Hi all, I am here in Western New York where all the bad snow is. It is bad here and could get worse before it is over. 10 people have already passed away and most from heart attacks trying to clear the snow, roofs and walls are collapsing in homes and businesses, roads still closed, and alot of driving bans. Now with the threat of warmer weather Sunday and rain we could get flooding. Me and my husband are fine here but I worry about everyone with the snow on their roofs especially my mother-in-law. Heavy snow on roofs with rain coming is going to make that snow alot heavier. It is so sad that I been reading comments from all the news since it is national now and people are so rude. Like if you dont like the weather move, but we will not move as we all help each other, neighbors helping neighbors, thats what Buffalo is all about. We will get through this just need some prayers for ones that are still closed up in their homes or heaven forbid still buried in a car somewhere as there are alot of them.

Wow, I didn't think the weather would be that bad!!
I live in Pennsylvania, very close to Buffalo. But not even one snow flake fell out of the sky.

I hope things get better soon for everyone!

My family is originally from PA, and I consider myself a northerner at heart...but times like this, I'm glad to have moved down to the DC area. Desi I will be thinking of you guys up there in Buffalo, and I will send good vibes and prayers. It's very thoughtful of you to ask for prayers for others, and I hope the snow on the roofs of Buffalo becomes powdery and light. Stay warm and dry, and take care of yourselves and each other!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, you are all so kind. 2 more people passed away during the night, prayers going out to their families. My husband was finally able to make it to work today so he will be going over to check on his mom this afternoon. Just talked to her on phone and she is doing okay. Thank you all again. God Bless desaray17

I've seen the pics on TV. My heart goes out to all of you hit by the Polar Vortex. Esp those of you getting hit by all the "lake effect" snow. Must be scary. Wishing all of you the bestest! Sending you warm thoughts! :) :) :)

I heard a quote on Criminal Minds the other day... I'll have to look it up... something about...
"What we say/do is our karma, what others say/do is their karma." I try not to worry too much about the karma people choose to take on for themselves. I barely have enough energy to worry about my own karma. ;) In other words... ppl who intentionally post mean comments are either immature or -edit-. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU. It's about them.

Hello fellow snow mate! Glad to know you are doing ok. My family and I are doing alright as well. My kids will have no reason to ever want for snow again. Stay warm and stay safe when out shoveling to freedom.

8)Oh, desi20!....Thank you for posting this very sad news. I didn't know about this, but will start following this news now. Yes, of course you have our prayers!:inlove: Please keep us posted on the welfare of your Mother-in-law and yourselves - what with the rain predicted for tomorrow.

A few years back when I was married, we lived first in Youngstown by Lake Ontario near the Gorge, then moved to Lewiston on the Escarpment overlooking the gorge and ArtPark (how I do miss THAT place!)....and even though we sometimes got hit hard...I remember how very much harder it was for Buffalo!! Almost legendary! I will never forget the snow tales we would hear about your snow storms!!

I hope you and your family will all make it through with minimum difficulties - and NO injuries!:inlove::)

Hi desi! Have been praying for you since I saw your thread the day the event started! (I just wasn't logged in and didn't have time to reply then).

Glad to hear that your hubby made it home and that you were able to talk with your MIL on the phone! My heart goes out to those trapped in cars, losing family, homes or businesses due to the massive amounts of snow!

I also echo farmlily's request that you keep us updated with your family and all that is going on!

I also agree with Suzee... it's their lack of understanding and immaturity speaking (reflects badly on them and not on you!)

@pepsi~ was thinking of you too dear! Glad to know you are okay! I remember you talking about on the old forum about the snow and skiing in your area. Lately the weather we have been having during the winters seems to be kinda extreme...

Desi - That is sweet of you to ask for prayers for others safety and well being. I did pray for the comfort for all and that none or as few as possible lose their lives. I hope all of your area stays warm and comfortable during these stressful times. I am very grateful that you have electricity and the internet to keep you entertained and connected to the world. I also prayed that God sends the rain to another area that was not hit by the snow.

I do hope that both Desi and Pepsi stay dry safe and warm, as well as, all your loved ones.

I do believe in Karma and I have found that the best cure for any form of negative Karma is Gratitude, the Acceptance of God's will, and Humility. These 3 things have helped me through much of the ugliness that seems to perpetuate here in the word. Also, not judging helps a lot. I have found it is best to allow people - including the haters be. Let them be who they want to be as long as they do not physically interfere with you.

Prayers for you and yours, Desi and pepsi, glad to hear you're safe. Will also send up prayers for those who haven't been as fortunate during the storm, and those still missing, and especially your mom in law. It always makes me realize how much I take for granted the blessings I have when I hear about these tragedies, especially this time of the year as we prepare for holidays and family. Thank you for reminding us to take time to care about others, even (especially) those we don't know. God bless.

8)Hello, fellow Farmers...some photos are available online now about the incredible "once-in-a-lifetime"(as they are calling it) snowstorm that covered Buffalo and some surrounding areas....with up to SIX FEET of snow!! I have never seen such amazing photos! How difficult it must be to be trapped in that kind of 'impossible to get around in' blanket! It covers everything - or so it seems! In all its beauty - and it is truly beautiful - it is also deadly, as Desi has mentioned.

For anyone interested in seeing photos (especially you, Arielh! :):inlove: And all our farmer friends from countries without snow), they should be available on your local weather stations - International Weather news.
Hope you all get to see what Desi, her family, and all those affected by this incredible storm are going through.
Many, many prayers for you all!!:inlove:

Just wanted to give you all another update. My husband and brother-in-law got over to moms and got the snow off her roof, amen. By the time they were done snow was piled up 10ft around the house. Alot of people still snowed in and now all these flood warnings, not looking good. Snow is melting too fast. I pray that everyone makes it through this as I would hate to hear about another death, its so sad.
@pepsishot I hope you are all still doing good, this has been a nightmare. Prayers going out to you. please be safe.

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers. We are strong and all of Buffalo and its suburbs will get through this as its neighbor helping neighbor. A big thank you goes out to all that have come forward to help those that need it. God Bless desaray17

@farmlily3 Thank you for letting everyone know about the pics online. You can go to -edit- links removed for all the local pics and news on the flooding.
