So pleased to hear a little happy news about Hope. Keeping fingers crossed that there are more improvements :)

White babies Dove and Rudi have their own version of PPE today, but for sun NOT virus (they are not too happy).
Baby Hope continues to improve but her eyeballs are still worryingly bulbous.

Lol they will thank you one day as you are protecting them from the sun!;) Glad to hear Hope is still improving, now if only the swelling in her eyes would start to go away!:inlove: Thanks for the picture Rudi and Dove look so white!

Sorry folks for the lack of updates.. Hope and I are really going through the mill. She seemed to be doing so well despite consultations with deer specialists saying they believe a deep seated abscess behind her optic nerve but she would need to be stronger before x-rays to locate base of abscess and then a major op drilling either through her upper palate or under base of ear to drain abscess but this morning she absolutely crashed. So back to square one, or even -1 as she no longer wants to eat. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that, Karen. I wish the news was better. I will keep hoping for her and for you, but I know that despite your outstanding record of keeping your herd healthy you can't save them all.

That is very sad to hear as Hope has been a fighter up to this point! It must be very disheartening for you as you put everything you have into keeping your herd healthy and thriving! I am hoping Hope has the will to fight on, take care of yourself too Karen!

    Sleep tight little Hope.
You fought so hard and for so long but it became too much and we had to say goodbye this morning.
Since Wednesday she would no longer take her milk, eat pellets or willow (before she ate really well). I could only put glucose powder on her tongue as she wouldn't even swallow if I put milk at the back of her mouth, I was just hoping the stronger antibiotics and steroids would kick in before her body gave out.
But TBH, was I prepared to put her through eventual brain surgery to drain her brain abscess knowing that brain damage may already have been done I am not sure.. She made her own decision but it sucks...

Karen I am soooo sorry to hear that Hope is no longer on this earth BUT her pain and suffering is over and I have to believe she is in a better place!:inlove: My thoughts and prayers go out to you as I know how badly you take the loss of each one of your herd you lose
to illness or disease! Take care Karen, you did EVERYTHING you possibly could do!

Karen I a so sorry for your loss. It made many people take the time out to Pray . This is something we don't have enough of in this time of sadness with everything going on in our world today. Hope did give us a little ray of Hope and she was sure a fighter. She will
join many of Gods people and animals in a beautiful and peaceful place. May God comfort you knowing that that you did more
than your to best to help her.

So so sad for your painful loss, Karen.<3<3 We all grieve with you, as it is difficult to lose a loved one - of any sort. As you say, Hope made her own choice, and it was probably the best for her, not to suffer any longer.
How is the rest of the herd taking her loss?

I am so sorry to hear about baby Hope. I'm sure she is playing with a big muck pile and lots of willow leaves in a better place.

Her mother had been penned up with Hope but their bond was broken weeks ago, once Hope was no longer capable of feeding from her. But for Hope's sake, Ria (Hope's mother) was kept with her.
Thankfully Ria is not grieving but enjoying her freedom. Hmmn I wish she had been sad for a little while. :(

Maybe she was running out her grief as she couldn't think of anything else to do. Or maybe she was running for Hope, in celebration of what life she did have. My thoughts and blessings to you at this difficult time.
