I'm going to tackle the refinery. I still have to grow the required crops, so I need to know which one I'm going for. Any suggestions on which crop would be best to refine? I've looked at the different benefits available, but they are all starting to look the same. ;)

I'm at level 74, so my highest crop is Iris. But I've read some comments from players suggesting roses are the way to go. Also read a post suggesting Iris...

Any input about best crop (and their refinements) would be appreciated (before I start tackling the crops).

    Thank you, all! :)

You can find it in the farmhouse, farmerumf -- where customer orders, sticker album, etc. are (the little pot with a plant stem)

If you are refining for event drops, you want a crop that normally takes more than 10 hours to grow without water/manure/SG. You also want one that has refinements that reduce growing time or make water/manure/SG more effective. While roses aren't the only crop good for this, it has at least 4 refinements that fit (you can have up to 4 refinements active for free, 6 if you buy slots with BBs). It also helps if you have the flower cloud row that reduces growing time, the chestnut cloud row that increases SG effectiveness, use White Innocence (WI) and Fruit Cake (FC) which also increase SG effectiveness. If you do have the flower CR, a flower of some type is a good choice.

I would say all crops from lilies (12hr crop) and up are worth to refine. Most important one to get is the Early Bloomer (the big clock), even when it comes with negatives as those barely have an impact. Next good ones are the water and manure boosters, followed by the SG boosters.

Be aware the results are random but once a refinement is found ALWAYS take it and NEVER reject it. On reject you might get it again and again and again.. instead of getting another extra refinement.

As everything else in this game it takes time to get all you wish to achieve. When you make it a habbit to keep your refinery running 24/7 like your farm it's very do able.

    Wishing you good luck!

i am doing roses first..... as my super grow is not very high with all these events back to back i have to save them for event start ups..... roses i can plant, water (manure too if i have enough stock or cheap at market) and sleep.....to me also good with exp ... then i may start with carnations less someone points out another crop close to it... im level 86 so don't have much of others yet...I mainly always use 1x1's..(mainly for events).. sometimes 2x2's

If, for example, you start with roses and get 4 free slots -- if you then decide to do carnations later, can you delete the slots of the roses, and get the 4 free slots back?

lol. Yes, I found that thread in my google search. I read about halfway before I stopped (it's a tad overwhelming). I'll tackle the rest of this novel before I start the process. At this point, I just wanted to know what crop to focus on and start growing.

Yes, but each deletion takes 24 hours and CCs before you can activate a new refinement.

I would suggest to have good stock of crops, you intend to refine if they are higher level crops as they need a huge chuck of crops.

I would start on Refinements that helps your farm the most ;)

    What are you looking for?
specific tools, tools EV, EP, getting dropitems...

Nowadays I basically use carnations to get all the event drops easily. I do have the cloud row for instant harvest plus jumbo trees.

IF I'm in need of EV for tools (needed for the storage quarters quests), I use cauliflower to get wooden mallets.
I remember getting 5-10 of those each day when I left them overnight. Not sure if that has changed.

Back in the day I also did roses, corn, mushroom, strawberries and sunflower but I don't need these anymore.

I would suggest getting a 3-4h crop which harvesting time could drop to almost half.
That will help getting event drops during an event.
I believe mushrooms can drop to 2h 30 min.
Strawberries could do too and they also yield hammers and wood boards that are important for newer players.

Also, I would suggest getting an overnight crop for event drops.
Cauliflowers and roses are good and yield great EV for tools.
Raspberries are also a great option. Their harvesting time drops to 10 30.

But most importantly, read that thread! It contains all the wisdom you need

The Refinements have been a main focus of mine since they were introduced a few years ago, and I've been working hard at them but only doing the long-growing time crops of course. It is costly but the gain soon outweighs the cost. Today I have many crops maxed-out:

But I only use one regularly: My raspberries. A 17 h crop that gets down to 10.23 h (w. water) they are an absolute drop-magnet and a perfect over night crop. If i'm in need of drops for an event I use my free spots in the Greenhouse for refiened Roses, Cotton, Irises or anything else that has "SG love stage 3" refinement and that will mature in an instant; if I'm ever short on drops. Cloud row, White innocent, Fruit cake and SG love you'll reap tons of drops in an hour as they mature "instantly" (no joke they really do :)

Hope this help you a bit, please ask if anything is unclear. Best of luck!

No cloud rows for me yet (other than the basics). Thank you for all the input (and the graphics, hatzeva. Wow, you've done a lot)!

just because you keep a refinement doesn't mean you have to use it in one of your free slots just wanted to make sure you knew that :) GOOD LUCK :)

I did read all of your post, hatzeva (and appreciate the graphics), but didn't pick up that the refinement could be kept, but not used in the slot. I see what you mean by 'using your free slots' during events now.

So I could work on getting all the refinements (or as many as I want), and just select the ones I want for the 4 free slots (interchanging if I so desire at a cost of time and ccs) -- got it!

I think the refinery is one those things where all the wee details become clear once you start using it. :)

Thank you again everyone -- it's been very informative. Think I'm ready to tackle the refinery now. I've been procrastinating too long on that one.

ETA: oops, hatzeva - your 2nd post disappeared.

Jazz - sorry had to delete a double post..

Yes, work on as many refinments as you can! Well you're only able to work on one refinement at the time but make sure you always have something "cooking" in the area! It is slow but once you get "SG love", 3rd stage, for something, you'll love it and the advantages you get!

    Super edit:
Sorry I need to edit big time. It is "SG LOVE" in the 3rd section you need to get to do all the instant finished crops! Forget about early bloomer - it's almost useless.
Please go for "SG LOVE" in the 3rd and you'll have access to insta-finished: roses, cotton, iris, carnations and probably more.

    Sorry for the confusion

Same here! @jazzy22 I started yesterday, no luck yet, but I'm going to keep mine going until good things happen. I mean I've tried here and there in the past but it confused me and I couldn't figure it out. Now I understand and am getting serious about it and can't wait to get further into it. Good luck with yours!
