In looking at the numbers for this event while I have all of the crops in my barn already I have a tiny amount of the cows and horses needed. Taking into account I'm a poor new farmer here and won't be buying up lots stock and the fact that I have about 211PF does it not make more sense for me to take advantage of the possible BBD and breed other animals that I have a larger number of back stock of? The use of the PF being the biggest question mark for me on this.

You get 95 PF from the event if you do the whole thing.
Start today raising cows and/or horses. Sell the extra. And/or... sell the crops needed for event to buy what you need. Don't bother buying pheromones, probably to pricey. If no one gifts you PJelly, buy one. Buy a PPP if it is cheaper than a second PJelly to extend the time, if needed.

Silly, Illy! LOL Me too. Plus I've never been into animal husbandry.

I wish the mods had merged these two threads early on. The redundancy is confusing for me.

How many cows and horses do you have? And how many cow sheds and horse stables?

I am sure you can get much further than you imagine... we have six days, and breeding doesn't take that long :)

You will minimum need to use 136 PF to get the calves and foals to complete the event, maybe you will need some more, but as Suzee said, you get 95 back if you complete :)

I have 43 cows and 13 horses and 3 stables for each. So you think if I bought more stables I could actually raise enough stock? I guess it is only Tuesday and if i waited until Friday for the breeding that might work.

If you think pheremones are pricey you should see the price for PJ or PPP in my market. xD

Agree with the rest, but want to add a couple of points. Keep in mind that the regular quests will always be there, can be completed at any time, but the event won't be. I have never regretted completing an event, even though they sometimes seemed a bit much at first.

In addition to breeding, buy pens now. Buy pens, sell an animal or two to buy more. The pens often wind up being cheaper than the animals during the event, and you always have them. It may seem a waste to have 30 cow pens, but that will allow you to finish the Noah's ark (regular farmer) quest and also to stock up quickly when needed. (and think about working up to orange pens before doing the breeding quests as well.. they, too, pay)

Also, because you need to get the baby animals, wait until the event starts to breed. Use this time to grow animals and crops..and don't forget the feeds you need for your cows and horses.

I am Same as SuzeeRabbit as I rarely get into Animal Husbandry. As I am Mainly a crop Farmer. Since This Event not really Boost The Price of Crops Much. But is Worth Growing Cows and Horses During this Event as we Need at Least 160 Horses to Get 40 Fouls and 80 Power Feeds to Collect 40 Fouls. There wont be a problem getting 12 Halflingers. As we will be getting some skips of 12 Shetland Ponies

As per FAQ update we will be needing 28 Calves which requires 112 Cows and 56 Power Feeds. We need to consume 136 Power Feeds but we get back 95 Power Feeds from Completing this Quest.

I Strongly need to point out there is no way to make saving on Power Feeds to Obtain 40 Fouls and 28 Calves you would still need to use 136 Power Feeds Sorry about This !!

If you really want to save on Power Feeds then Just Do Level 1 and Level 2 Silver Then Do Level 3/4 and 5 Silver, Gold and Diamond as it Requires 76 Power Feeds, 23 Calves(96 Cows), 13 Foals(52 Horses) Can Gain 95 Power Feeds but only used 76 Power Feeds

Yes it Great Advice to Mill the Event Products as Soon the Events Starts. Waiting for BBD Event Thinking you save on Power Feeds Makes no different except the Method Shown in the above Paragraph. As BBD only helps you get better Skips and also get back some normal Base Animals or Lucky get a Bonus Breeding Animal.

But The Danger of BBD you could get skips that is not an Shetland Pony or White Cow. As The Moment or During this Event they will be priced much higher than Alpine Cow or Mustang. If you want to reduce the risk of this then I suggest to do the Breeding outside of BBD Mini Event. But if you are Happy to get any Higher Breeding Animal and appreciate a refund of some Base Animals then wait until BBD Mini Event Starts.

Becareful Breeding what you really Need for this Event as the Price of Cows,Horses,Halflingers,Shetland Ponies,Brown Cows and White Cows will start to fall after this event had ended ;)

As the Moment I am Selling any of these Breeding Animals i have in stock before the Prices of these starts to fall back to normal prices. As Someone Rightly said we can always Grow Back what we sold that is surplus to this Event what was sitting in our Barn Before This Event Starts. Good Luck ;)

I feel the same Arielh. As soon FAQ was posted, I searched for the rewards. I was somewhat disappointed. After going through this thread, since 95 power feed would be returned and only 41 is lost, I think I will do the entire quest. But if you want to save power feed, do as Mooboy say. Just do the necessary levels. Guess what I got a mango-orange smoothie in the spin. Event too offers the same.?????

Thanks Mooboy, your analysis and suggestion is wonderful. :) That's why we need brainy and wise people among us. They make our life easy. They do all the thinking for us.;)

Well that is an excellent point along with your other advice on buying an abundance of stables. Ok, I'm in. (big gulp)

I just spent some of my CCs and completed the level of the riding lesson quest to get all the horses. I was down to a dozen in the barn, so now I have 22, plus it gave me enough stars to open up the first beginner breeding rune. I did cows as I only had 11 of them. So now 31. If I can get some more cows and horses grown prior to the event starting, I think I'll be okay. Going to have to sell some more high priced fruit to get back my CCs.

I would have to disagree with that  As far as I understand this is how the breeding works:

    • You put in 4 animals out comes 1, normally one level higher, possibly even higher, but it doesn't happen very often
    • During baby boom day you additionally get a random colored animal or 2 regular animals. Usually the extra colored animal is a low level one, but you can get lucky and get a higher one too.
    • If you have the Baby boom rune there is a 20% chance of getting one more random colored animal or 4 regular animals.
If I understand all of this correctly, then yes, during BBD the chance of getting a "skip" (that is an animal which is more than 1 level above what you are breeding) is higher during BBD. But most likely this is the extra random colored animal that you anyway wouldn't have gotten if you breed without BBD.

Put it another way, from breeding 4 horses I would much rather get a haflinger + a mustang (even though the mustang isn't of any use this event), than just one haflinger, which is the most likely outcome if you breed before BBD.

And during baby boom day, the most likely results of breeding 4 horses is one of the following:
    • haflinger + 2 horses
    • 2 haflingers
    • haflinger + shetland pony
all of which are useful results for the event, but breeding without BBD the most likely results are:
    • haflinger (most likely)
    • shetlands pony (sometimes)
I have disregarded the BB rune

I wouldn't advice anyone to breed before BBD, well unless you are going away during the weekend or something ;) but who would be away from the farm that long o_O

I'm so thankful for all of you much more mathematically and statistically inclined thinkers sharing your information. :inlove:

I can't tell you how long it would take me to do the calculations for this and they would still probably be wrong.

Hey at least I'm cute. :p;):p

@Mooboy and @Mir85 ...... You both are nearly true ........ Actually you may not get Hafliger everytime ,during BBD, if you breed 4 horses ..... But on the other hand Mooboy , chances of this outcome are say 5%
Why because I faced similar situation and had to do extra breeding in last event and in the end I had ,say, extra Calves or any other event animal that time xD

But let me share one more dangerous thing ......ONCE I got SHOCK OF MY LIFE when I breeded 3 ninja bee with one bumble bee (to complete 4 animal requirement ) as I was eager to get Alien Bee ........... I GOT ALL LOWER LEVEL BEES ...... as if somone wanted to teach me a lesson ........ I lost all 3 Ninja Bees. I never believed that I will get all lower level animals,If not a skip or normal result than atleast I will get 3 ninja bees back. I Lost 3 Ninja bees in the process >:(

So dear never take these results for granted as Farmerama promises but not guarranties the outcome of breeding process.

Sorry sudhir :( But it says quite clearly in the FAQ that this is not a good idea:

If you put 4 of the same in the breeding pasture you should get a higher animal :)

What do we have to breed to create Shoghuns? The closest thing seems to be a Zen Panda....

I consider breeding outside of BBDay a waste of PF. I haven't done it since... maybe 3.5 years ago.

I will be AFK one day of probably BBDays. So I will have one day to breed on three farms. I doubt that I will do much breeding beyond what is necessary for this event.

I'm milling PF in mill right now. When it is done tomorrow I will start milling everything needed for this event. I just checked my inventory and low on cows. When crops are done tonight I will blanket at least one field, maybe two with cow pens. I think I have most everything else. I tend to run low on apples.
