Dienstag Are you a teacher in school?
In Greece the time changed the last weekend.

solotime I said that if it just snowed just a little bit and the road is white we don't have school. Sofi said that in Athens it must snow more for school to close. :)

Yes it was a difficult subject and I expressed the opinion that you said. Sometimes it is not bad not to tell the whole truth.

Arielh, I'm not a teacher. But 2 of my little ones had the field trip. Parents are welcome to drive with their child. Now with every one in school, I was able to drive. And because it was sure, we would be back in time to pick up the others.
Being in that feeding cage gave me a little bit of that feeling, you might get, if you have watched "Birds" from Alfred Hitchcock. Birds all over you, even the sweater or the purse. (My sons headxD)

Here is it with the snow, like at your home. 1 cm ( about 1/2 inch)of snow and every thing/one is in chaos. Even if you know how to drive in snow, the locals usually don't. School is delayed or out. That makes it hard for working parents. And last winter was enough snow, that we had to have "make up" days. Meaning making up the lost days, not face coloring.;)

I haven't watched the film but I have heard of it.
I understand your point though. :)

@Dienstag, When I was in third grade, every time an event or field trip was going on, two ladies would come in to help.
They would bring supplies. So I guess it's kind of like you did then? Cause you went along with the kids on the trip.

Haha, birds was a weird movie. But I never got scared of it. xD
I watched it as a kid.

@Arielh, Oh, sorry for getting you two mixed up!
One thing though, if it's too cold outside they delay or cancel school.
Happen many times cause winter was really bad last year. With the wind, it was
    something like -46º.

wow -46º!!! I have no idea how cold that would be like!
The coldest temperature that we maybe have in a winter is higher than 5Cº. Before some years there could be like -10Cº...

Just come to the US if we're having that cold weather again. xD
It's not something you'll like, I was using an outdoor ATM and the wind started
blowing and it was the -46º. I had a sweater and winter coat on and was freezing very bad!

I am a kind of person that likes more the winter than summer. I like cold weather more than the hot weather of summer. This is kind of ironic because I live in Greece. I would like to experience very cold weather but if I do I am not so sure If I would like it:p

That's why when I go to Florida I never miss the snow. I seen it too many times xD
Plus it's nice to be out of the cold.

The last winter was really bad. Even the south was happy with spring arriving finally. Below 40 ish Fahrenheit is almost as much below in Celsius. So, Siberia could have gotten zealous.:D

You should come here to where I live tomorrow, then. It's supposed to snow and get cold, with a low of -2 degrees Fahrenheit, which isn't bad in January, but a bit intense in early November:wuerg:. Especially as it was in the 50s today, lol.

I just want to remind everyone to come and vote for the Farmer's Choice costume winner in the costume contest thread (They're Creepy and They're Spooky... is the name of the thread for those who missed it)! Voting goes until tomorrow, so please show your support for our wonderful contestants and pick your favorite!:)

I mean that my avatar is the clown fish that you get from breeding fish.
Also, I couldn't make the water show more in my avatar cause I used too much KB. (Memory space)

    Hi all! {{big hugs}}
I haven't been on the forum in a bit and though I would swing by... and come to find out you have been talking about snow!! :D

We've only gotten about 3 inches total on the ground here in Michigan. Yesterday at work, was the children's first time going outside with snow pants and snow boots! (We have extra winter clothes for those children who forget theirs). Before yesterday we had lent out mittens, but adding snow pants and boots yesterday made getting dressed for outside play much more involved! We have a poster with pictures to help our little ones know what to put on first... otherwise we have children trying to put snow pants on while wearing boots, or trying to zip their coats with mittens on!
:music:xD Gotta love the cuteness of those moments!

I was in charge of making sure we had enough of each (and in the right sizes!) of boots and snow pants to lend out to those who didn't bring them in! Such delight in watching the wee preschoolers outside, all bundled up while laying in and playing in the snow! ♥

@solo ~ love your avatar! It looks really nice!

@Dienstag ~ Can I ask how old your little ones are?? I can only imagine that having 4 young ones in the house keeps you pretty busy! My daughter is 15 :eek:o_O and I cannot believe how fast time has flown!

