet plane! So I watched it from the sofa for a bit. Much to my surprise - it hardly moved at all!! The wind seemed to just go around it, ignoring it!!
That is totally w-e-i-r-d to me, after seeing that bird - I thought for sure I'd need to bring it in!
I guess my deck is a pretty good place to be, if you can believe the birds - and now 'I'm a believer'!! LOL!!!:music::D

(hmmmmmmm - now where did I put that hot chocolate.....)

I watched the news of the Nor'easter on the news tonight. Here in CA, I am enjoying 85 degrees...and gorgeous Spring weather. Then there are thousands in the Northeast, without power(heat...or light...or Internet). I cannot believe this horrible storm.o_O I hope & pray everyone is safe!

I also live in the Northeast and like farmlily have just gone through the Nor'easter here in Maine. At one point they pulled the snow plows off of I 295 because of white out conditions. You know it is bad when the plows can't plow!;) Today is "Shovel out day" and so I started my day at 5am out in the cold and dark to get the massive snow drift off the porch and stairs! My son-in-law uses the snow blower on the rest! We did not lose power, thank goodness so I can now go get a cup of very hot coffee! Oh, we ended up with 19 1/2 inches of snow, but the drifts and snow banks are much, much higher!:p
    Happy Farming everyone!:D

8)Two days after the Nor'easter...and the snow is melting, the snow plows have done a great job here, I can actually see a patch of floor on my deck, too...and the sun has been shining magnificently, brilliantly gleaming and sparkling off the beautiful white blanket that covers the land!! It is gorgeous!
We fared well here in my little country town - no loss of power that I am aware of. Here in my apartment complex we are toasty and cozy, and bathed in the warm smile of the sun.
    I feel r-e-b-o-r-n!!:D:inlove:
