@DarlingDaizy1 I totally forgot to say I did a spit take while trying to drink my water and read the antics of Olllie!! so cute :p

@julie1013 I'm so glad this thread was helpful for you too..I really needed it too :)
Btw I totally understand your sadness about your losses..I have had only three cats in my life total(until my newest addition 4 months ago)and each has been such a massive part of me.. my first was with me since I was 1 yrs old(I have a few stories of her coming up later) ..she eventually got kitty Alzheimers and then passed at 19 yrs old..which was rough cause my dad had passed just a few weeks before her.. then my second cat was Vinny(the one haunted by the balloon dolphin) he passed from a very terrible form of kitty cancer.. Then my last kitty was Loki..he was so tiny when I got him(only 4 weeks old and needed milk from a bottle) he grew and became this amazing tom cat who would act fierce until I held him close and then he would melt into a gooey puddle in my arms :) He just never came home though..not sure as I looked for years for him after..I then swore I would never ever have another kitty ..Then I got my new baby Tippy and Im so glad I did..she is healing a part of my soul I had no idea was that broken :) Its crazy how fiercely we can love our pets!!

@puppiesnponies ..you sound like me with all of the crazy animals trudging through your home haha..I have had over the many years..a duck, goose, lamb, goat, pot belly pigs, every rodent,turtles,12 foot snake(yes seriously I know crazy lol),rabbits and of course the other usual suspects :p

My animals have not always liked me as much as I liked them though..my dad was the one with the pet pigs and goat and all of them decided at one point or another to attack me..hahaha!!

Ok one quick story before I get back to attempting a nap before work calls ..

So this one reminded me of another story one of you told about the parent laughing thankfully during a tense moment so wanted to share my favorite mom moment :)

Me and my brother were 5 & 8yrs old.. I was in the kitchen and I was told to stop doing something..who knows what all I know was mom meant business!!

She got her "mom eyes" and the tone that makes your skin crawl ..she tells me " I said stop now".. I for some dumb reason got my most intelligent mouth ready to go and said with a stomp of my foot .."NO".. !!

As I'm sure anyone here who has a mother who does the mom voice and scary scowl will know I was in deep trouble now ..

So she stands in front of me and my brother hands on her hips and yells in a loud voice "DO..YOU..EVER..SAY..NO..TO..YOUR..MOTHER ??"..

I sat there and thought it over......

I started to cry cause I couldn't think of any other answer than the dreaded no that she just said not to say ..

Then she burst into hysterical laughter thankfully and we were all able to laugh it off.. :p

Think about it though..what would you have done at 5?? Said No and risked saying no again ..or said yes and agree that its ok to say no bwhahaha!!

8)Oh, julie! I am so sorry to hear about your cat and dog members of your family. All I can do is share my experience with you and hope you will find some comfort in it.
Yes, like you, I heard her meows and missed her softness - actually still do....and, though this might sound funny, I hope I always do. At first it was too painful to be without her, but as time passed I began to think about it and realized that I wanted to cherish her memory, and remembering her was the best way for me to do it. So I began to make myself feel the joy of her instead of the pain of losing her, when I, too, heard her meows, or felt her paws, thick with silky long tufts of fur, tapping my arm for attention. I would latch onto the love and goodness of all those memories, and force out the pain by replacing the loss with them. And slowly it began to work; slowly the huge hole she left started filling up with her again - in a good way. Now...when I still hear her small sweet voice...it is with thankfulness and gratitude that I had her at all, and I feel happy for the memories. Nothing can take her place, of course, and I don't want it to. She has her own place and always will, and it is one of joy and not sorrow.... but now there can be room for others to share the love that she taught me so deeply.

Julie, it does take time to heal a heart - no doubt about it. I hope you will find some encouragement in the above - to cherish their memories with joy that covers over the ache, and eventually find room to make new ones - with new dogs or kitties to make new joyful memories to join in company with the ones already there. Love can cover over sorrow, and love can always make room for more - in time.
When I wrote the first story about my cat it was meant to be a loving memory, not a sad one, even though it did have a sad part. I apologize to anyone that it made feel bad. It was really about l-o-v-e.:inlove::inlove:

ImTypo - Your expression is so beautiful: "Then I got my new baby Tippy and I'm so glad I did....she is healing a part of my soul I had no idea that was broken."
That is it exactly - that is what they do!!:inlove:

I love all these stories. This thread has taken on a life of its own.

At Christmas I was reading through the Pre-School reports for my youngest Granddaughter. She was about 4 when a little boy went into the play corner and came running out crying as there was a spider in the playhouse. No one would go near it until someone remembered that Anna (my Granddaughter) could help. She went into the playhouse and collected the spider. The teacher then asked her to take it outside and put it somewhere safe. 'No,' she said, 'MY spider'. It took about ten minutes of gentle persuasion to get her to put it somewhere safe outside or I think she would still be carrying it around now! All the other children were in awe of her. So if anyone is scared of Spiders, you just need an Anna to help you out!

    Hello everyone :)
@farmerumf when you say flying daddy long legs do you mean mosquito eaters??..I love them guys lol..so goofy looking

Ok so I decided to take a break from work stuff and tell a story..hope it makes everyone laugh or smile!!

So I was at this house party when I was in my late teen years(about 19 I think) and I was talking to my female friends telling them how much effort I had put into dressing up and doing my make up and stuff for that night because I wanted to impress this guy..
I had a massive crush on him for sooo long and all I wanted was to get his eye and maybe sometime get a date :)

They are congratulating me on my outfit saying I looked cute and I was practically preening I was so happy I managed to look good.. I was about to burst when I saw him walk in.. he looked so handsome!!

He walked to his guy friends and starts talking and I wait and wait hoping for a moment he was alone to walk over..

He was very popular so he never was alone for more than a second so I decide that I would just brave it and go over while he was talking to two of his friends and one girl I didn't know who she was(found out later she had a crush on him too) and on my way over one of my friends starts whispering to me loudly and I have no clue what she is saying but I look back at her like "shhh I'm busy!!"..

Then I hear the other two of my friends helping her call my name and motion for me to come back.. I look at them like they are crazy because I really needed to go say hi and he was going to leave soon so it was my last chance!!

I get right in front of him about two feet away and I start to do this awkward hair flip thinking I am so adorable and irresistible..

Just as I take one more step forward placing me only a foot away from his gorgeous face .. *Thump*.. I feel my feet go out from under me and I'm now falling not so gracefully into his arms.. not the cute I'm-a-princess-catch-me and-I -will-bat-my-adorable-lashes-at-you.... Nope Im talking face plant into his armpit and skirt flying up over my head type fall..

I realize as he helps collect me back onto my feet and he is looking down at them like I should be very embarrassed that my friends had been yelling at me that I had party streamers attached to my heels and thats what tripped me..lol

Needless to say I did not impress him enough for a date BUT he ended up being an amazing friend I still talk to this day :p

ImTypo - Flying Daddy Long Legs are commonly known as Crane Fly - not sure what the Mosquito eating thingy is? Perhaps someone clever could help us out?
Loved your story. We do silly things when we are young.

When my youngest was little and we were potty training her, we talked a lot about training I guess because as I left her at day care one day I told her I loved her and to be good. She said she would and she said she won't get her Choo's Choo's dirty. Had to stop and think about that, she was talking about the sound a train makes... Choo Choo. Laughed so hard and love that story.

Oh...ImTypo.....the angst of being a teenager! :wuerg: :cry:Hilarious story!!!xD It's wonderful, the 2 of you ended up being long term friends! My kids used to ask me if I would like to go back in time and re-live my high school days....Not On My Life...would I ever want to do that!!!! The only way I would agree to that, would be if I could take my adult memory with me!:pxD....like the movie "Peggy Sue got Married". Then I would, for sure, study more...and truly appreciate my girlfriends and...ahem....my parents!!!:D
