The greyish one between the two lighter blue ones....BUT I found out, it is pure luck, which fish you catch.
Even when being completely off, I got the Merlin.

Got a total of 352 coins with only normal and premium lures.
Every morning, when harvesting the overnight stables, trees and fields, I mill premium lures and the rest of hooks and feathers are milled to normal lures.
I have 2 fields with crops, 2 fields with stables and one field with trees as well as trees at the edges of the stable fields.
So all in all almost a equal distribution for the three different drops.
Yesterday night I even got hooks from 3 loads of carrot growing

I'm not getting any from the magical glade. Like none at all. I've harvested a few times since the start of the event. I'm using the fertilizer on any trees over 12 hours. I'm not sure what's going on.

My strategy has been to do the Deluxe lures when I can. Then I use the excess fish hooks and the unusable feathers to make the fishing lures. It seems to be working out for me. It would probably work better if the drops would work.

 

Are your trees ready to harvest at the same time?
If not, then I would really rip them down (or at least the ones with more than 12h growing time left) and try to synchronise them a bit more. The more trees are ready at the same time, the bigger the chance for good drops

I don't keep a lot of trees on the magical glade, but I do have a few, so I don't expect a lot of drops. Does seem to be as clonahmon said - more trees you harvest at once, the better the drop rate. I have a lot of XXLs on my main field and got a good amount of drops from them. Hoping to repeat that this evening when they come to harvest again.

I agree that there is some degree of chance no matter where you click in the ring - It is similar to, but not the same as the mach-o-meter. The mechanism is the same, but the addition of the 'chance' element makes it different. With the mach-o-meter, you know you need to get those indicators in the green to get a good score. While it's more likely you'll get a better fish if you get it in that narrow ring, it's not a guarantee. I was dead on - the brightest green possible and got...wait for it...a lobster. pfft.

 

Have got a lot of trees out on my Farm around the edges... have had them out for a along time and have got my tree fruits into thousands... so are my crops... Only thing I lack now are animals... but with back to back events haven't had time to do these

 

Done, cloud row up and running and bought a lot of misc items too...
Had well over 1200 coins.
I bought 1 basket in the beginning, which I have never done before but, since I am moving in a week
I don't have a lot of time to spend on this event. That 1 basket and first harvest allowed me to fish 40 times.
Was well worth it to me.

They are all ready around the same time, since I'm adding the fertilizer. They all sync up to about the same harvest time. I opened a thread in the tech group. I'm not having any issues on other fields. The drops are low, but I'm getting some. I am not getting any on the magical glade from the trees.

 

Progress report. 1230 coins needed for 2017 CR and all misc. but the sticker.

How do you get the cloud rows so quickly? What lures do you use and whats your crop:Tree:animal pen ratio that you are putting out?

 

I got the 2017 Cloud Row and Givers. Now getting Coins to get all the Miscellaneous Prizes i like to have. If i have Surplus Coins I will get 2017 Givers.

I have already complete this Event Back in 2015 and 2016. So no need to spend Coins there

FarmerDelight, CylentLea123 Brought a Basket Package that includes Deluxe and Premium Lures

My Strategy to Sticking to Milling Premium Lures, Rather than Deluxe Lures reason being it cost 17 Fish Hooks and 17 Metal Discs. But you cannot win a Marlin Every Time. In my view not cost effective way to win Coins.

So Far got 960 Coins from 1 Lure, 1 Deluxe and 30 Premium Lures. As i refuse to buy Baskets

My gaming style is primary Milling Premium Lures as it goes well with my aim to stock up on Bears

 

I don't think I will get very far with this event ... just not skilled at fishing.

I used 10 Premium Lures and managed to get 57 Coins. I thought a change of tactic was called for so I tried 10 Fishing Lures and now have 110 Coins. Some of these last fishies were leftovers from my Premium Lures but I figure that I have more "chance" with three goes with a basic than with one or more goes with Premium and Deluxe Lures. We shall see ... !

I am not able to do much farming this weekend - I'm not working but am very busy. My strategy is to continue working on one of those more demanding FSQs: growing Foxtail Millet and Marguerites until I either run out of CAC, harvest vouchers or finish the FSQ!

Edit: Forgot to say that I managed to get a Marlin with a basic lure - only managed to get one Octopus with the Premium.

 

Not going as fast as some of you guys. Speed-fishing really sounds fantastic. For me I just got all my hooks and lines in a big knot. So slow and hopefully steady for me. I've bought all three cloud rows, and one 2017 giver. I'm thinking if I can't get all the givers, there's a chance at Give and Trade event

@BillyJoeBimmBob Thank you for your post. That one really spurred me on, and gave me a huge hope. Did as you said, now I have more metal disk than fish hooks until next harvest that is.

 

I have now had a Merlin several times with my stick and string rod using basic lures. I casted 63 times and got 465 Coins!

I know that there is more clicking to be done with the basics but weighed against the drop requirements for the more "expensive" lures and, of course, the luck element that still seems to be predominant even though there is supposed to be a sweet spot (or should that be ring) to get the best catch, but I seem to have advanced really quickly with the basic lures. Plus I waited so long to have enough of each type of drop to make the Premium lures. Don't think I could have made many Deluxe lures but I was able to make loads of the basic lures really quickly ... so slow slow wins the rest (well I hope!).

One or two more sessions like this and I am sure I will be able to get CR and all its goodies, plus most of the things that I want in the Miscellaneous store.

Now I am starting to enjoy this event.

I would only use breeding as a last resort at the end of the event, when you need a few feathers for completing lures and there is not enough time for stables to get ready. This way you can mill one or two additional lures and eventually grab a few bits and bobs here and there
At least that's what I will do... Just in case...

Nellie, I am sorry you having problems with this event. I have noticed that drops from shorter timed items are not great. Even 12 hour XXL trees aren't giving a lot of metal discs. But, this is also one of those events where you do what you can. You might be surprised at what you can get. I thought both of my farms had the previous cloud rows, but turns out this one didn't! But, I've already completed the cloud row that gives the fish...and that was my goal for this event on this farm. Anything beyond that is pure bonus. And I haven't spent any money or my hard-earned BBs, either. Just making whatever lures the drop numbers allow. So just have fun and do what you can.

 

20 hrs tree having Ep 120 or above will give you best drops. If you have turbo mulch, use it to to make them grow faster. Their time will be reduced to 13 hrs. If you don't have such trees, buy Maple tree (110 EPs) around 100 or 200 or 300 & put them entirely on 2 or 3 fields. You might get good drops. XXL trees don't usually give good drops.

For animals, pens having growth time of 24 hrs & above, give good drops. So is workshops, 48 hrs, 44 hrs, 36 hrs & then 24 hrs. Use can use crafting buffs & also the cloud rows if you have them to shorten their growth period.

But the best would be , since we are half way through the event, trees & crops. Plant long time crops in a field or two overnight with water & manure & refinements if you have them. With tree drops & crop drops you can make deluxe lure. Catch is thrice of ordinary lure. I am milling all 3 lure as I harvested lots of lure feather from my initial harvest. Still 83 of them left. Almost got all of miscellaneous & cloud row with 2 EP givers. But still have to get one EP giver and that STICKER !! What is a Viking without a Sticker ! Hail Queen Meba ! Have to get it !
