Results came back from Lotte... no abnormalities found. It was a Bank Holiday weekend and very high temps (she died early morning so heat not to blame). So thorough PM was not possible but main things for ruminants were checked - no bloat, no pulpy kidneys, not grass tenancy, appeared in excellent health! I will wait until my vet is back on duty but he is airing towards a heart attack last time we spoke.

Fecal worm counts came back for Belle (babies and a Control of Frodo) and all are ZERO TG so no resistance to Dectomax. I was worried about Belle as she came back with a huge count 16 days ago despite being wormed 5 weeks previously but when she was having loads of antibiotics... All good on that count, so just to get weight back on her. :) she continues to discharge but hungry!!! :)

I was suspecting it was heart failure on Lotte, given the sudden death to an apparently healthy animal; but perhaps your vet will be able to give a definitive answer.
Good news on no worms; and so happy about Belle !!:D With her being hungry I would bet the pounds will come on soon.

Willow I was thinking that also! Happy the rest of the herd is doing well and hoping Belle will get better each day!

So happy to hear about Belle. :inlove: :D :inlove:

My condolences on the sudden loss of Lotte. It seems it is usually sudden, or at least not much warning, less than 24 hrs. I hope that nothing else is brewing.

Baw, no warning at all. She appeared to be waiting by feed store for my arrival for her breakfast which was her usual place to be at mealtimes. I feel if she had felt unwell she would have been away from the area of high footfall at breakfast time. She had only just died when I found her.

I also wondered if Lotte had suffered a heart attack seeing that it was so sudden with no obvious signs of any stress. Pleased to hear that Belle is eating well and hopefully she will soon start to put the weight back on.

And So It Begins with Synchronised Stripping.
Both Frodo and Gandalf had stripped their velvet this morning.
So a quick separation & change of paddocks before their hormones go completely through the roof. Oh joy, time to start taking those blood pressure tablets again.

The waring is on the electric fence ?

Princess Cad - We don't use electric fencing with reindeer. It is on a wooden fence by the entrance to one of the boys paddock.

I thought reindeer were intelligent, they are, so maybe Casper and Lily have no respect for authority as they are taking no notice of the NO PARKING cone! :)

    Wow, mostly pink antlers. :)

Maybe they think it was put there to save the space for them.

Why is it that the Angelic looking baby girl I want to keep is an absolute demon - the rest of babies are sweethearts, but not Fleur.

I am black and blue today with trying to handle her gently. Same rear hoof, cow kicking same shin over and over again. If she ever makes the show team, she will be a wonderful reindeer that will be brave enough to do anything but she may very well become just a breeding girl. Time will tell. x :)

Bless her heart. She is just showing her female independence and proving that looks can be deceptive.:)
