I Do Not Bother with Speadsheet Really, Just use Note Pad of Simple Facts and Info.

    Here is some Tips

    • Any New Rare Tree Fruits on Main Farm does not have higher Exchange Value than Maples
    • Any New Rare Tree Fruits on Island does not have Higher Exchange than Avocados
    • Almost All New Rare Fruits are too Expensive to Buy in the Markets to Build up stock of Exchance Values in your Barn
    • It Best to Invest in Fruits that has Highest Exchange Value Majority of them are Not Rare Fruits. Just Normal Fruits
    • I hardly Bother Selling Fruits for CC as I Make more CC selling Crops and Animals

    Hello Mooboy,

    Did you still remember about a Beechnut @ average 25 CC/unit, or an Apricot @ average 28 CC/unit, or an Elderberry @ average 21 CC/unit, a Golden leaf @ average 23 CC/unit, or a Rowan berry @ average 25 CC/unit, or a Pomagranate @ average 26 CC/unit, or a Pistachio @ average 24 CC/unit, or a Star fruit @ average 17 CC/unit, or a Brazil nut @ average 18 CC/unit in the past ? :music::music:

I could not believe that you missed it.o_O

I saw that Broke had a percentage he is working by but where did that come from?
How do you set up your buying rate?

Yes the mkt changes all the time and even during the hours. Take for instance corn in my mkt. It usually goes for 35-45 each and some very big growers have several lots of 1-2.5k at that price. But sometimes (rather often actually) their lots are all bought and the price increase immediately and I can sell lots of 1k at 60 in a couple of hours till they return again with a lower price.xD

Mooboy I never did spreadsheets before only playing (buying and selling) by a hunch and did well. Had the prices of some selected merchandise in my head but now I want to move on and get better and my head is not big enough anymore o_O

As my new goal is to join the harvest adventure next year I better be prepared and make some really good deals that will help me not fail - hopefully:music:

    @meba091

The percentage derived from the price of crops vs tree fruits vs animals vs feeds vs products vs artisan products vs colored animals.
    Each item affect each other.

For understanding what I said, I'ld explain with an example :
A valentine pot needs 2 paint palette, a paint palette comes from the turkey, to make a turkey needs the turkey feeds, a turkey feed comes from the walnut, a walnut also needed for making a Power-feed. We need Power-feeds to breed the colored animals. We donate the colored animals for completing FSQ or an event.

What if an event called for a large number of walnuts, what will happen? Are you ready for it?

Back to topic (tree fruits), I gathered the tree fruits based on the logic numbers (buying rate), not a hunch.

credited by my personal mentor, a German woman.

Yes that's exactly what I'm about to learn all about and hopefully do in the future:)

I see that a lot of things have influence on the price. But I don't follow how you set the buying rate. Could you give an example with numbers? Sorry to ask but I if I'm going to do this I have to understand.

    I'm so sorry, meba.:(

'Sharing market with numbers' topic is not allowed (it's contrary to forum rules).
It causes a lot of unpleasant/uncomfortable feeling for some people to read the results. (I hope you can understand why the reason is)

But what you want to learn is already in this thread. Try to find out your answers from the beginning of this thread ! ;)

Yes I did buy Cheap Fruits at More or Less at these Prices. But now doubt we will be able to get them at these prices again. As the Prices have almost doubled to tripled now in my market.

But Since Then at these prices we had a couple quests asking for lots of Rare Fruits Pushing up the Prices of Cheap Rare Fruits. Also in general most Fruits have gone up more or less double prices to what they used to be. Poinciana did go down to 80 CC each now over 500 cc as they are asked for in IT's Alive Quest.

But some markets can get them cheaper or other markets can be bit pricey. To Complete into Top 500 or Top 1000 is that my prediction that it is going to cost us millions and millions of CC. The Other Reason I not think these Fruit Prices will cool down due to shortage of these Fruits in the Markets forces prices higher.

Many of These got donated into Top 1000 Last year. No of us can get these fruits back into the markets Either. May have to focus on other fruits to snap up

Meba091....There are many Crafts such as Valentine Pots are not worth Crafting plus many other crafts not worth crafting due to costs more to craft them than to buy them in the markets

Plus There are Many Production Pens cost More to Produce in terms of animal requirements and animal feeds. I do not know what many farmers are selling Products Cheaper than they cost to make. This is one of reason i hardly put out any production pens but i have 10 Moustache Saloons out since they take alot less than 24 to 48 Hours to Grow can be grown under 5 Hours plus can be sold for about 8 to 10,000 for each fake moustache too :p

Thank-you I will work with this, I just don't see where you can tell how much profit another is making so I know when it the point to buy.
I am still trying to do that know your price so you don't undersell.

I am selling only chickens rarely turtle and plat. if I had to buy big, sometimes they sell crops 9,999.000 of an item, once in a while I can buy this, but I really have to learn the math so I am not underselling my items or buying at too high. I did the worksheet, and buy crops only when near my price I wrote 2 weeks ago, and if the seller is going 1/2 the cost of smaller bundles I figure it's a good deal. I know this is not the smart way.

    Hello Mooboy,
Thank you for sharing your valuable experience to me.
We can see those precious rare fruits have gone into TOP 1000 last year, right !!!
That's why farmer_broke wants us to avoid similar problems (dilemma). But how ??
Can you help me to respond with this ? :music:

    Hello keltic,
The spreadsheet provides many informations in it. One of the best information is about (B)EP generator item.
Eg : A square 2x2 of lettuce versus a square 2x2 of sunflower.
    Lettuce = 1 EP every 5 minutes = yielded 5 lettuces (1 initial crop + 4 extra crops)
    Sunflower = 6 EP every 1 hour = yielded 5 sunflowers (1 initial crop + 4 extra crops)

Within 1 hour of harvesting monotonous:wuerg:, we may get 12 EP and 49 lettuces. On other side we may get 6 EP and 5 sunflowers.

Compare them in market price.. What do you think?:p

There is some confusion regarding the proper use of the market to exchange ratio. The chart below will indicate the power of such an analysis and leave no doubt.

The market numbers are from market 40. The market information has been posted in post # 362 above in January 2014.
The present market information is taken from market 40 today.

    In columns:
    1. tree fruit
    2. 7/9/2015 market 40 prices
    3. 1/13/2015 market 40 prices
    4. the 12 tree fruit by number to invest in on 1/13/2015
    5. the % price increase
    6. the exchange value
    7. -- those 12 off the mark

ALL routine top 12 were invest in with no thought other than here, none.

Six of the 12 missed by analysis were invested in to a lessor degree, some much much more than others. (The Lychee and the Jacote holdings are in hundreds of thousands left over from the TOP 1000 competition.)

With no doubt there are more ccs from investing in tree fruit than in crops. Anyone can grow, produce and sell and we all do. All crops and animals have periodic calls and if prepared one is able to take advantage of quick profits. A call for tree fruit does little other than make acquisition that much easier.

After two years it is time to adjust my buy rate and I will do it in this thread. The buy rate is ROUTINE and a NO THOUGHT way of making ccs. A little refinement of the methods can yield huge profits in products, breeding animals, feed, and crops. I have not worked with it using artisan products very much. Thus far artisan products are easily identifiable for movement but I lack the sophistication for perfection there.

    No problem with crop identification.

What more of a return do you want with no thought? xDxDxDxDxDxD

i have never set a specific price point to buying anything. i will buy most anything discounted 10% or more than the current going rate and usually flip them quickly. i find it works nicely here with the large fluctuation in prices. i dont have the patience to buy and hold.

I'm broke .... flat broke .... again.

I'm going to get a few of those coins. First place I'm going is to that wheel. Want only coins. :)

If no coins there, I'm going to the park. :) Why am I always broke?:cry: Sad sad sad

    The Friendship Event

Acquiring using a target rate or limit price has been used. Top sales have taken place with:

    blackberry
    wheat
    walnuts
    mirabelle plums
    rabbit
    rabbit feed
    chicken feed
    poop
apples (barns were/are able to meet demand)
sunflower (barn were/are able to meet demand)
cuckoo (a few thousand were sold to those working on animal trophy)
dog (several hundred were sold to those working on animal trophy)
    angora
    carrot (slow)
hay (very slow and many barns remain stocked)

several newbie crops are out of balance and an adjustment is taking place
goat and sheep have been acquired for lengthy periods for nearly the same as a chicken
bee and fish can be bought for less than 2 chicken (common animals out of balance)
beaver prices higher than normal and timber has had more spikes in price than the recent past
    rare animals showing little activity

Hope you made plenty ccs. They are here for the easy taking. I got the big bills and I will back off and let other barns empty and low quantity farmer can have the loose change.

