I’ve been thinking a lot about the giver situation here at Farmerama. Over the years, givers have become the strategic focus of gameplay. Crops are harvested and replaced. Givers are not.

This has led to significant decorative bloat: we have parks, museums, coasts, lighthouses, and cloud rows, yet we still run out of space, leaving us with overflowing inventories.

Cloud rows were a temporary solution at best. Partially-completed cloud rows accumulate for years; missing pieces are often hard to obtain. Many players give up or don’t try at all. And most players end up with half-completed “in-progress” rows that contribute little to gameplay.

I propose a radical rethink of the giver system—one that keeps the animations and decorations we love but makes givers strategic, manageable, and meaningful. The core idea: shift from permanent, cluttered givers to limited-charge, purposeful rewards that enhance gameplay rather than dominate it.

Think Piccolo Wonder Box for every item in your inventory.

    How It Could Work

    1. Award only limited-charge givers going forward

    2. Convert Existing Givers (Except Pets) into Limited-Charge, Consumable Givers

    • Effects could include EP, buffs, crafts, CCs, BBs, stars, coupons, SG, SSG, etc.-- tangible rewards related to the original event or reward (to be determined)
    • When current legacy givers are deleted from the field, they automatically become temporary givers with a limited number of charges.
    • When temporary givers are removed from the field they are deleted from inventory- no more clutter
    3. Replace Cloud Rows with Permanent 1×1 Givers
    • Cloud rows would be phased out
    • Items removed from cloud rows are converted to temporary givers
    • Once all items are removed from a cloud row, the row closes automatically, cleaning up legacy clutter.
    • Players who completed a cloud row before conversion receive permanent, moveable 1×1 givers with the same effects and cooldowns.

    Why This System Is Better

Solves Farm & Storage Bloat while providing compensation for earned rewards
    • Current problem: players have hundreds of givers and limited space-- low-value givers accumulate in inventory, storage is clunky and hard to sort
    Adds Strategy Without Complexity
    • Limited-charges preserve usefulness and respect past effort while preventing endless accumulation.
    • Players choose: which givers to place, when to activate them, whether to save charges for events.
    • This introduces meaningful decisions instead of passive EP farming.
    Makes Repeatable Content Fun Again
    • Because givers are consumable:
      • Events can reuse decorations or recycle designs.
      • New players can catch up.
      • Veterans still benefit.
    • No inflation, no clutter.
    Preserves Emotional & Visual Value
    • Keeps original design, artwork, animations, etc. intact.
Encourages re-earning (or buying) of high-value rewards
    • No more years-long passive EP farming

    Thoughts?

So you want my Barnyard Bill tree to be a limited charge item? And my magic trees? No, I don't want this to happen.
I waited a long time for a Piccolo box to turn into a BB tree. Why do you want to punish me by limiting it's use?

If you don't want givers sitting in your inventory, give them away or cash them in during Gift and Trade. Someone else may want them.

I totally get it—you’ve worked hard for your Barnyard Bill tree, magic trees, and the Piccolo box that became a BB tree. Those are meaningful rewards, and I’m not suggesting we take away their value or erase your achievements or your ability to profit from them in the future.

The idea isn’t to punish players or remove the use of these items—it’s to prevent givers from overtaking the farm and inventory space over time.

Certain items should understandably not be reduced to limited charges... like pets and BB trees and magic trees.

    • Your existing BB tree and magic trees could remain as permanent items
    • BB trees, magic trees, and similar items could continue to be permanent, attainable items
    • Other future givers, especially EP givers, could be limited-use or temporary, which lets the game continue giving new rewards without creating clutter that blocks storage or slows down gameplay.
    • Other cloud rows and leftover legacy givers could be converted into consumable versions without messing with your BB trees and Magic Trees
It could also be structured so that nothing becomes limited charge until you delete it.

But the giver situation has been an unscalable problem since the early days, and it will continue to grow and need a solution.

This is about preventing the accumulation of hundreds of givers that players often can’t place or use, while still keeping the emotional and visual appeal intact. You wouldn't have to lose your BB trees.

But I assure you, no one wants my gazillion rainbow trees at the G+T, they are useless.

I may have read this wrong, (I usually do) but I have over 600 cloud rows, most of which are complete. Are you saying I should now have 600 no.1x1 things to find space for? I don't mind have stuff in storage, I just ignore it unless I want to replace something. I also use Green Meadow just for givers, which are removed for events. I think a better solution would be to have larger capacity storage houses for trees, stables and workshops and ornaments. I also understand that you can put a lot of stuff on Edelweiss Valley, although I have not progressed very far with that so far.

You make a good point, I guess BP has created a monster they will never be able to get away from.

I do not enjoy "farming" cloud rows, but I see they are too entrenched in the game to change now.

The shift towards EP givers over the years is one of the main things I dislike about the game. It's cluttered and disorganized. The GUI for navigating them is awful and BP won't fix that in my lifetime, it took them a decade to add multi spins to the farm wheel :/

And I'm not remotely interested in more "space" to cram more givers. I'd rather have space for farming on the FARMING game.

