« The Bone Queen's Treasure », 2018: discussion.

I'm at 47. At first I didn't know I had to collect dailies, so I might have missed a couple of days. Haven't got much special goodies, but that's okay. The good ones works great for me

 

I am at 41/140. I did buy one giver for the coins, but it is so slow and I only manage to get the 20 hour reset once a day. Unless we get a bunch of coins during the end of the month events, this one seems impossible unless you bought a lot of the coin givers.

 

I just noticed the largest gaps in terms of coins needed is at the front-end. After level #8 (95 coins) the largest gap is 4 coins (only 2X) and 1X 3 coins. All the rest are only 2 coins between levels. Hope that offers some encouragement.

 

How can you tell how many games you've played? I can't see anything. It's showing 6. on the thingy and reads 56/60 for points.
I click on any square and hope it lands nearby a treasure chest..not very technical I know but I usually get 4's and 6's sometimes an 8, all I know is that this is slow going. finished the gnarly tree event yesterday and didn't buy one elm...it's fine; I tossed out a few farm coins.. I'm not depressed about it.

Marlymar and nm56 - I'm still on level 7 (63 of 75 coins). I have none of the givers, just got lucky with coins in the first few days by getting a bunch of extra coins in the treasure chests. Now not so much. Today I got Zip. Looking ahead I noticed that in addition to the 12 coins to finish level 7, I needed another 20 coins after that to complete level 8 and was a bit discouraged. That's when I noticed the number of coins to reach every level after 8 was far fewer than previously (mostly only 2 coins). Hopefully we'll get a few more coins in the chests but just a matter of luck! Hope it is with you all.

Hey Marly, you are talking about a different number. 6 of 28 is 6 prizes out of the 28 prizes. The numbers most here are talking about is the number of treasure hunts. You can see that number below the prize list. Mine now says 67/75, that means I have played 67 games, and I need 75 to get the next prize. Total number of games needed to get all prizes is 140.

I have been a bit worried about the low number of coins from the event, but the next one steps it up. That's good news! Everyone who is now at at least 65 games can get all 140 by collecting 3 coins a day for the 15 days left in October and the 30 coins from the witch's brew event. And for those short of 65 games there is still the mysterious maze which will award coins, and the possibility to get them from crates

You're a bit behind some of those who posted here, but you're still ok. Just keep collecting the 3 daily coins and try to get what you can from the events

 

I forgot to collect the coins the first couple of days, and I thought I'd been stymied because of it. I'm glad to know I'm doing OK.
(I'm on 65 games played at the moment).

Incidentally, I got bored and worked out the best strategy for repeated attempts to get the treasure chest in 2 moves or under. My advice is to start on a square that's not against an edge or corner, then move 1 square in the direction the arrow shows. That will give you 5 squares where you're sure to find the treasure chest if it's there; the square you choose to start or any of the 4 surrounding squares. If you don't get it you can close the event layer and try again with the same coin.

5 chances to win out of 36 squares means you have slighly over a 50% chance of getting the top reward in 5 attempts. I think it's worth the extra faffing as there's some great prizes in those chests, including more cursed coins of course.

It doesn't actually matter if you move 1 square or more for the second move as long as you go in the direction the arrow points, but it DOES reduce your chances of success if you start in the edge or on the corner - to 4/36 and 3/36 respectively.

I hope this is clear, it's difficult to phrase something like this properly!

This event is a total of 648 hrs, halfway point is 324h. We're currently at 342h remaining. Half of 140 is 70.

My status:
Farm 1: 79/140
Farm 2: 66/140
Farm 3: 87/140
Obviously some farms are luckier than others. I've gotten some trees, including elm, stables. And tons of other goodies. I haven't bothered to write any of it down. The pleasant surprise, aside from cursed coins, has been the stars. I think Farm 3 has gotten about 150 stars so far. Hopefully my Farm2 will get luckier during the second half of the event.

Despite the fact that I read the FAQ... I missed/forgot that we got free coins until someone mentioned it in a post. I've tried to harvest every 20h but... sleep/RL/senility gets in the way... lol.

My strategy has been...

• Pick a square to start with. The starting square I use is always one of the 4 in the center. Click. (IF I get a first click treasure I change starting squares, otherwise I keep using that same starting square.)
• If no treasure, follow the arrow to the edge, click. If treasure, YAY!
• If no treasure EXIT THE DIG! Go back to the event timer and START THE EVENT again. START WITH THE SAME STARTING SQUARE AS BEFORE.

Repeat till treasure appears.
8 boxes each time, guaranteed.

I am at 98/140 (level 9) so now there are only 2 Cursed Coins required for each step!
I spent 24 of the first 25 Star Coins won on Witch's Brew to get 12 Cursed Coins.
I wish we could carry on after 140 games!
