Hi woody :) How many event drops have you gotten in total? If you give us a number, it will be easier for us to see how you are doing ;)

Many of the other events have required a lot more crops, so naturally, during the time you need to grow them all, you will have gotten more drops ;)

Trophies really help, but if you are not moving them, you only get one third of their effect :( Which level do you have them at anyway?

Spring wreath and carrot apple chutney (CAC) have no effect on drops :(

I have had a look through this thread, and most of the players who have posted about their drops are higher level players, with trophies at a combined level of above 23% with the living legend rune (so that they affect all fields). And I am guessing most of them planted longer crops overnight. Many probably got way over 100 of each drop from the initial harvest. As a new player it takes a while (and some effort) to get the drop rate up. But as I said in the beginning, it would help if you could tell us how many drops you have gotten :)

As to the Howie Donut: If you buy 300BB or more, you get an item. Most probably it is not something good, but there is a 3% chance to get a Howie Donut. They are usually very popular at G&T.

I'm not participating in this event, however for a comparison of figures, I've got 450 santa hats and 522 holiday presents so need a further 250 santa hats and 278 holiday presents. This is with a combined 24% extra chance from trophies (though not moving them around) harvesting 4x4 plots of lily of the valley (no water/buffs) and oyster mushrooms overnight (also no water/buffs).

Hi Woody .....The Howie Donut is one of the Four Turtles....They are called Farmstreet Boys....https://board-en.farmerama.com/index.php?threads/faq-farmstreet-boys-turtle-rewards.1925/ click this Link this FAQ tells you all about them ok

You can Get Howie Donuts from Barter and Gift Quest....As you can used more than 1 of them in each field but they are hard to get hold of....They work the Same way as you would with Animal and Crop Trophy..

Alternatively if you used Comfort Fields of Malt Grain Compare it to Growing of Carnations for example Malt Grain Takes 4h 44 mins to grow (X4)= 18h 56mins...carnations Takes 18h 53mins...

But Malt Grain have 3 Refinements which gives you Combined Water Effectiveness of 51.75%...Each Comfort Field requires 3 Malt Grain but you gain 15 Malt Grain for each Comfort Field...without using CAC or PJ if you used these you will get even got Malt Grain.

Th Hoarding Tactic of using Comfort Field as Above you can sell these Malt Grain for just over 60 cc Each which is far better than selling carnations from 75 cc to 90 cc....This is better way to Maximizing Drops and Making cc compared to carnations.

This is why i am avoiding Growing Carnations,Rye, Spelt,Rye etc plus refinements of these are not effective on water compared to Malt Grain...

Thank you all for your advice. I think I will complete all the levels.
I just need 65 presents and have 32 hours in which to get those drops. I think unless I am unable to harvest the fields for some reason, I should be able to manage.

It feels good to have been able to do so well on an event for the first time. I could not have done it without the discussions on this thread.

    Thanks all.

Hi everyone, I am sitting this one out. I didn't want to originally, but circumstances warranted it. I planted carnations in anticipation of the first day to get a good drop start, especially with 2 drops. I ended up getting sick, :wuerg: first day my throat was on fire, next day feverish. I didn't even feel like playing, I just logged in to get my advent stocking everyday. I only missed one day, the payment was 2 BBs. I finally felt good enough to play today. :) If I didn't have premium I would have had weeds. xD  :p xD

I got well over 100 drops on both my farms for the first harvest, between 150 and 200. I did want a cheese factory, but didn't feel I had enough time to grow the crops, and I'm still not 100%. Poo is definitely a CC maker. ;)

Finished event this morning before I went to do Demo at walmart... It seemed fairly relaxed compared to some of the other events we have had this year.

Well, I've got another gold task done :) I only need 70 more hats now to complete the gold tasks I want to complete and after that I think I call it a day for this event. It was fun.

As one of the lower leveled players I could and did use several of the tips given here in this thread, for which I thank you all!

This is the strategy I used (with a lot of thanks to SuzeeRabbit for her event strategy post):
    0. Make a full Green Meadow field of 1 x 1 plots & a full field, besides 5 plots of 4 x 4 on the main field.
    1. Use the 5 seeds you get for free on the 4 x 4 plots to get a maximum amount of new seeds after the harvest. Use Super Growth, Water, Manure and Suzy's Super Growth on those 5 seeds.
    2. Plant other crops on the other 1 x 1 fields. In the beginning I planted whatever fitted my schedule.
    3. At first harvest, make sure my trophies were on the field I was going to harvest -> Harvest -> remove the trophies and plant them on the other field -> LOG OUT -> Log back in -> harvest the field I hadn't harvested yet.
    4. Make some more 4 x 4 plots so that I can maximize the harvest of the event crops again. Plant crops on the remaining 1 x 1 fields whichever fit my schedule. Again use water, manure, Super Growth and Suzy's Super Growth ONLY on the event crops.
    5. Harvest everything again, wash, rinse and repeat until I had enough event crops to fill an entire field of event crops.
    6. Plant crops fitting my schedule on the other field.
    7. Wash, rinse and repeat until I had enough event crops to fill two fields. I only used water from that point on.
    8. Overnight I only used the event crops, because those were the longtimed crops.

At this moment I've completed the silver tasks from level 1 upto and including level 5. And I've completed the gold tasks from Level 5 and level 3. I've got more than enough crops to complete the remaining gold tasks and even some diamond tasks. The main problem now is the santa hats.
Since I'll be hardly home today, I've planted the event crops again (I'll harvest them tonight). I guess that's the last time I can harvest, right? Cause this is the last day of the event? Or is that tomorrow? If it's tomorrow I might use low-timed crops tomorrow :)

Thank you for sharing your numbers :) When you posted approximately 4.5 days had passed of the event, so at finish time you can expect something like
    450/4.5=600 santa hats
    522/4.5=696 holiday presents
so about 100 short on both drops.

You mentioned no water, and not moving the trophies. I would like to show how this affects the drops. I know you are not doing the event, and I am not suggesting that you do something different. I just want to demonstrate the difference using your numbers, hope that's ok :)

    1. Trophies: Your trophies are at 24%, but if you are not moving them, they affect only 1 of 3 mainland fields, so you really just have an overall of 8% increased drops (less if we also consider baha). If you instead had the 24% affecting all fields (LL rune, or moving them around), you could expect to get: 600/1.08*1.24= 689 santa hats instead of 600.

    2. If you used longer crops and watered them (so that they take the same time as the ones you mentioned using above) you could expect 25% more drops (will explain this number below). So instead of the 689 santa hats, you could expect 689*1.25=861 santa hats!
So making the most of the trophies and using watered crops, can make you go from 600 santa hats (short of 100) to 860 santa hats (160 left over). That is a bigger difference than I expected! Again squiggle, I am not in anyway criticizing what you do, or suggesting you do something different. Just playing with numbers :)

Now of course the drops are a bit random, so the calculations are just approximately correct. Also, for squiggles numbers, I assumed that all the drops came from crops grown during the event. But if some came from an initial harvest, gifts, trees and so on, the increase will be slightly less, but still quite significant.

How does water increase drops with 25%?

Imagine you grow a 10 hour crop with no water, when you harvest you get 100 drops (just to make the calculations nice).

If you had watered the crop, it would have been finished in 8 hours, and you would have gotten the 100 drops in 8 hours (droprate depends on the basic grow time). That is 12.5 drops per hour grow time, so in 10 hours of planting watered crops, you could expect to get 125 drops, which is 25% more than when we grew crops without water.

The 25% more will be the same no matter how long the crop is and how many drops you get from it.

My only goal with this was to show how much these two factors (trophies&water) actually can influence the drops (I was surprised myself), and I hope it is useful for someone.

At first, (though after harvesting moonlight crops), I got about 40, then yesterday morning, I got just 29 for all fields. What puzzled me is getting none on 2 fields, including the magic glade where I did have a trophy, though only an 11% trophy. I am now taking advice and moving the trophy. Also, since I already have enough jute, I am planting other, longer crops.

I am still not sure I will get the cloud row, but I already have the pyramid, bakers delight and the cheese factory. I am holding off on getting the cloud row until after I have the nutcracker. At least I am going to get some more power feed.

Thank you ALL who have posted suggestions!

As a newbie myself this is my second "successful" event , and moving the trophies around makes a huge difference. At first I was too cool to move them around -.- but I learned my lesson:oops:

I'm waiting on 2 presents to complete the cloud row with all it's item. And I should be abel to finish the not-needed levels before the day ends :D

    Sheriziya,

You don't need to log out and then log back in to get sure the trophies are accounted by the system as being in any field.

Once you placed the trophies in the field you want to harvest, to be sure of that, you just need to either wait 10 seconds or so before harvesting or refresh, by hitting the F5 key, or go to another field and then come back to the one where the trophies are placed and you're about to harvest -an action having the exact same effect as refreshing-.

If you have the stars to open up the LL on the tree in the glade, then you can already place your trophies in it. When ever you upgrade the trophie , you place it in the tree. That keeps you from remembering to place it on every field.

Hi! I can't seem to find the sos for this event...lol. Having computer problems and am so close to finishing, but I still need 70 Santa Hats. Have everything else but this computer is being mean, and I'm running out of time.

Can I request help with the hats, hopefully if some can be gifted to me, I can keep the computer running long enough to finish this...lol...or the computer, whichever comes first!

Throwing it out the window probably won't help. >:(

Maybe you could try dangling it out the window, until it decides to be nice again :p
