    Can I have a little rant? ;)
New Legislation has been brought in in the UK for "Performing Animals". I was delighted as I hoped it would ensure healthier animals.
But no, my inspection is tomorrow and with two Council bods who have never met reindeer and no knowledge of livestock, just paper shufflers - give me 10 vets instead!
I have spent the last 3 weeks producing reams of paper work for them, which isn't needed, as it's only me so who will read it and to be honest if an Emergency, who's going look for a file and read it...
I will sleep tonight thinking about my Emergency Fire Drill.... We are talking about fields... My neighbours will lock me up if I run round shouting FIRE!

Honestly Karen, when these people are just wasting their time and energy on nonsense, when there are REAL problems out there with
"Performing animals" and how they are treated, fed, and where and how they are kept! Good Luck and hoping all goes well!

I hope all went OK with the visit to your "performing animals" As sanddollar said they need to concentrate on real performing animals and how they are treated etc. Unless of course Boris is performing acrobatics and magic tricks when you are not looking;)

You're right there Joanc. Sometimes I don't know how he gets the door open. And we can put Gandalf down as Houdini in training, Mischa the Amazing Bearded Lady.

Anyway my Inspection was postponed 1/2 before it was due as one of them was ill, so as of now I am not sure when it will be happening.

So it takes how many of them to do this foolishness?:wuerg: They must think your time is unimportant!

I'm thinking it's school holidays and said ill person was off last week (on Holiday) and we have a 4 day Weekend coming up for Easter. So I am guessing my inspection will be delayed at least 2 weeks... AND Hey Ho, if I am calving I will not give a "Monkey's cuss" which bit of paperwork I haven't supplied - My girls and babies will be far more important than stupid paperwork stating my training schedule - I don't have one... it's when they are ready. What I feed daily - come on, I micromanage that depending on grass growth, time of year, what additional browse I can acquire, etc etc! My escape policy... depends who they are imagining wants to escape - Boris a bucket of food he shouldn't have - but no one wants to escape!! The list is endless for this paperwork!
    I'm in a stink - heehee...
I need to get this Inspection over with so that I can concentrate on what is really important! :)

Oh yes "I" would tell them in no uncertain term if babies are being born that your herd is far more important than they are and they will have to work around you and your schedule! They need to know your reindeer are NOT TRAINED chimps but are domesticated reindeer
who enjoy going out in public and if they don't like going out in public they just stay home on the farm! I too hope you can get it over soon!

It is really ridiculous that it takes 2 of them to perform the inspection. No doubt that is due to the fact that one can rescue the other when the "performing animals" attack them. xD

Awwww! Its expression is great. It looks like it's not at all sure whether it likes all this outside stuff yet, and is considering a strongly worded letter to the management.

Shimmer, I can see where you are coming from... little ears back and a vaguely smug grin too. They can be born with attitude! :)

    On high alert today.
Twiglet has been restless, she can often be for 24 hours before calving but I am convinced it's time.
I am pretty convinced it will be another heifer - her 6th (and brown too). If it is born tonight or tomorrow, then I am thinking Ester - a shortened version of Easter??
