The first of my girls starting to strip today, the beautiful Ria, in with Frodo (pic 1).
(Pic 2), Castrate Boris trying to wind up gentleman Frodo but for now Frodo is ignoring Boris and remaining very calm.
I had a theory that the girls first cycled a few days after they stripped their velvet but I am not sure now as, as Gandalf is chasing two of his girls mercilessly (they hardly have time to eat beyond the bare minimum and they have done little more than "chip" their velvet).
Pretty sure bulls can determine by sniffing urine when girls hormones are rising but for now Frodo is showing no interest in Ria (unless at dawn which is when most action happens).
It will be interesting to see who has the first calf in 2020!

 

Those two look beautiful and Healthy. You are off to a great start, Karen. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I can't believe it is almost "That" time of year again. Time sure does seem to fly by!

 

Hubby couldn't believe photo either, but I love my photos. No I'm not brave enough to enter his paddock at this time of year but I can lean through post and rails to take a good one and withdraw pretty quickly if need be.

23 - Two entire males (now in Rut), two castrated males, 10 adult females and 9 babies for the moment but some will be going to new homes shortly.

 

Karen who is the other castrate? I know Boris is one but have no idea who the other one is! Thanks
