I am not sure you get my meaning; sorry. I mean, when I feed the stables and workshops they want (earlier today) 3x feed. Yesterday was normal all day, the day before a couple of them wanted 2x feed. I am not talking about establishing a stable, but feeding the ones I have. You know, when they are ready to harvest and you click to harvest, then click again to clean them out, then again to feed them - the yellow banner above has been saying "2x feed" etc. Am I confusing you??? o_O

I understand what you are referring to :) And like I said, no stable or workshop should take more than one feed, but the workshops will require one or more animals in addition to feed. Next time you are going to feed a workshop, take a look in your barn to see how many feed and how many animals of that type you have, then feed the workshop and check again :)

Hi Cali, I just came to post a screenshot ;)

I placed an egg farm on my field, and this is the yellow banner. What it means is that you will need to feed the egg farm 1 chicken feed + 3 chickens. I know the text can be confusing, but that is what it means. Different workshops require different amounts of animals, from 1 to 8, but usually 1 or 2 :)

oh! I will look again when their time comes, but I see what you mean,... So, who or what is eating my chickens??? Or is it like the breeding thing - which confuses the hell out of me: 4 go in, 1 comes out. Are they breeding, or is it a frankenstien laboratory in there>>!!!o_O

Yeah, I couldn't figure out why it took FOUR animals when I started breeding, either. TWO should be plenty, dontcha think?

When I was new, I asked a neighbor the same question. She said it was two to breed, and two to set up the video camera. LOL! This might now get edited by a mod, but still...it was hilarious! xD

sewinglady I remember I have seen an answer somewhere from a mod. If it wasn't 4 animals then it would have been 4 PF there must be a balance... It may have been said differently.

I finally have enough tools to build a goat dairy but is it a good idea? I want the dairy as I want to be able to open up another avenue for star earning with that FSQ. I just want to make sure it's the best use of my tools. Let me just say this if anyones advice is going to be that I will be able to win it on the farm wheel I'll just add that I'm exceedingly unlucky at that. I'm the turbo mulch queen it seems when it comes to those spins.

Clashstrummer, in a word: eggs. Have you finished the two egg quests? They were the first two quests I finished all the way through - First off, eggs are cheap at the market...second, it doesn't take a lot to build an egg producing coop. The goat dairy takes forever to make one goat cheese. I find the cow dairy more beneficial as I can make cat food - both to sell and use for my cat "coop". Some of the higher end workshops take around 36 hours to produce 1 item - slow going, if you ask me.

Clashstrummer- I'd hold off on building the goat dairy. Sewinglady is right about the egg quest...if you haven't done that one, I'd do that before building a goat dairy! Also, Gift & Trade is rumored to be in June. I'm sure there are lots of long-time players who would be willing to give you some goat milk trees during G&T. The trees are vastly better than the dairies, for several reasons. First, they don't require tools, since they're not buildings. Second, they give you 2 goat milks every 20 hours. Third, you don't have to sacrifice goats or goat feed. Fourth, they only take up a 1x1 plot of land, as opposed to the 2x2 plot that the dairy would take up. So if you're able to hold on for another two months until G&T, I'd do it!

in my market goat milk sells between 450-550 usually. to make 1 goat milk you need 1 feed plus 2 goats, 1 goat will cost 350- 500. today's price over 900/goat because of upcoming event. it will cost on average on a normal day around 1000cc to make 1 goat milk plus the 24hrs wait. time can be shorten with water and other things but you get my point.
to make 1 goat milk you have basically lost 500cc, not to mention the 2x2 plot which could be producing something valuable. i basically have seen this to be true with every workshop i have been able to build. therefore i have never built a workshop.
but that is just the way i do things. a lot of farmers like to be independent and grow everything themselves. depends on how you want to approach the game.

Clash- I don't know what level you are but not only are eggs a good price in the market, but so is cow milk, honey, and goat milk in proportion to their animals and associated feed, as well as the time savings you gain as steph explains. I don't have any extra goat milk trees but if you find yourself still wanting a goat dairy come Gift/trade, please IGM me.

Edit: was typing at the same time as free2win.

It produces goat milk, not goat cheese.

Yes, there should be some goat milk trees available during the next G&T if you can wait that long.

I've done the egg quests, yes. Which is why I'm now searching about for something else with a good pay off star wise. Seems I need to start watching prices on some of the other products.

So what is it a good idea to use tools for?

Simple; use the tools to break into Farmarama town hall and steal all the BBs 8)

Clashstrummer, hang onto your tools until you need to build a pen upgrade, a workshop or a first level craft building (after you reach level 40). I'm hanging onto many of mine in order to build whatever workshops are in demand at the next G&T to trade for things I want.

Chris, very funny! xD Shall I bake you a cake with a file in it?

honey is good, goat milk mentioned already. truffles, even though they are pricier you dont need as many. i am currently working on angora wool and sheeps wool now.

there are plenty of farmer society quests(fsq) which i have done up to step 4 or 5 for plenty of stars. especially the breeding quests. 7 weeks in now i have collected 1132 stars and only completed 12 full quests. market is your best friend here. learn the prices and be very patient. items will go up and down 20% everyday, every once in awhile they can go up or down 200%. keep an eye on the event thread and the grapevine thread to see what is needed in coming events. those items will make you cc.

talking of tools (somebody was, honest!), I won an xxxl toolbox. and - unlike the other tool boxes which seem to have just added to my inventory - this has appeared in my "decorations" packing crate, with the button "use" on it. Not sure if I should click it and possibly lose the tools, or wait until I am building something. :( Anybody know the wherewithal with this?/
