Vacation

So.. say Thanksgiving is coming up and you'd like to go on a little airplane ride, from a place where cold wintery weather has settled in for a long winter's nap, to someplace sunny and warm for a fun family campout. Five days worth of siblings, grandkids, nephews, nieces, etc. singing and playing, laughing and loving. Ahhh... so love my side of the fam!

Five days - no WiFi, no computers, no electronics. Just the good ol' guitar and family singing time.

What happens to my farms?!? Yes, I am worried about my animals, my crops, and most of all, my neighbors! Will they all still exist when I get back? No BB's to buy vacation time.

How long before things and peeps start dropping off the map?

 

I am sure others will arrive with great advice for you, but thought I'd toss this into the ring. what I usually do is plant animal stalls and trees. They don't turn to weeds like crops do, if gone unharvested. you may also want to message your neighbors so they do not worry when your thermometor begins to go down.

My farm is always like 50% to 80% trees.
So what @heidels said is a good idea.

Never thought about that with animal pens

You can also message your neighbors and let them know you'll drop a little in the green bar stats.

Hahaha, I can petty much do nothing but buy stuff.
But I need to get my CC back up, I was at 123 million and
wanted to buy some stuff to level my island up and complete the event quest.

Took a sharp drop to 118 but now at 119.4.
If I sell my fruit and not complete in the top 1000, I can reach 120 again.

Comfort fields will be of no use for you if you plan to be away 5 days, BlazingBlades. The longest crops -which you don't have available at your level- take 18+hs (base growth time, not watered) --> 18*4=72 --> 3 days.

So, go with heidels' suggestion: carpet everything with trees and pens....

Blazie, If you can afford it with R/L... You can become a Premium Member and have your trees on Auto-Harvest.

By your next vacation, maybe you will have enough stars to open the vacation rune on the Tree of Wisdom. (I haven't done it yet but I'm aiming for it.)

 

Well, Cavy - with all of the outstanding mentoring you have done, don't see how I could not succeed in that!

 

I never understood what the vacation mode is really good for? I can't seem to find the proper info now, but I remember two things:

1. You don't lose your neighbors: First of all, I usually go on vacation (without internet access) long enough for that to be a problem (takes a couple of weeks, I think). And if I was, I would send a message to my neighbors asking them to keep my slot waiting for me. If they don't want to do that, I would find new neighbors.
2. Keep the daily log in bonus: The daily log in bonus is not such a big deal.

I wouldn't even spend stars on this, let alone the 69BB it costs in the shop.

Am I missing something major?

 

Well... now that you put it into perspective, not really. I was under the impression that your neighbors dropped off automatically. And other things...

Where did that come from, you may ask? Who knows?!? Maybe it was a jumbled up thought caused by information overload from the FAQ...

They do, but it takes quite long. My guess is at least a couple of weeks. I sometimes pick up a few new players as neighbors from the neighbor request thread. A lot of them quit the game quite soon (this game is really not every ones cup of tea). I am always surprised at how long it takes from I notice the thermometer dropping, until they are gone. I don't want to delete them, in case they are just away for some time.

BTW, my question was an honest one, I am really wondering if there is something I am missing.

 

Blazy before you go on vacation you can start producing Power feeds because they need a lot of hours

 

My response probably comes too late and maybe was already stated (sorry, have browsed the thread, but not fully read it through).
anyway,

Put all your stalls into storage. Delete them and nothing will happen -- no using feed, nothing. You will have to replace them, of course. At five days, yoiu can try planting your longest crop on comfort fields, but most likely you will come back to weeds. That just means running the weeder (a tad bit of a pain, but not terrible) before you can plant again.

Oh, and for the future... work on completing the magic tree branch that gives you vacation times, 2 a year.

oh, and you might let your neighbors know you are leaving for a stretch. I suspect many will do the same for at least some of the time coming up.
