GuineaUp - How many did you get?

I got a little over 100 (maybe 109?) and my set up is this:
Main: Howie, Pet Owl, Charity water well, 3 swans, 5 hydrant factories and a pink dog, the rest was in carnations
Meadow: Pet Owl, Pet Crow, 4 sawmills, the rest in cotton
Glade: Full of Trees, some were rare (20 hour), XXL, and 7 jumbos

I have pulled all workshops, stables and trees for the event crop as I will be away from the computer a little less than 24 hours and am trying to maximize the time I have.

    LL rune, 30% trophies

On BW: I had more trees out, 2 hydrants workshops and jumbo horse pen, crops were artichoke and other long something I cannot remember but I got 131 there

Just because you may not get triple digits from the first harvest doesn't necessarily mean that you will struggle for drops. Good luck!

For a first harvest it is quite simple, the longer the better :) The drop rate is based (in some mysterious way) on the basic time. So regular 20 hour trees are better than XXL trees for the first harvest. I also don't think that neon/pink stables would yield better drops than other stables.

During the event it is a bit different. Here an XXL tree (harvested twice a day) is better than a regular tree (harvested once a day), because the regular tree will "leave the plot idle" for 4 hours. But better than an XXL tree is probably crops or stables with water. Everything that speeds up the maturing time will increase your drops - as long as you harvest on time. If baha yields drops, growing vegetables there with tiki timers and water s a good idea. On the mainland you can grow crops with an "early bloomer" refinement. Crop square has the best time reducing refinement (without using super grow). And rule number one is to harvest on time - don't leave the farm idle :)

And like pnp said, don't worry just because you don't get over a hundred drops to start with. It's not until quite recently that I started getting that :)

    @PuppiesandPonies and @-Mir85-...
Thank you SO much for your replies :inlove: I'll need to plant event crops ("junks") all day, 'til I force myself to go to bed tonight, lol but before I retire for the night I'll change out a few stables and workshops on my fields and then plant my refined carnations overnight and see how it goes. I always try to match up my tree harvests as much as possible by using Turbo-Mulch, but I don't have any pets that help with drops, or any magic trees either. Wickedly wet and windy stormy weather will be bearing down on me any minute, so I may lose power which will take it's toll on all my efforts to achieve better drops, but Thanks none the less!

Oh and PnP- my first harvest (including a few gifts) only granted me 63 or so drops.. :sleepy:but I only had onions planted overnight (as I needed them) so the number of initial drops was not even enough to complete step 1 of task 1. I have managed to gather and receive several more drops thru the day, so I'm now working on step 2 of the 1st task...barely.
Hoping for better results tomorrow from my field changes and overnight carnations. We shall see tho, (crossing fingers and toes).

Thanks again for the tips and also Thanks to everyone who has gifted me a drop! :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

I have LL trophies at 28%. I planted carnations yesterday somewhere around reset time, water and manure depending on how long it would take until the event started. I planted crops on 2x2s (not 1x1s as I suspect Mir and pnp did). I have a mixture of trees on the edges, pens and a few workshops (about 16 on each field, some pinks most not). The rest is crops (24 to 28 per field). To maximize drops, I ALWAYS use the harvester (I don't normally farm with the harvester). This puts the maximum harvest into the "formula" all at once and it is my opinion that it helps to do this. If you don't have the harvester available to you, you are probably better off using 2x2s which can be hand harvested faster. After 2 or 3 harvests with 2x2s to build up numbers, I have now switched to 1x1s as the number of event crops on three fields is high and I will be planting longer crops overnight. For several recent events, I haven't even used 1x1s and I was still able to finish. It is also easier (and cheaper) to put manure, SG and SSG on 2x2s than 1x1s. I don't have any Howies.

Total number of drops from first harvest this morning was 109.

I don't have a lot of pink stables Guinea Up...I have one pink chicken and one pink cow and 1 neon ...i grow the longest crops i have in my inventory overnight which are Carnations that take 18:45 to grow and have those in the plant refinery that... apparently increases water effectiveness by 8% and increases manure by 10% and I am at 29% on LL
Have lots of trees stables and workshops and i got 80 or just over ...when i harvested my fields this morning and i plant in 1x1 and use CAC
Generally Carnations give me good drops ...but the last event they didn't
I am HOPING they will this event...but am not holding my breath ;)

    Mmm 2x2s :music:
we can only do our best ;)

@BlackCaviar... I am using the harvester, and all 1X1 plots for event crops. I've also drained what little SSG and SG reserves that I had saved up, just to get a jump on bulking up on the event crops. No Howies here either. Guess I'm doing the best I can for now... soI'm gonna just have to hope that my changes and over night crops give me in a better drop rate for tomorrow AM.
    Thanks for your reply :)

There are many different ways to play the game, GuineaUp. You just have to find the one that works best for you. Getting your trophies up helps. Refinements on crops help. I find that sometimes I get great drops from other flowers besides carnations. Iris and lilies seem to work well sometimes. My strategy varies depending on the event, the amounts of SG, SSG and manure I have. My current strategy seems to work well for me. Good luck.

I say drops are quite generous this event on a per field basis. I hate the silly 4h crops. Waste of my RL time. Not impressed with the givers. But of course I'll try to do the whole event. lol. Got another rain delay today. But RL is going to make the silly event crops difficult. As usual I'm more worried about crops than drops. I'll probably get 4 harvests of event crops per day and either long crop that fits my schedule at night or maybe even event crops at night, since I'm not worried about EP anymore. Not sure yet. I figure I'm going to need about 12 more harvest of event crops, finish day 4 most likely.

