To complete this event you will need:

• 25 Dalmation dogs
• 21 Elkhound dogs
• 7 Husky dogs
• 3 Party dogs/Spuds McKinley (In Event FAQ, the tabular column says Spud Mckinley - but the requirements below name it as Party dogs. DOG FAQ names them as Spuds McKinley)

To breed the above coloured dogs you need 1652 dogs & 413 Powerfeeds. This calculations are for breeding out of BBD. So if you breed during BBD, the actual amounts of dogs & Powerfeeds might be half of it. My suggestion would be breed Dogs & Dalmations during BBD & you may get considerable amount of others in skips. You can then plan the rest. I am in hope that since requirements are enormous, may be will get good skips.

Strategies:

1. And the Best strategy would be to wait for the Baby Boom Day & breed

Baby Boom Day(BBD)
Starts: Friday, 6th of November at 18:00 CET
Ends: Sunday, 8th of November at 22:00 CET​

2. Buy coloured dogs to save your Powerfeeds. But CCs will be gone.

3. Do a mixture of breeding & buying
.
4. If you don't have enough pheromones, Start the breeding before BBD without pheromones & harvest it after BBD starts. Or start the breeding at night without pheromones & harvest it the next day.

5. Do a round or two of breeding of basic dogs & see if you get any skips for higher dogs. Thereafter you can plan for the top level coloured dogs needed.

5. If you do the 1st & 4th level completely you will get 60 powerfeeds back(30+30)

6. Try doing some FSQ which will give you powerfeeds.

How many dogs and PF are minimum to complete the challenge (babyboom not counted)?

Hi, I have done some calculation for the total requirements for dogs. BBD not counted. It comes around

The amount is very high. Is my calculation right ? Can any of our mathematical genius check it out. I am afraid to post it in the first thread without checking & maths is not my strong subject.

Spoiler: Calculation for total no. of dogs

1 spud = 4 husk ( 4 x 64 dogs = 256 dogs)
3 spud = 768 dogs

1 husk = 4 x 4 x 4 dog = 64 dogs
7 husks = 7 x 64 = 448

1elk = 4 x dal
1 dal = 4 dog
1 elk = 4 x 4 dogs
21 Elkhound dogs = 16 x 21 = 336 dogs

1 dalmation = 4 dogs
25 Dalmation dogs = 25 x 4 = 100 dogs

Total = 1652 dogs

From the following post, I take it that my calculations are correct. If so wait for BBD to start & then breed. It will reduce the requirement of dogs & powerfeeds by half, hopefully.

 

No news on BBD I'm guessing, unless I've missed it...

Thank you 12ss12! No need for this small mind to question your calculations. All I saw was that one thousand and something dogs and the first strategic move came to mind.

Ohhhh not again! Flat broke with exactly -0- ccs. Huh? I didn't buy much ... I da think. ..... Well, I guess not thinking is a real problem. And 12ss12 is to blame!

 

I do believe this event will cost way more than what we get back as a reward. The CR is underwhelming and below average compared to other recent CR's. Nothing rare or special with the exception of the orange stable and orange factory. 1600+ Dogs and 400+ PF. I'll be taking a pass on this event. Even with a BBD I really don't see much value in this event.

 

Hi Decree if it helps, there is no way the event will require 1600 dogs and 400 PF. The calculations based on no skips and no BBD are pointless and misleading! With BBD I would say 200 dogs and 200 PF will be more than enough for most to complete the event (unless you are very unlucky).

 

Decree, I totally agree with Mir.

Breeding is one of my favorite things and I have been keeping track of past events. Mostly so I can figure out how much PF I can use for my own purposes and still have enough for events. On average breeding during BBD it's 200 to 250 base animals and 170 to 200 PF (not accounting any that is rewarded) to complete the event.

You may still decide not to participate but you shouldn't make that choice based on worst case scenario numbers.

 

Totally agree. The requirements look to be the exact same as previous breeding events, which didn't take nearly the worst case totals for me to complete. Mir's estimates of 200 seem pretty on par with what I've experienced in the past events. Remember, too, that if you're low on PF you can always sell extra base or first level animals and then buy some of the higher level animals you need. Or if you're really rich, you can just buy all the required animals. No one should be discouraged by the super-high numbers. It won't be that difficult.

