Winter Activities Event/Snow Business

I don't like this event at all. It wasn't a good event to start our December festivity. But now that I've started I really wanted to finish.

Ok, I haven't put my heart on this one since the beginning but I'm really struggling with the drops. Something that (on a regular event) has never happened to me since... 1974!

"Only" missing Lvls 4 and 5, gold and diamond. I'll most probably get all level 5 (I want the tree and PF), but I'm not sure about level 4.
After all, the big prize there is 65 SG. I don't want to spend SG on insta-finish crops to win SG. That would be silly, wouldn't it?

EDIT: And I still have one harvest of junk left. Don't think I want to plant it without knowing I can make it.

Just have the last gold and diamond tasks to go, with my final rounds of event plant in the fields. Then back to regular farming for the last 80 drops needed. Should finish today (unless RL work day goes crazy)!
Dear Broke, I have some mice I could loan you to help with harvesting - but they might eat more than they put in your baskets.

I am enjoying it being so laid back ... and yes, we always do use more stuff than we actually win but that's all part of the events, isn't it?
Come on Arrq, pull up a chair, I'll pour us a nice Red Punch and you can tell me all about it.

 

Bad internet connection due to this rain & flood. Connects only for few seconds & then goes away. After trying for nearly 3.45 hrs, I was able to load the farm completely & do the harvest & plant roses. I thought I would do the last round of ice flowers. No chance now. The day has ended here. Moreover I have got a headache due to this continuous attempts to login.

I guess you should try lettuce refinement. Seriously.
& may be tomorrow I will try wheat. May be I will get 3 drops from 3 harvest and it will be only 30 mins. While typing I am thinking why not give it a try. May be tomorrow. The highest I get from ice flowers per field is 7.

I really do not know what a Howie is. I have to find out what it is tomorrow.

In the next harvest aftersome 3 hours or so, I got 7 drops from the same magical glade of ice flowers with howie. May be he got frightened seeing all this commotion and decided to do his work properly.

 

Finished just now, once I finished those ice flowers I seemed to get more drops by mixing up the 3 fields e.g. daffodils, spinach and carnations gave me better total drops than 3 fields of carnations. Even though I've finished, this has been a tough one, so I'm off to see who needs a hand.

 

Done! Morning harvest gave last of drops needed to finish, finished growing event "junks" yesterday. I have noticed that anything that increases EP helps with drops. So try to take full advantage of CR's, Pets, & Buffs (Easter Marmalade & Spring Wreaths). Good Luck to everyone.

 

That is probably just a coincidence dafodily this has been tested by many farmers over time before, and the conclusion was that increasing EP does not help with drops.

I guess I don't like the prizes that much. Thought it would be more juicy in a winter event. And now, I realize I'm way behind many of you on drops count! What have I done different???

Really? the days I did not have Easter Marmalade going the drops were very low & the days the CR buffs for trees & pens were going my drops have increased. We know BP has made adjustments to the drop algorithm over time might this have changed the EP effect?

 

I guess it is possible, but I doubt it. If there is a noticeable increase from just EM which is a 30% bonus, and the cloud rows with an even smaller bonus, think how huge the increase would be with a 300% bonus (7 owls, 7 crows, 2 dragons, 2 unicorns, ZAB, CB and EM. With some more pets and TOP1000 items you can even get a bigger bonus). In the German forum there are players who do statistics on all sorts of things, I doubt something like that would have gotten past them.

I have at last got the remaining Mittens so just completed this Event. As it seem not many like this Event as it was tougher to complete than we first thought as using only three Fields to Get Mittens is much Tougher than we anticipated.

Growing Ice Flowers on it own simply do not help much with Drops of Mittens, but what was surprising using Howie Donuts did not make much of impact among some of you was shocking low amount of Mittens

dafodily if you was under Impression that Increasing EP on Crops help boost Drop of Mittens, is not True it is more of case of Randomness of Drops plus Crops with Higher EP tends to have Longer growing time which would explain why you was getting Better Drop Rate of Mittens. We had postings on this Climb under the Old Forum, Which was not the Case.

I really do hope that some of you do manage to complete this Event, Although some of you are struggling getting those needed Mittens I am relieved that I can take Pressure off my Farm just do laid back Farming for Few Days until Next Event comes Along !!!ue t

I have always Advised to Try have best Start to An Event to get as many drops as you can, which helps easy some Pressure to get the Remaining amounts of Mittens due to Exemption of Baha and Rainforest plus Low Drop Rate on Ice Flowers. It would be more Helpful to Have Living Legend Rune Unlocked saving moving those Crop and Animal Trophies Around. Cant Imagine Moving Howie Donuts As well such a Pain to do this. Plus it helps to Get % of Crop and Animal Trophy at Higher % for Better Drop Rates But it is more Harder for Newbies to do this to Overall Costs of Crops and Animals have Risen in Prices in the Markets to what they used to be

 

Mir, you and dafodily have found me and I may as well say how my attitude about growing junks and no problem ever with drops relate to one another.
The attitude keeps me focused on what I'm after. This is the only thing I have ever written down about this game.

• I began by wanting to determine the drop algorithm! Yes, very aggressive! But determining the drop algorithm and being done with it simply is NOT going to happen. Why? Because the specific algorithm parameters are changed periodically and I have determined that is done so purposely.

And with that said, I have changed my approach. Instead of the specific drop algorithm, I want a prediction model! And I'm getting reeaaaaaaal close. Buffs were included at first in my search for predictor variables. I do not have access to all of them but the ones I was able to include had negligible effects on my prediction model to the point where I now regard them as noise and do not include them. I have yet to rule them completely out though.

The prediction model will NOT give me exact results I am sure. But if I can get to within -1 or +1 drops per field accurately then I will be happy. Maybe next year I'll be done testing the model on other farms.

And that is my strategy to try and grow nothing unnecessarily.

 

I still have at least one more planting of the event crop to do and another 110 mittens to collect to finish level 6 gold and diamond. I admit I haven't been that focused as RL is keeping me pretty busy. I guess if I didn't refuse to remove my trees I would probably be done with the event crop but then I would have to deal with putting out all my trees again. Seems like a fair trade off to me to leave them in place.

I've gotten everything I really wanted out of the event so if I fall a bit short on drops it won't matter that much. I've been using refined carnations for my overnight crops and the drops have been normal. It's the meager 4 to 7 drops I've been getting on the event crops that have really slowed me down.

Congratulations to all who have finished and good luck to all those still working on it! I hope everyone that celebrates it is much further along on their Christmas shopping than I am. If my lovely husband volunteers me for one more thing he won't be getting anything but the blackest of coal in his stocking this year. "You need someone to take over the church fundraiser this year, you know my wife would just love to do it."

 

Seems I picked a good event to try new ways to play
Ming incubator farm still 2 levels from being able to get my paws on donkeys, has all the crops and so far from drops needed it's just sad.
But got the dragon so anything else is gravy.
keltic will finish two more fields of flowers and will be complete, sooo did not think I would be still working on it this far into the game.

Issues I see:
Ming just too young to get the drops at trophy count 10%, not high enough to have long crops to grow. I will keep dumping everything into trophies, need more drop power.
keltic: not quite ready for leaving stalls out, should have got event crops done asap live and learn.
Next time.....Yes, next time.

 

I love it how farmerbroke has us all saying "Planting Junks"... I have gotten some help on drops and I want to thank those of you who took it upon yourselves to send me a mitten. I am grateful and I appreciated the help. I will get my tree this evening after my "Junks" pop out..... and anything after that is gravy. I got six all done yesterday as I wanted those the most... just had to have those decorations. Good luck and have FuN!!!!
