    Event Crop : Camelina [IMG]
    Drops : powerboosters [IMG]
Milled Product : Bio-fuel, premium & normal [IMG] [IMG]

Reward : Tractors of different colours

Remember we spoke about bio-fuel for a racing event & the rewards would be different colours of tractor. This is the Event. We will produce bio-fuel from the event crop needed for tractors. The bio-fuel will be of 2 types Normal & Premium. Drops will be something like power boosters. The crop & the drop might be milled to give bio-fuel - premium & normal.

    For our General Knowledge:

    1. Camelina is a flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae
    2. Usually known in English as camelina, gold-of-pleasure, or false flax,
    3. Also occasionally wild flax, linseed dodder, German sesame, and Siberian oil seed. It is native to Europe and to Central Asian areas.
    4. The name Camelina comes from the Greek for "ground" and "flax", alluding to its being a weed which suppresses the vigour of flax crops. (Arielh ! Where are you ? ;) )
    5. This plant is traditionally cultivated as oil seed crop for vegetable oil & animal feed.
    6. Brown mustard (Brassica juncea), canola (Brassica napus) and camelina (Camelina sativa) are all relatives.
    7. All the three are used for making oils as well as bio-fuel
    8. Countries like USA are taking steps to use it as Bio-fuel especially as aviation fuel.

    ERROR --LOL

For a further FYI (and because there might well be confusion in US -- there is another plant more commonly called "Camelia" here in the US, it is a Bush/small tree, native to Japan, with a very, very beautiful flower. It is popular in garden shows throughout the southern and western temperate US.

Camellia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. They are found in eastern and southern Asia, from the Himalayas east to Japan and Indonesia. There are 100–250 described species, with some controversy over the exact number. The genus was named by Linnaeus after the Jesuit botanist Georg Joseph Kamel, who worked in the …

Woody ! Your post is great & useful. flowers are beautiful too. So I wanted to see if its grown in my land too. And what do you think I found out ! Camellia is tea plant!!! Grown in Tamilnadu too. Thanks for the information. Always thought about the tea leaves but left out its flowers !!! Seems there are several varieties with colours ranging from red, pink , rose to white.

Relatively little-known outside East Asia, it is the most important cooking oil for hundreds of millions of people, particularly in southern China.
Camellia oil is commonly used to clean and protect the blades of cutting instruments.
Camellia oil pressed from seeds of C. japonica, also called tsubaki oil or tsubaki-abura (椿油) in Japanese, has been traditionally used in Japan for hair care.

Thanks for introducing the tea flower to me. So far only thought about two leaves & a bud.

P.S. Friends, please note Camellia is not the event crop. Its Camelina. Its a yellow flower & the plant will be similar to mustard plant. Want to see a mustard plant ? No. No. I am not posting a picture of it !!! Just soak few mustard seeds in water overnight & put it in a pot, it will grow beautifully. Takes only a small pot.

The picture with the houses & vacant land, does that mean anything ?:music: A new vacant plot or so ?

Because the words accompanying the above farm picture posted by the Moderator, says,

" I had wanted to take a walk but needed some things ... A lot of energy too ... Some friends offered to go ... I decided to make a career of tractors on the farm but we needed more space ...

Here everything is clear .. .
we will give a few laps!"

and the Turkish Forum post of the Moderator also says

"I wanted to do some hiking on the farm, but I realized I need some stuff !! Too much energy, for example ...... I decided to do something with farm tractors, but I needed more space ... "

or, I sit just an Event Background ????
If I place a bet, sure I place it on the tortoise ;)

Hi 12ss12, I am here now;)
I don't know if "Camelina" comes from these Greek words. Ground and flax doesn't seem to me that can create this word but maybe I am wrong...

    Howdy!!!

The word Camelina is Latin, but the word itself is made from the Ancient Greek words «χαμαί» and «λίνον».

I don't really know what these words mean, I wasn't very good at Ancient Greek at school... xD

You are welcome to English Forum too, dear friend ! Share your news with us too. I have heard Ancient Greek is somewhat different from Modern Greek. Arielh, somewhere mentioned Ancient Greek & Latin are somewhat related. And that she might study Latin.

    Hello 12ss12 !!! xD

Some words of the Ancient Greek were changed in the Modern Greek. Despite that, these to versions of the Greek language are very similar.

AND SOME HISTORY: Greeks colonised the Italian Peninsula thousands of years ago. So, they gave to Italians-Romans the Greek Alphabet and they changed it a little bit. Then, the Latin alphabet was born. And lots of Latin words are actually greek.

Well, I don't think this is the right place to talk about that, but nevermind. :music:
