My interpretation is the opposite of yours. Only the ones listed will count. Most don't.

sunshineaz, I have a similar problem. Always miss about 8h of an event. The most important time being the beginning, for me. I wish the would shift the start time so that the only ones adversely affected at the ones in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But it seems there aren't enough USA PST people for them to care. Frustrating. One of the reasons I worked so hard to get the farm to a level where I could finish about 2/3 thru. This one is probably going to be... 20h+20h (for trees) and 12h+24h (for pens)= 78h for the timed events. 144 - 40h(trees) - 36h(pens) -8h (for living on the wrong part of the planet)= 60h for growing crops. I expect the drop rate to be reduced during the pens. If I grow 5h crops at night instead of 12-18h crops I'll miss out on a lot of drops there. So this time drops might be a problem for me.

    This event stinks for me.
The postponement really messes up my RL schedule. I need to go to grocer tomorrow. Paratransit doesn't do last minute scheduling well. It makes them grumpy.

I can't be bothered with this event now - All my time and energy has been wasted - I'll just go drinking and dancing instead :p

I feel the best solution to the start time is for us to have a flexible start time within a window of from 24-72h. We start the event timer when we're ready... in the morning, after work, etc. I posted a Suggestion about this. Perhaps it's still there and people can add their thoughts to it.

An LOT of tree EP! i am trying to count my totals right now... might be beyond my reach, even with a few jumbo and rare trees to my count.

EDIT.. just saw the bit about being able to partially complete step 2. That should help a lot!

Also, apparently, some workshops count, but not all. The FAQs say, though, its best not to count them because its iffy as to which ones do and do not count. (if anyone has a better explanation on what is and is not allowed, please elucidate!)

I figure I will have enough EP's from my trees in the glade and on the Island, add an extra day and that's just bonus :p
I'm clearing the rest out as they finish, trying to get some use from Happy harvest day.
My start time will now be 5am :wuerg: I hope I'm not up at that time.

Having read this whole discussion I agree with Suzeerabbit and I am not going to take part. I harvested my trees this morning and I am nowhere near the EP required for the first stage so will need to use a lot of supergrow on them. Some players have lost of lot of enhancements due to the messy late start which seems unfair and is worrying which is putting me off. I usually like timed events but this one is not for me. Have fun those who are taking part. I'm going to have a stress free weekend *lol*

the way I read it is - you can start your 24h timer anytime you want - it's not the first 24 hrs of the event...you could even grow your event crops first before you start turning things in....there are a lot of drop items needed before you can progress anyhow....but the timer starts when you start it....

    Regarding workshops for step 3:
My feeling/suspicion is every workshop that doesn't have an upgrade yet (hence the beaver saw mill) will work. Although the mechanics and outcome of the spooky pens are similar to any correspondent workshop pen, they seem to have a separate status inside the developing program. It's as if it were a "classical" I workshop pen. Hence, not an upgrade in theory (but it is in pratical terms).
Nevertheless, many orange pens have much more EP per hour than any spooky pen. Even regular animal pens have it.
Not to mention the fact that reducing spooky pens time is possible only with workshop buffs (although I'm wondering now if that's really true). With two gold slots available, it's definitely best to fill them with reducing time buffs of animal pens and not waste it with product pens.

However, the fact that the two non-coloured baha workshop pens like Parrot-feather and Peanut-Butter are an almost certainty that it works for the EP total, can actually be of great help. They are fast (16h and 24h respectively) and give a lot of EP base (327 and 453 respectively). That's higher than the 210 value base of panda pen that Mir provided.
Myself, I'll discard any workshop/spooky pen from the main farm but put every workshop pen I have from these two types.

I'd seriously disregard any bikini, carpet and chopstick factory. Until further notice, I don't think they will count towards the EP needed!

Anyway, good luck with the event!!!

Trees yield drops, too, so you don't have to choose.

I plan to plant all my trees (no where near enough to fill my fields, yet) so I can at least complete part of step 1. Since I don't have anywhere near enough trees to fill my fields, I will do my highest yield pens, prepping for step 3. As soon as I can, I will start growing event crops., the 4 X 4 first and then gradually transitioning to 1X1 with either CAC or pumpkin jam (if CAC is too high for me to buy).

    Anyway, good luck all!

EDIT: oops forgot about Mushrooms. Will plant them along with pens. Maybe I can finish that right away.

    DBAYES Count Count

I put a bunch of Suzi's spray all over my trees in prep for the timed event...Oh well, Hmpf! On the brighter side, just counted 16 XXL Jumbo trees and with all the flying pets activated plus some Suzi's Spray, they come out to 5700 EP each giving me 91,200 EP , so I think I'm good with just the Jumbo trees:D

That's not what I meant at all. I'm talking about the event timer for every event. We choose when to start the event within a window of time. You're talking about the Challenges within an event.

EDIT: So I was thinking about the trees. 60k total. 60k /2 harvests = 30k. I have lots of 100k trees. 30k / 100EP= 300. 300 /130% (from EM & SW)= 231 trees of value of 100EP or more using the two buffs is enough. I do have that many plus lot of extra smaller trees. Add a few pets. I'll have the max benefit from the trees. I do want those rewards.
I was also thinking about the start of the event... Since paratransit won't change my scheduled rides... I'll do the trees tonight and start the timer tomorrow aften when I get home. That's not a best case scenario but it will be good enough. It gives me a little more crops growing time.

Of course... all this assumes... the event will start tonight as currently scheduled. :D

Well, the postponement wasn't a total loss..I harvested my trees this morning and moved them all to the magical glade--Thanks Mir for the tip on the 5% EP increase!

My mind is just swirling trying this figure this one outo_O Does step 2 have to be completed before doing step 3? I'm trying to figure out when would be a good time to set pens out while trying to get crops built up? Maybe there will be a Stable day?

Be safe on your Paratransit Suzee! Never heard of it so had to look it up - What a brilliant idea! Why don't we have it over here?!

I left all my trees out to be harvested when I got home from work this evening but The Event was postponed. Very itchy fingers wanting to harvest now but NO, NO, NO...

Most of my fields/(trees) will be idle for about 9 -12 hs but I can't be bother calculating another strategy, too time consuming. So I just wait for the Event to start and then press "Harvest". :)

Best of luck to yous all!
