Where have you gotten it? I planted leeks, Turkish Melissa and garlic last night and not one drop of scrap metal since the inception of Donkey Breeding. I also have animal pens out, still nothing. I have rare trees out, nada.

now these metals are very rare. I have only one but I don't know where I got it.
but there are chances of getting them from toolboxes from your neighbors
the only thing you can do is hoping to get them:music:

I got one yesterday from a field of gooseberries. But they are so random I don't think there is a certain crop.

do you have your Farming trophy out?-the one with the animal head, it might help. Because maybe it's an animal pen drop not a crop drop...I've collected 2 now...
Here is an image of how I got one of my metal scraps. I am not sure if that was from trees something. I am sure it wasn't from crops because the EP is rounded off nicely to 140 and I don't get rounded off numbers for my crops.

They are very rare. I got my first one from a harvest of animal pens. They are random drops and it doesn't matter if it is crops, trees, or animals. On my 2nd farm, I got one from a harvest of carrots! But nothing since then. I have a neighbor who has confirmed she has received one from the daily neighbor gift of toolbox and the others from FSQ rewards of toolboxes. I have done all the FSQs I can so used up those toolboxes long ago (remember that was the same strategy some used to get chopsticks). I did not get any scrap metal from the toolbox rewards during the event but did get zen rakes. Good luck!

I've only gotten 2 on this farm, both from the event toolbox rewards. My lower level farms are doing much better one of them has gotten 11 already and the other 9. I don't think it matters what you grow.... just random and rare.

Yes, I have both trophies out (8% animal, 11% crop). I have grown a variety of crops from lettuce to leeks. I have a Turbo Jumbo tree, I have Jumbo horse and pig stables. It almost sounds like I'd have better luck if I were a lower level player. Interesting that you have EP listed in your log, suezoroc. I don't get that in my log. The only ones I have recieved were from event toolboxs and then only enough to build one stable. I guess I should be thankful for that. Thanks for the input everyone. :)

I agree with you too, CaliChrome, that lower players get more luck!.
Oh, I wonder is other people get EP's listed in their logs...

suezoroc, you mentioned the animal trophy, maybe I misunderstood you, but I just wanted to let you know that both trophies affect drops from crops, trees and animal pens. It is only called the animal trophy because you have to donate animals to get it. But it effects crops and trees too :)

I got another scrap metal I think when I harvested spinach from the magical glade.
3 more and I will built my cookware forge!

    Calichrome,

It's certainly random, so cross your fingers. As Mir correctly reminds above, trophies affect every drop-generating object in lands. Anyway, just for the record, I've just got one from a 2x2-plot with spelt in one of my 2 lower level farms.

In my main (this ID), I built the workshop pen but after having completed a task in quest -I don't remember which one but it was one of those requesting for products- that gave 3 XXL toolboxes. And I got 2 from the donkey breeding quest toolboxes. (I've been saving as if they were chests full of gold all remaining tasks I have in quests that give XXL toolboxes as a reward; I suggest everyone to do the same; it seems this new tool thing is to be the modus operandi BP will have from now on with new animals to breed -culprits return to the crime scene, it is said; so, be ready..... LOL; don't forget peacocks, sloths and anacondas are still to be launched as breedable animals and I bet my left arm their workshops will also ask for new tools; don't rule out rare animals to get breedable, also-).

Lower level is certainly a different perspective for you than for me considering it is a level 82 crop. I'm not there yet.

I do agree that the toolbox rewards from quests are very valuable now. Wish I had more of them left.

I bought the 3 XXL during the last sale, and got one from each of those. One more from the toolbox in the Donkey short-time breeding quest, and one more from another source (harvesting?), I can't remember now. I am not sure why I bought the toolboxes, it kills me to do so when I have thousands upon thousands of every other kind of tool - so many I will never even come close to using them.

Before with the zen rakes, it was many days (a week or more), before I had enough to build even one. And even then it was so random - I got one zen rake from a field of carrots. Aluntino's strategy for saving toolbox-giving quests is a great one. I have sadly completed most of mine (with the exception of some breeding quests that give toolboxes, but it may be years before I get to those levels for some of those animals, so...I go on the hard way). I did manage to complete the remaining low-hanging-toolbox FSQ quests during Zen Rake Mania, but those did not yield any of the new tool.

I think it really is just utterly random.

suezoroc - my log shows EP/BEP, anything purchased in the market, bonuses (owl pets), harvest rewards (drops), and gifts

First and foremost... All drops are random.
On my first and third farm I have gotten enough scrap metal to build a basic forge. Plus this morning I got one scrap metal on each of those farms while harvesting. On my second farm I've gotten 3 scrap metal, as mentioned in another thread, from the quest over the weekend. Not a single scrap metal as drop since donkey breeding began. On the other hand... best skips on 2nd farm.

I'm super busy this week but instead of logging in only once a day I'm going to login twice a day until I get enough scrap metal to build a forge on my second farm. It will be difficult and an inconvenience but... FOCD rules. lol My strategy is similar as mentioned in other threads... I will plant long grow crops as fit my schedule, w/ water and refinements to speed them up. If you really want to push the drops then use all amendments w/ appropriate refinements on 2x2s and harvest right away and replant. I say 2x2s because of the SG. Otherwise it's up to you which size plot you use.

This is a fallacy. I too believed this when I first started playing. I think many of us did.

It really is random - I got one from a field of corn, but on my longer crops (carnations etc.) not a sausage.

I got none from all the harvests. I think it's region based; regionalism or tribalistic, or -edited-. Just like the Flowers.
Why am I not getting one if it's not???

    :(:(:(

SuzeeRabbit, I log in multiple times per day and it has no effect. I refuse to use anything more than water and manure unless I'm doing a timed event. I can't afford it. I will just have to practice my "saintly" patience. At some point they should become easier to get (like once they introduce another animal breeding or after the next G&T). :wuerg:

I only use SG for starting event seeds, usually. If you haven't done anything with Refinements yet, check into them. Find some crops that will fit into your schedule after the refinement is activated and work on them. For instance carnations w/ refinement and water are 13:01. I love them for times like this and before an event that will require drops. And yes patience... w/ water. LOL!

I remember looking at refinements when I first started. It seemed very complicated. I couldn't make it work. I also didn't have the volumes of plants it required. The negatives seemed to outweigh the positives. Since I have started, I've NEVER had a weed problem so I didn't go looking at it again. I will look into it however, carnations are not yet available to me.