    My standard farm configurations...
Main -- small plots, rare trees on the edges
    Meadow -- small plots
Glade -- 32h workshops timed to finish in less than 24hs with water, about 35 pens. And about 10 animal pens, timed to finish in about 10-11:30h after water is added
    Baha -- trees
    RainForest -- trees
This is the way I have had the farm for months because of RL. I think I might have had to clear the Glade a time or two to get event crops done.

Initial harvest of "refined" carnations in small plots, that were watered and manured, 11:44?h w/o CR, and the above mentioned...
Farm One, (two magic trees, 5 Howie donuts, 5 pets totaling 45% harvested once or twice a day) -- 135 drops
Farm Two, (8 magic trees, ZERO Howies, 3 pets totaling 15% harvest once or twice a day) -- 131 drops, one field of carnations gave me 51 drops.
Farm Three, (6 magic trees, ZERO Howies, 3 pets totaling 15% harvested once or twice a day) -- 120 drops
I haven't even used a ZAB to boost EP in months because I can't remember due to what little gray matter I have left is being used for RL. I never use Jumbo trees. They take to long and occupy too many squares. I prefer to try to get four drops from four 20h trees than get one drop from a Jumbo.

For those of you that think Howie's help with drops... Farm One should have a statistically significant higher drop count than the other two farms, but it doesn't.

For those of you that think EP helps with drops... Farm One should have a statistically significant higher drop count than the other two farms, but it doesn't.

Most of my carnation fields gave me 30-40 drops. In fact most fields are giving less than 40 drops so using 2x2s with long crops is a reasonable way to go for this event.

Harvester helps because it speeds the process up a few minutes. I use it to save on the hand/wrist pain.

Aside from the above and this thread...
    https://board-en.farmerama.com/index.php?threads/general-event-strategies.10970/
my strategy is based, primarily, on my RL schedule.

    Good luck, y'all!

I have decided to do event crops on comfort fields, I really can't be asked to do 4 hr crops any other way. Around the edge I am growing carnations, raspberries or roses depending on time. If I can't get enough drops then I will do long crops everywhere on 2x2 or edges.
My plan is to do events as unstressfully as possible!

Suzee, do you move the Howies from field to field?

Was able to get 120 Mittens on my long crop of Iris. I've picked up another 3 from gifts and was able to get another 11 in the two waves of 1 hour SG event crops which gives me a total of 144. I'm also operating at full capacity for growing event crops now. I'm a little disappointed at the drop rate of the event crop thus far, but won't really know until later today.

May luck be on your side!

Correction... I only have 4 Howie's. Sorry about that. (That's still a lot of Howie's! LOL!) One on each of the following fields... Main, Meadow, Glade and Baha. Need one for the Rainforest still. He helps a lot with tool drops.

We can only have one on each field, right? So no need to move them. I can try moving the Island one just for fun...

We only need a daily average of 131 drops per day so anyone with more than that from the initial harvest is in great shape. If they keep up the pace.

I was thinking about using CFs too because I hate the time sink of the event crops. But decided it would be a little iffy for me.

I had all trees as we were traveling home from Thanksgiving with family. I had harvests saved up for 48 hours since the last harvest and had trees on auto. I received 193 mittens from the first harvest. I have started removing trees as they reach the next harvest and replacing with event crop using SG and the 2x2 fields to build up my supply for doing a full 3 fields of event plants tomorrow.
I did put some horses and pigs out on the glade for today and will replace with event crop tomorrow. This one seems to be easy so far as I expect at least 200 mittens for day 1.

Thanks for clarifying Suzee :) You can have as many Howies as you want on a field (though not sure if more than 20, i.e. a 100% increase, will count). Furthermore, Howies only work on the field they are placed. So if you have 4 placed on different fields, the effect is the same as having 1 that you move from field to field. So it is not so strange that you don't see a huge effect.

I've had a spectacularly bad start to this event. Not so much due to the game but a nasty RL event. I woke up this morning to discover a pipe had burst in the wall of a bathroom. So I've spent the day with a wet vac and a bad tempered over-priced plumber. >:( At this point if I can just get the Christmas tree and the PF out of this event I will consider myself lucky. I've got another lovely day ahead of me of more wet vac and interviewing contractors to fix the wall. What a nightmare. o_O

We have a new event and it's winter themed !
Got my crops started: what else do I need?
Yes ! We get to play in fresh snow...
I can't wait to get dressed, and outside I go !
    :)
And BP is helping by giving us clothes
So we can stay warm from head , down to toes...
but wait - not a pair? - only one mitten?
Oh No ! nothing to put my right hand in !!!!
    :wuerg:
One warm left hand, and the other quite frozen..
I'd use a thick sock, but they've got my toes in !
And I throw snowballs with that particular hand
I cannot stay out as long as I planned !!

I've turned one inside out; nope, that is not right
and Our team got pounded in the last snowball fight
Put a left on my right, my thumb feels all wrong
We were so looking forward to snow coming along.
    :)
Have fun in this event - no more will I knock it
Even if we do it with one hand in pocket!
One last thought to end this wee rave
    Down here in NZ, we've a summer heat-wave !!
    xD

I got less than ten from all three fields and I have the trophy leveled to 26? Of course that doesn't include many animal stables. So I guess we will see. I have a ton of event crop and hardly any mittens. I planted my highest ep giving crops. We'll see what happens there.