@Arielh ~ you asked about Lent in a previous post. It is a Christian practice that spans the 40 days from Ash Wednesday (Feb 18th, 2015) to Easter Sunday. Different churches have different ways of celebrating it. Basically it is a time of spiritual preparation and focus during the days leading to Easter. Many people will fast (not eat) certain foods during this time. (One year in high school a friend and I fasted chocolate - that was hard!) It has been a while since I personally have fasted during Lent, but I think this coming year I might change that. To me, the purpose of fasting is to remove something - then take that change to remind you to focus attention on prayer and what is most important (loving Jesus and loving people!) ;)

On the Friday before Easter (Good Friday), there are church services at noon remembering when Jesus died on the cross for all sins. Easter is the best of all... when we come together to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead to show he has power even over death!!
    :D
So I hope that helps explain things up a bit! :) (I tried to keep it simple so things wouldn't get lost in translation!) o_O;)

I am short on time but wanted to stop by and say "hi" and share that snapshot of my day with the little ones! {{hugs}} My college classes wrap up in a month and I am so excited!! I am making time for "me" today by heading out later this morning for coffee with a friend!
    :)
    Have a great one everyone!! {{big hugs}} ~CJ

    Hey CJAT,
I have a college girl, and the other four are from 5 Years til 11 Years (in January). They know how to dress (usually). My job is just to remind them of the jacked, hat, gloves (two of the same, if possible). For some reason socks and gloves are mostly singles.
As soon, as the lawn is not white, they thinks it is warm. :)

We are about to start our advent baking. It's fun, if you ignore the cleaning after. But by now, they try to help with that.

    Hi CJAT!
I understand completely what Lent is and there is also in Greece.
Some people fast, mostly the most religious but I as a teenager I only don't eat meat for a few days.
I remember one time that a friend of mine was fasting and she came to my home and accidentally I offered her a toast with a piece of turkey and she didn't know... ohh I ruined her fasting but I didn't do it on purpose...

I am jealous of you getting snow:music:

    Well, I have had tons of fun lately on the forum (the latest Mystery Farmer was a blast!!) I will have to log myself off soon and get to work on homework again (and get myself back out of the habit of checking the forum quite so often lol!) {{happy sigh}}

But while I was here, I thought I'd best show off my siggy! I found a link to a thread Mir had on how to upload links for siggys and was quite embarrassed at how easy it was (and how long I had been procrastinating getting it set up!) Thank you to both Toekie (editing my siggy to the new forum size in her siggy shop - currently closed) and solo for further editing the text and helping to remind me to get it uploaded lol!!

But I wanted to stop by and see how everyone was doing and catch up!

@solo ~ love the siggy!! It looks great!

Oh, you have such a nice range of kids!! At work I made a visual poster to help our kids get dressed for outside... as it's amazing how complicated it is... strangely enough, snow pants don't pull over boots and coats that well, and it's quite hard to zip your coat or put your hat on while wearing mittens! As for things matching... kids don't care! They will put on one pink mitten and one red glove and be happy to be outside! (Besides who says you can't have "crazy sock day" everyday??) Okay... yes, make sure you reserve a pair of each for when the grandparent come to visit or you go to the store...
    ;)

@Arielh ~ Oh! I bet you felt horrible! I've noticed that it's super easy to get legalistic with fasting, but it's really the heart behind it that matters most! :) Since I work with preschoolers I usually don't go completely without food when I fast. At work, we eat meals with the little ones "family style" and the adults set the example for trying a variety of foods. So when there I eat as I normally would, but at home I stick to fruit and veggies.

It's interesting - my hubby is on a minister's forum and he recently found out that the churches back in the day (or at least those in our fellowship) used to set aside Tuesdays as a day each week to take time to fast and pray. So since we last talked, I have started fasting on a regular basis! At first it was really challenging to do, but it's gotten a little easier. Now my biggest challenge is being aware that I don't get caught up in it becoming a legalistic thing! For example, this past Tuesday Jora and I made dozens and dozens of cookies for church - while I didn't eat any on Tuesday, I still licked my fingers (and then washed them as the food was for others beside my family!) ;)

But overall, it's about being His in what you do, and not in following a bunch of strict rules... If you are a Christian, our Father has given us his Spirit who lives inside us and has written the requirements of the law on our hearts. Translation: if you truly love someone then you will naturally want to do the things that makes that person happy! (No one ever increased their love for someone by following rules, but if you love deeply, then the rules are not rules but instead expression of love!)
    :inlove:
