Lily is different and I think I know why
half a day date, and she is still dry!
Of course our Lochinvar moment has hit the mark
She's so bright , I think, she will glow in the dark!
Is it pride in her ride, that she's bursting about?
Or is she looking forward to catching a trout?
I'm not going to question why this seems so Right
We are off to the lake to get a good bite.

The canoe and fishing tackle are up by the lake
After the rodeo excitement , a slow trip we will make
Far away from the rodeo, we were alone on the track
Just us and the borrowed burro with the picnic on its back

What's Lily doing, getting down off her horse?
Uh oh; I'm bleeding - horn got me - Of course!
While Lily fretted, my left calf in her hands
I threw my right leg over the pommel - to dismount - Rather Grand!

Just then, Gravity became my Lord and Master
with a shock just short of an orthodontic disaster
My mouth crashed right into Lily's lips
our bodies collided from lips to hips

I caught her, she caught me, a bit of both: Lips lingered,
I felt her eyelashes fluttering on my cheek
That was so powerful, my heart went weak
momentarily parted Her wide eyes , so green, so close, so deep
what are they saying? there's happiness in there
mixed with ...lips back together,oh , man, this is great
rhyming is irrelevant, feelings are not
Both hearts pounding, kisses raining all around my mouth
again a short time parted, our bodies meeting all over

the kiss that stopped time, the world went away
Lily and I would remember that day
Holding each other all new and so fine
a taste of heaven, an uncommon wine...

not too much later we continued on to the lake
lost in our thoughts, many smiles we did make
Shy happy glances at a new world we'd found
Feeling a love grow, together we're bound
By a first kiss,and first love, a bond that is true
At the lake, should I tell her? Say"I love you?"

The Picnic
The lake shines supreme in the afternoon sun
We strip horses and burro; let them go for a run
An idyllic spot for a picnic, under a big oak tree
on a rug, Lily opens the basket for me to see

Bread and cheese stops the hunger gnawing at me
All kinds of fruit, especially her favourite, strawberries!
She' eaten half a strawberry, with the rest, salves her lips
Luscious, red and puckered; my heart is doing flips
"Come here'" she says invitingly - now I know its's not for show
Now That's how to taste strawberry: I will forever know

I'm lying on my back - full - contentedly
look over at those beautiful eyes of my Lily
She is kicking her heels up playfully
I will do anything to keep her this happy

It's canoe time;- wait Lily , wait!
We won't catch fish without fresh bait!
I hope her mom doesn't know, she'd probably swoon
I dug up some worms with the kitchen spoon!

Three worms I had, doing the wiggle
Waved one at Lily; got a raucous giggle
One worm too close, Lily ran for the woods,
me after her as fast as I could
She screamed "Get away", delightfully
We played 'chasey' around a big tree
Finally cornered, she gazed up at me
Huge big eyes, she said innocently
"Y'awwl aren't gonna hurt l'il old me?"
I was being conned, calculatingly
but putty in her hands was all I could be...

Into the canoe, and out onto the lake
Lets see what sort of fisher she will make
Lily's line is in the water, I did the hook
40 seconds later, she gives me a look
"Whats next?" she asks. " We sit and wait
for a big fat fish to come take the bait!"

She wants a strawberry from behind me
I lean over just in time to see
a fish has Lily's hook to hang on to !
She squeals with delight, but rocks the canoe!
I,m leaning over, balanced on one shoe
Uh oh, there is nothing I can do

Splash!! In I went.. right down in the Mud
Lily stayed in, sitting down with a thud
Up to the surface, there's weed on my face
Mud in my ears and all over the place
That Mean girl is Really Laughing at me
I suppose that I must be a disturbing sight to see!
"Come here" says Lily, her arm is outstretched
The weed off my face, she is trying to fetch

Anything I can do, she can do better!
I really hope she gets a whole lot wetter!
Stop!! - oh, too late; she's rocking the boat
What to save?? the strawberries; I hope they might float...
What should I catch? The girl or that big fish?
The fish would make the biggest family dish!!

I caught Lily before her head went under
Good choice - me avoiding another blunder
She's laughing and giggling and getting soooo wet
But in my arms, there's no need to fret
I pull her closer: gaze into those beautiful eyes
Her lips on mine; what a lovely surprise.....

Dear Diary,

Oh what fun David and I had!!
A Rodeo; a picnic that made my heart glad!
And Oh!! You should have seen when he fell off the boat!
Up he came like King Neptune, weeds on his head down to his throat!

I thought I'd die laughing - big mistake - in I went! And yet
David caught me! (Why can't I be near that boy without getting wet!!!)
His arms tightened round me, took my breath away
And he kissed me so gently, then.......Oh! No more will I say!

Though my secrets are safe with you, Diary Dear
Some are too private even for you to hear!!
But there is news, my friend, and I will tell you this
He's invited me to New Zealand for a wedding - an Aunt of his!

It's at Larnach Castle overlooking the sea, with Gardens and views
Just like a Fairy Tale - the best place you ever could choose!!
A bridesmaid I'll be! And I get a new dress - such bliss!
And secretly I'm hoping for another sweet kiss....
But if he finds a way to ruin my dress, getting it wet
There'll be ......to pay, and on that you can bet!!!!!