And I've seen no other ideas for bringing the game back to its roots. This is one of many reasons I play only once a year now.

Nope, not feeling it at all! Some of those cloud rows are +1 crop/animal/products/MM stuff and some were hard to get. There's already enough strategy with those to keep us on our toes right now.

I'd rather see the licence for selling back unused givers during the G&T event to be lifted and let us convert the clutter in CCs even if it's for a small amount. Also, let us exchange/gift the givers won from the wheel to other players so they can fill them up too. I fo not need more super-grow & all, I already manage quite well with the crates and Jumpo trees.

I'm sorry, but this would be a hard pass for me.

    I agree.

This is the problem as I see it. The entire game has become about buff-hunting in cloud rows.

But I see others like it, so I won't bother having any new ideas :)

It's not bad having ideas: this could be implemented in Edelweiss Valley, I won't have a problem with it at all knowing that we'd never run out of space for givers. But completely changing how the game works after two decades would probably mean losing long time players.

I'd like to see cloud rows that rewards +1 something to become FSQs instead, so that newer players could get them too. But lets face facts, paying players are the ones keeping this game going for those who cannot afford to spend real money and they want perks to go with the spending they're doing...

There's a small base of really generous players that help lots of newer players during the G&T event, sending the second copy of givers they get. Of course not all of the events give out a second set of givers, but many do.

New ideas are not bad. I just believe this one wasn't completely thought through. How many times did Edison fail on the light bulb before he got it right?

I do not like idea changing cloud rows to giver items. It would be a nightmare to harvest just part of hundreds of items and saving some of them for another moment. I never harvest all my cloud rows at same time. I also place my piccolo boxes to certain giver area so I'll have all those rare ones which I want to save to special occasions, like when I am prepared to start instant stables with certain cloud rows and pets. I try to avoid using Pet and bonus harvester on that area.

I would be happy, if we just get better inventory, where I can find plain givers in section and "booster" givers in another. There's been a lot of use for those extra givers to fill new cloud rows. It would also be nice to have mice over which would show basic details of giver on field, what boost/items it give and length and points etc.

I agree that unused deco items in the barn don't feel much like a reward but I don't like limited charge items! Please please do not do more limited charge items. They're a hassle to change and keep track of. Just give me 20 powerfeed and 3 million EP instead of a deco item that takes 20 days of harvesting to give me 20 powerfeed and 3 million EP. Then I will probably forget the used limited charge items on the field and they stand there useless for ages.

the best thing IMO would be just have enough cloud rows to put everything to good use. You could buy cloud rows whose value gets determined by which giver items you put on them. So you would get the intended benefit from them but not need a zillion extra playfields for them.

Fantasyrama of old used to have a giver item area that could be expanded upwards.

More readily available museums, arboretums and menageries would help, as well as arboretums that you can put turbo trees in.

Or make it possible to update giver items with stacking other giver items on top of them. So it's the same amount of space taken but more effect. At least the ones that you can win a gazillion similar ones from the wheel should be stackable.

I echo what others have shared - totally agree with the sentiment that we are overflowing with giver items, but not on board with the proposed solution. I'd like a recycling situation where we could donate our unwanted giver items back to the game. Maybe even a situation where we donate our items back to the game and are then given licenses to look through what's been donated and take our pick of the available items?

This is similar to G&T, except that in G&T you can only partake in a trade if you have the item the other player wants to swap, or have pre-agreed on a gifting approach. If we can put anything we don't want in a pile and then take our pick from anything in the pile (with licenses, to mitigate people completely ransacking the thing) this could promote greater engagement. I don't do much in G&T because I just don't have the right items to make a swap, so many things remain in my inventory that I don't want because the set-up of the system just doesn't work for me.

Yes, like a communal pool where we could drop what we do no want / need and players could purchase licences like in G&T and get them! This would work fine if BP would expend markets and G&T to more than our one server our game is on!

why not have better buyable cloud rows that give better buffs so you can offload useless givers on to the cloud rows and out of the inventory????;)

currently the only cloud rows left to buy for me cost bb's and give rubbish rewards like 3000 cc's or 1000 ep.

im level 239 needing 5billion+ ep and rising each time to level up and have over 300 million cc's in my bank....not worth spending my bb's to buy these rubbish cloud rows with their rubbish rewards
    -.-

give me decent cloud row rewards and i'll spend bb's to open the cloud rows and clear my inventory of givers.

for now i just keep spending my bb's on more menageries and manufactories.;)

Exactly! It's quite similar to G&T but I do find that in the event as it is currently structured, so many items go un-swapped because we have to pre-select what we want in return. There are so many times I see something I want but can't get because I don't have the specific item the other player is looking for, even if I have many other things that may be of interest to them; and the same issue vice versa, where I can't get rid of something I no longer need because what I've asked for in return just isn't available in the inventory of the people who want what I have - even though I'm sure they've got something I could make use of, and/or I'd be happy to just give it to them for free. It's too restrictive in its current format, but if we could just use licenses to look through what's been donated and take our pick this would really maximise the opportunity to a) get rid of things we don't want (because now people can actually take them) and b) get access to things we need that others are giving away
