Why do I need to consume 5 products each day? And what type of crafting trade are usually worth buying instead of making?

You don't need to consume 5 items a day, but by consuming (not using) you get the tradepoints of that item, so it helps with leveling up. Another nice thing about consuming them, is that you can consume items of higher level than your own, and thus gain more trade points.

As to what is worth buying, for me the only thing really interesting artisan item is the cac. The others also have useful and nice items, but no where near as useful as the cac imo.

Personally I did the Confectionery first (knew about the cac), then the bakery, and the flower shop. But only the confectinery have I reached L4 with. I am currently working on opening all stars regarding tradepoints on the flowershop, the two others I have maxed out. The Spa sounds like it too have a few nice items, but personally my focus and interest is limited.

FAQ for Becoming a Confectioner - shows you the requirements for each level and a list of confectioner items at the bottom with their associated trade point values

I need to make a correction. The Artisan Village FAQ says it is $2.99 if your purchase it.

Some crafted items sell for less in the market than their ingredients which is why I suggested to look at the market to see which ones are worth crafting vs. purchasing.

    Example: Lavendar jam

Base recipe is Smooth jelly: prices shown are my market so you should look at yours to see what is right for you
    10 apples (205 CC) = 2050 CC
    10 pears (150 CC) = 1500 CC
    10 water (1 CC) = 10 CC
    20 sugar

    Lavender jam:
100 Lavender = (250 CC in market, 75 CC in seed shop but limited to 100 seeds) = 25,000 CC
    10 Honey (1154 CC) = 11,540 CC
    10 Water ( 1 CC) = 10 CC
    30 Sugar

Ignoring sugar as it can't be bought/sold in market, the cost of ingredients to make lavender jam is 40,110. I can buy it for 10,050 CC.

In this case, if I were choosing to use lavender jam to level up the confectionery, I would purchase 5 a day in the market and use in the confectionery for the trade points rather than craft them. It is worth 125 points.

    I hope this helps:)

Quick question, do I take CAC before harvesting or before planting?

2 months 1 week ago, I set my goal to unlock confectionary (through renzo fair) and level up to 4 for CAC. Today, I can proudly say I did it, aafter weeks of eating 5 island paradise jam daily and burning through almost 3 million CC. :inlove:

I admit it was not an easy journey, at times I look at the seemingly endless progress bar and sorrow but I still persevere. looking back, it was quite a challenge but I'm so happy I took it.

Since the CAC recipe isn't appearing in the shop, guess I'll wait for the next super shop sale. :)

    Congratulations !! Awesome job!

Might need to log out and back in (or refresh), it should be in the shop. Still might be worth it to wait until half price. I didn't, was too tempting. Ofc sales a few days later.. BP and I aren't synchronized -.- I blame BP8)

Thanks Moraine :) And you are right, when I refresh the page, the recipe is available in the store. Let's hope the next shop sale comes next month xD

    I love that story:inlove:... ... I am sooo very happy for you!!!:D
On the farm I have my Confectionary Shop I am level three. I never really have lots of CCs, I just am no good at the whole market thing. So I am making it slowly growing and cooking everything myself:p BUT I'm getting there and hope I have enough self-control to wait for the sale. Hope I'm ready when the sale comes :wuerg:
xDxD:cry:xD I'm in the same pool with you and BP is diffidently out of time ;)

Hi all, I just opened my confectionery and I was reading over this thread, but still confused. When it is mentioned to consume 5 products daily in order to level up more quickly, does that apply only to certain products on the shelf where I'm making the jams (i.e. the jams & jellies for confectionery)? I haven't clicked on them because I'm scared to waste them. Of course I want to get to the point where I can make CAC so if I can level up faster to get to that, I will when I find out how. Thanks for any advice!
    :)

There's really no reason to rush. The trades are very good at providing useful and helpful buffs when needed. Unfortunately, they aren't a very good source for making CC as the majority of craft items sell for less than what their components are worth. So it's best to focus on making the things you use for yourself, and not worrying about trying to make any CC. If you want to make CC's then grow crops, trees, and animals and sell them. You'll make a lot more that way.

Yes, if you select one of those products you can donate them. It's one of the 4 tab options to the left. The option itself will look like a mini-confectionary and say "Improve your skills and level up."

@Decree thank you for the advice about the market. 8)
I don't really rush many things here on the farm, I rush too much :wuerg:in the real world :p so when I'm down on the farm I just take it easy ;)BUT I must confess some days I do get a little antsy to be able to make certain products.:music: then I just take a deep breath of my virtual fresh country air.xD
:) I find it very satisfying making my own products and I love :inlove: it when I can share.
