Great photos and I do think that Frodo looks better than he did a few days ago.

Storm looks amazing! He's going to be such a beautiful adult reindeer, that pale grey with the dark eyes is so striking. Such a shame he's going to be neutered.
Frodo does look better but it's hard to tell because of the different angles. Maybe take a photo from the same angle as the earliest one to confirm it?

I took a photo from same angle today and got very depressed as at first glance he looked just as dreadful but hubby put the two side by side and he is improving slightly but SLOWLY... It's a bit like one of those puzzles "Spot the Difference"
And as to the main herd that reckon they never get fed!!! Arrived to devastation at morning feed - somebody had climbed on the gate, reached high for a box of reindeer moss, grabbed box and dragged it down to floor level and munched through gate (£40 gone in the bat of an eye :) - got to love them!).
And Katya not waiting for apples or pellets!

Mischa wondering why I have closed myself in to sort out their devastation!!!

Oh! I can definitely see a difference!:D Frodo is getting a tummy!!! Hopefully that will soon spread through his body and he will start looking better very soon!:music:

I think there's an impressive difference for just a few days. Possibly a slightly bigger belly but the real difference is how much less his spine sticks out.
....also his feed is the opposite way around, there's a bigger pile of hay in the background, a blue tub and a thing on the walll, and a hook on the other wall is missing.
What? You said it was spot the difference, right?

Me as well! The herd probably thought they would just save you a job and go to the canteen themselves, after all wasn't it buffet night!

Hi I have not posted before but have been following. I do see a difference his spine, abdomen and hind quarter look slightly fuller.
I don't do animals but am a retired Pediatric RN . So I do have idea what it looks

8)Maybe it is the light, but even his coat looks a tiny bit finer in texture.....
Love all your pictures! They sure do keep you b-u-s-y....a true 'labor of love'.

Would prefer his coat to seem denser.. I still can't work out whether he hasn't shed last years Winter coat or has a very dodgy new coat... At this time of year it should be fairly short BUT very dense...

Hmmn my girls are getting very close to oestrus... Lexi surprised me today, she almost challenged me with antlers and pawing. As I was in front of her, I needed to get round the side to stroke her and show her that antler play isn't good... As soon as I got next to shoulder she "cow kicked" me!!! And she's one of my last years babies!!! Mischa has half stripped her velvet so she will be ready in the next few days...
The good news is that maybe, just maybe, a couple of my girls can visit another bull from another loved herd (another owner has mentioned), she is just worried about being able to remove from the bull easily... Mischa, Katya and maybe Lotte will come when called from whatever distraction so fingers crossed that they may be able to visit for a few days.. :)

Wow, since I have been gone which seems like a lifetime, so much has happened! I love the new pictures of the herd, they all look great!:inlove: Sorry Frodo is not progressing as well as we all would like!
Glad he is eating better and hoping he will get some weight on REAL soon! Poor Freddy, I also hope his infection clears up soon too! Karen I think you need a Holiday away from all the problems, but I know that is not going to happen with all that you have going on, so I will just keep my fingers crossed for you!;)

Okay. I am only sharing photo's of Frodo (on here) at his very worst angle & today's the light was bad but he has changed so much, in personality and appetite...

Today he ate 3 meals of pellets (I daren't increase them anymore or it may create acidosis) - I have to make sure he is eating enough haylage, browse, grass and straw (he won't touch straw, it is low in nutrients but it would balance his gut)...

Luckily he hasn't gone into "rut" yet (due to poor health) so I can still bang in the calories... The final blood results still not back from vet so he is still enclosed.
My hay meadows have been cut for about 10 days but due to weather rotting on the ground and I need to get rest of herd in there as Frodo will need Rutland... Stress, stress, stress!!!

Mischa is stripping her velvet - the girls are usually several weeks after the bull.. Hopefully Mischa, Katya and Lotte can go to the lady that has just met them & "mentioned" that maybe they be able to visit her bull... Keep your fingers crossed :)

Oh my, in this picture, from where I think his rib cage would be, back to his rump is very bony and thin looking! On the brighter side his appetite is improving:) and that is a good thing! Also hoping your girls can have a visit with that ladies bull! Fingers crossed for sure!;)

I am pleased to hear that Frodo is enjoying his food more, hopefully he will put on some weight before he starts losing it again! I also hope that your girls will be able to visit that bull.
