umm let me embarrass myself with these answers

    1) 45 45
    2)0.0000027 0.0002232
    3)-43 -27
    4)362880 362880

    Yes (3*3)+3 =12 I have 3 times the same number, in this case 3, and used 3 3 times:DxDo_O:music:

    I concur with Elemeef's answers. ;)
I want to say No for the second part of the puzzle but as Elemeef has demonstrated, it is possible. :music:
    Well done, Elmeef! :)

  3. I came out with the same numbers.
    3) could be a little tricky. We have to assume that the first number in the subtraction is positive... which I believe is correct anyway.

On the additional question I will follow the intuition of illy1996 and say No.
The question refers to adding up while the answer contains a multiplication.
Of course I could be having a language issue :p.
I can't think maths in English.

Sorry guys. I was trying to be a smartypants by using the wording of the question in a strange interpretation. Otherwise I too, would have answered 'no'. :)

  5. .... yes but you could also be correct in your interpretation.
    Let's wait for the judge:oops:.

Elemeef was the first not to make any mistake by using the calculator and to post the correct answers on the silly easy math.
Half of Game #14 correct = 0.5 pt rewarded.

I'm a bit suprised nobody found the correct answer on the additional question as it is possible to add up to 12 using three times the same number when you can't use number 4. It proves how easy it is to overlook 1 + 11 = 12.

Solve the puzzle by replacing the ? with the numbers 1 to 9, using each number once.

    (? * ?? - ?? + ???) / ? = 928

Xristos did a good job but I know at least 1 other possible answer.. I'ld say: knowing what you know now, go for it :)

Well done xristos and silim! When I tried to solve this one I ended up with this solution to game #15:

    (9 * 23 - 64 + 785) / 1 = 928

    123456789

    9 * 23 = 207
    207 - 64 = 143
    143 + 785 = 928
    928 / 1 = 928

    Game #16

Clint Wester goes on an Easter Egg hunt with his kids. Clint likes to challenge his kids and on every hidden egg he painted one number.
From the numbers on the eggs they have to make 24, the one way or the other. His son finds two eggs with a 3 on it and his daugther finds two eggs with an 8. How can they make 24 with these numbers?

Solution 1: (easy one) (Keeping in mind 8x3 = 24.)

    Answer:
    (So square root of 8x 8 ) x (square root of 3x3) = 8x3 =24

    _________________________________________________

    Solution 2: Tough

    8/(3-(8/3))=24

    Steps:
    3-(8/3)= (9- 8 )/3= 1/3

    therefore
    8/1/3= 8x3=24

Actually If we write the calculation in pen and paper, it will be easy to understand. Especially the division part. Use traditional division symbol, like that one we used in our maths class.

Rules !!! I always leave the rules making and rules enforcing to the betters. Its too much of hardwork for my brain to frame or enforce it. :pxD One has to think about all possiblities & stopholes. That's why I think I make lots of silly mistakes in maths or get struck in between.

I should thank habalala for starting this thread. Because it once again brought me to maths. After the school I lost touch with it. But now coming back once again to it. I forgot permutations and combinations. I think I have to once again refresh it. Before habalala gives any puzzle involving it. Thanks habalala.

    *edit*
SOS. I went to back to see the previous posts if I get points for this answer or I am under skip. [IMG][IMG] Just missed the skip. [IMG][IMG] Getting points. :D
