Im constantly baffled by the high number of items the Farmarama developers expect players to give for many quests, especially those in the "special category". For example, expecting players to give a million's worth of animals for just one level of the menagerie quest is just completely unreasonable. This is meant to be a game, but the developers seem to expect players to put long hours into it. It's not a job you know? I find this ridiculous.

Perhaps if the developers rectified this nonsense, the game might not be as dead.

I previously posted this, but a moderator quickly locked the thread. I have posted this because I wish to open up a dialog with other players. Moderators, please do not lock this. Allow people to have their say.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to. The thing about Farmerama is that there are so many different game styles you can choose from. Some are event players, some are FSQ players, some are hoarders. You rarely find people who are all three, or who dedicate their time equally to more than one. I partake in some events, but my priority is usually FSQs. Menageries aren't a necessary part of the game. They certainly help, but you will probably find that those who typically partake in events over FSQs aren't going to need a menagerie, and those who partake in FSQs over events will have more ability to harvest/breed the required donation. You can of course also purchase the required amount from the market, which is another option many like to go for. The overall point is, no one is forcing you to take part in the quests, so if you don't like that particular challenge you're more than welcome to skip it.

Who says the game is dead? They have many loyal players, hundreds of whom log in every day. They are clearly still bringing in enough money to stay afloat, and the game continues to develop and progress. If the game were on the brink of collapse because of a lack of participation then I might agree with the "dead" comment, but I think until such point as the game is at risk of folding, your personal lack of enjoyment isn't sufficient to suggest the game is on its last legs.

I'm not quite sure what the point of this comment is. The moderators made it very clear to you in both threads that your message was posted in the wrong place. They are not preventing you from having your say, they are not silencing your voice. They are asking you to adhere to the rules of the forum and post your comments in the appropriate section.

This is a long term game. There are many people playing who have been consistently logging on for 10 years now, or more. Or those like myself that first started playing near the beginning of the game, then let it go for years, only to come back recently.
It is not meant to be a fast-paced game, however, you can make any game move fast if you want to throw real money at it.

I agree, 1 million EV points in donations is extremely hard, and it takes a while. There are players out there that took a year to get Crystal falls open fully (I'm not there yet either and I am extremely impatient). I find it extremely difficult when the tasks to open locations etc require so many animals, yet there are regular events that also require the same animals, making it impossible to do both.

I have noticed there are a lot of newish players that are level 50+ within the first week of playing, due to receiving a high EP prize somewhere along the line that bumps them from eg level 4 ( and learning) to level 40+ immediately. That is awesome, as it opens the game up more quickly but it can have its disadvantages, giving a false representation of how fast the game can move. In the early days there were no high payout prizes, no back to back events with high giving rewards, gifts between neighbours were animals worth 1 or 2 EP or 1 CC (they are still in the gifting tabs), no buffs or crafting, and very early on no market. Levelling up was slow and tedious. It took me nearly 3 years to get to level 85 back then (spending minimally). I think that is possibly why some players stop playing shortly after reaching the 40 levels, because it suddenly becomes a little harder.

I am not sure what makes you think the game is dead, as said before the game is still around after almost 11 years, with regular well developed events and is still constantly evolving. That would not happen if the game was not popular.

Every game is different to everyone, depending on what you want to do with it.

I know. My point was more that the comment shouldn't be there in the first place.

AndrewJCNicholls I get it fully. I hate the same thing but I pitch a **ich to myself or sometimes the board but then I just don't do that FSQ at least not in a hurry. Yea we have to pick and choose which thing is worth the donations. Event? FAQ? Just trying to offer a little help, hope it helps. Find out what offers the most value. When it comes to the animals and put out as many as you have or can afford to buy them for CC's.
    My top
five valued animals (everyone's barn is going to be different)
    1. Manta Ray..................10,251
    2. Dragon Fly...................9,875.......28,000 CC
    3. Green Tree Monster.......5,546
    4. Seal.............................4,487.......12,000 CC
    5. Zebra...........................4,201
    6. Giraffe.........................3,043.......50 BBs (real money if you are willing)
    7. there are more special animals like the ones in pink. The ones in black you can buy with CC (in-game money) these are the 5 top value animals you can buy with CC's once you unlock the temple hills chambers boards.
    8. Dolphin.........................2,906........9,900 CC
    9. Shark............................1,140.........7,700 CC
    10. Tucan...............................905.......12,000 CC
I bought all the animals I could fit on the playfields and spent weeks just harvesting them with either trees and/or crops in the extra small spaces left over.

You can do the same with the trees find the highest value and just plant groves of them. Don't forget the check the value of any special trees and animals. One time I was growing nothing but all the trees I had. The mainland and the islands were nothing but trees for two-three months. Then when I looked into the FSQ I had a great amount of fruit to work with for donations.

ctindaldavies you are totally on to something 0-40 level can and does happen to fast. Yes, it does help open up the game and then you find out you actually have to put some actual, well a great deal of thought into your own gaming. I read the forms A LOT and still learning. For real joining Brokes Golden Boot event thought me sooo much about the game. Reading the event board and applying what I learned.
    Anyway getting off-topic.

AndrewJCNicholls This farm FrootloopGrove now my main farm but it was not my first or my last. I have been farming for 6-7 years and do not feel like I'm in a deserted, ghost farmland at all.
There are so many ways to play this game. Hope you find your nitch and HAPPY FARMING

I love your list @FrootloopGrove. Out of that I have some zebras, and 1 giraffe I cannot feed. But it gives me something to strive for.

Your welcome I hope it helped in some way.
I forgot to mention to you to do the same with growing crops. Especially when you are doing FSQ tasks that want millions in value. Grow the ones that give the most point value. It may take some time, slow going is not my fav things either but that's part of playing this game. When growing the long crops and not willing to use buffers and super grows and such there has been times I could skip a day unless I was to log in to give my neighbors and friends their daily gift.
Personally, the first thing I learned to do was open all my land (main and island) and on the Island work toward opening all the chambers boards on
temple hill. Then you have more flexibility when it comes to opening items you may need for feed or such. Unlike the mainland that forces unlock items when leveling up on the Island, you can unlock just about anything as long as you have the Golden Bananas and the boards open. You do have to unlock things in a row in order to get to the next item in that row but once the boards are open you are free to use any of them in any order. That tip came in handy when I needed the Macadamia Tree for opening land on Crystal Falls. Aaaa so many strategies and ways to go. I don't want to confuse you and the more I type to more unclear I feel I'm being.
So I'll leave you with this; if you have your heart set on having the menagerie quest open then check in your barn inventory for items needed crops, animals, tree fruit then set your search/sort box to value and see what you have and grow (go) from there.

Hope this is coherent I still need my coffee.