 

I am looking forward to this event so much that I may finally be willing to forgive BP for making dogs so easy to make! Sure I was growing bonetrees relentlessly during MM and milling dog food whenever my mill freed up before they changed the formula, grrr. Then the price of my hoard of dogs deflated with the switch from Wonder to Normal stables, ouch. But now I can enjoy the fact that the baby farm has become a dog pound. It is much fairer to be changing things up so that new and old farms can participate. (Hoping cats are next on the list to similarly transition to normal stables and breeding.) I was still able to stock up on soybeans and potatoes at a reasonable price today for making lots more dog food, there is still plenty in my markets. Dogs are already up to 4K cc in my market today, a very nice price recovery.

I am going for a different strategy for this breeding event. I will breed and sell early and buy leftovers at the end to finish late. Time will tell if patience will be rewarded!

 

I agree with what the others have said, Decree! And if you have the baby boom rune open on the tree, you have a 20% chance of getting four base animals along with a breeding animal. I usually end a breeding event like this having earned back at least half as many base animals as I started with!

 

I am in complete agreement with, Mir. Wait for the BBD & breed. You might need only half of everything. Seems my calculation are right. Patting myself on my back.

I have a Strategy that does not Require to use any Power Feeds for Dog Breeding Nor Using Any Dogs Needed for Breeding !!! I have been Growing Dogs to Run up to Dog Breeding when the first rumours that it was going to be the next Breeding Animal.

I have sold some Dogs for Nice CC for my Slurging Wallet and Will Continue to sell Dogs to keep building up to Fat up my Wallet....The Reason for this is I will Start Browsing the Dog Breeding Markets and Snap up any Breeding Dogs as i can from the Markets...as there is no need to use Power Feeds using this Method...But it not going to be easy as they are gone as soon as they appear in the Markets but when Most Farmers have completed this Quest by my Method or Pure Breeding or Combination of Both.

These Breeding Dogs appear in the Markets near the End of MM Event...But at Higher Price you will find Bargains at Earliest Stages !!! it will be a new Challenge for me to resist using any Power Feeds on Dog Breeding. But i know i will not be getting any skips at all this way. But is seem quiet rare to see any good skips anyway.

Each of us has a Set Budget of Power Feeds and Dogs for This Event to complete this Event Varies on Basis how lucky we get on the Skips. Some of Us may be able to do this using 100 to 120 Power Feeds. But we will be getting 60 Power Feeds Back. My Method that i will Gain 60 Power Feeds plus i will sell 75 Dogs Back to the Market for CC.

The Price of Dogs in nicely Growing in Price actually helps lots for me to try this Method sold some Dogs Between 4400 to 5400 CC as I have almost 4000 Dogs in my Barn. Any Farmer who is rich in CC in Their Barn is able to use my method.

Is the new breeding window going live with this event Mooboy? I really hope so! I am so looking forward to not having to mess up my fields again!

I like your strategy ... and one day I may try it. But I do love breeding for myself as well. Oh, do I test it out on Illy and let Chevrefeuille do it herself? Decisions, decisions. I will try to hold off from breeding on this farm until Sunday and if I haven't got all the necessary doggies by then, I will breed like there is no (breeding) tomorrow (well there won't be if BBD starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday!).

 

I am with you. That said, I likely would not do much for this event anyway. I am not buying PF, and my time right now is limited (kids B-day. etc -- sorry, but more important than Farmerama event) so its actually a relief to me that the rewards are not so great -- I won't feel like I am missing anything.

I will do some, but mostly -- those of you who are participating heavily, HAVE FUN!

 

I've just put 4 breeding hotels in my field as I wanted to check if the new breeding method was in use. Apparently it is not.

I will wait for BBD before breeding any more.

 

Mooboy, I am in awe of your having nearly 4000 dogs! To think, I was excited at having nearly 600. Maybe one day I will be as

prosperous as you and dear farmer_broke; would love to try that no PF strategy. For now, I will plug away at breeding and snatch a few market bargains when I can!

Since this is the first time for dog breeding, my usual strategy of buying animal bargains all along to build up stock will not work. As soon as BBD hits, I will breed everything quickly and perhaps have something for sale; then look for later bargains to swoop after with whatever gains I achieve.

I'm trying to follow in Mooboy's footsteps but just can't keep up
I only have 2000 dogs and will be watching the market closely. I bought a bunch of them when they were still priced at 500 or below and have been producing them since it was announced. I'll still breed some just because I love BBD.