I feel time to move this thread to another level. Together we have explored:

    • My shopping problem
    • Basic listing mechanics
    • Growing and producing to sell
    • Basic supply and demand
    • The various market segments (crop, feed, animal....)
    • Various submarket segments (rare animals, rare tree fruit, florist trade...)
    • Buying to resell
    • The break-even point
    • Return on Investment
    • Introductory inflation effects
    • Importance of game knowledge (the interactive effects of changes)
    • Immediate effect(s) of event calls
    • Latent effect(s) of event calls
    • Temporary price changes
    • Exchange value
    • Suggested market price of artisan products
    • Introductory exchange value analysis and use
    • Importance of a fun attitude while playing
    • Disciplined approach to acquisition
    • Basic breeding animal discussions
    • Items turned permanent (pheromones, cuckoos, ..)
    • Importance of working capital or lack of it
    • Thoughtful risk-taking with short-term or intermediate or long-term investments
    • ....

The purpose of the next part is to bring intermediate topics forward for critic and discussion. If you have knowledge or opinions regarding the above then most probably you are prepared to continue.

This is a game and many real life lessons may be shared, learned and applied. None of us know everything. Please be open to the ideas of others and if an idea does not make sense then challenge it if you dare.

PART II I'm broke, again! How do I make CCs?

I look forward to going on a shopping spree now and come back flat broke with exactly -0- ccs. No worry, no worry. Cya soon.

    ---- edit ----

:cry: Exactly -0- ccs and flat broke again.:cry:

No worry whatsoever. I'll calm down  and not think too much . Hmmm: visit the park, spin the wheel, cloud row, maybe even sell some poop 8) and definitely know how to sell lettuce 8). As in RL, what sometimes may appear devastating quite often is not. I'm not happy though:( .

There is absolutely no way to go completely broke in this game :). Just because one cannot see the cc total in their account does not mean the ccs are not hidden in the barn somewhere.

Broke this thread has been really useful for a lot of players, including me. I have learned more things about the market than I knew before.

What will you do with the upcoming event? Will you try to be included in the top 1000 players?
Tell us our thoughts about it.

  18. farmer_broke

    farmer_broke Commander of the Forum

I find your words right on target in beginning Part II of this thread.

As one progresses in their ability to continuously make ccs, charges in style prove quite beneficial. Once the mechanics of the game are somewhat understood one may wish to consider:

    • Developing relationships with other players with BOTH like and dissimilar objectives. By following this one makes the choice to hear them out. Even more important, one will make the conscious choice of deciding when and even whether to listen.
    • Challenge the ideas of others. Before openly engaging in this practice, try and prove to oneself that another's idea has little or no merit. It is okay to be wrong as we learn from one another in this thread. Being wrong in ones market activities leads only to one paying in terms of virtual currency.
    • Challenge ones own ideas very kindly but very honestly.
    • Identify garbage. Periodically these words are written: "This is a game and there is not right way or wrong way to play." The obvious is true bt is often time offered as an excuse for inefficient actions in the market as well as in growing. In Part II of this thread one should by now recognize that there are definitely ways of achieving one objectives efficiently and somewhat less efficiently. (If ever we make it to Part III the "This is a game ....." will be completely ignored as it will discourage growth in market activities.
    • Periodically changing ones viewpoint. View the game from the standpoint of profit oriented enterprise and one will see several possibilities. Over time, errors will certainly be made. However, many times one will see clearly developer action which will result in market changes.
While you refine your own techniques you will build confidence in yourself and your actions. Going to exactly -0- ccs is really not the big issue it often seems. For those with no understanding of Part I of this thread, the experience of having no ccs can be quite lengthy.

And this brings me to Arielh's post:
Clearly changes made in the game's direction are most often made with advance planning. Most know little of EV and even fewer periodically view the game from a developer's point of view. A few signs of the current event follow. They were so very clear that I began the Harvest Hoedown: Top 1000 thread and strategically requested it be closed.
    • Game changed hands several years ago and BP picks it up.
    • Many glitches in the game and I assure you that they all can be fixed and this is not a cheap fix.
    • One source of funds is super grow.
    • Events increase with increasing frequency.
    • Super grow being given away with increasing frequency.
    • Super grow being offered in sales with increasing frequency and changes in amounts.
    • Glitches decreasing so funds are coming from somewhere
    • CAC row given away as event demands increase (they must take it away and/or make it useless)
    • Flower cloud rows given away as event prizes
Before going further and completely explaining I have a question: Where are the ccs to be made?
