I finished earlier today on my main farm because I can not shake my FOCD - growing stupidly large amounts of junk for that last step. Thank you to those who advised to not stress over this one, just choose the prizes you like. Very good advise, and I really planned to stop on both farms after I got the Christmas tree and powerfeed and the purple dragon. I did nearly the entire event using 2x2s, never took down my trees and most of the time used comfort fields - all very inefficient choices but necessary as I had limited time to farm. I paced growing junk with the collection of drops, as I see no point in having a stockpile of junk when the drop rate seemed both slow and unpredictable. My little farm did not plan to get far, so I left a lot of stalls and workshops up. This turned out to be a good choice, with fewer but more consistent drops.

Thank you so much to all the kind folks who helped bring a purple dragon to my little farm! To all those who are close, please consider using the SOS thread.

The FAQ said "increase drop chances by 5%" and yes, that is how I understand it. As for the trophies, I was acquiring them over time, so didn't notice a dramatic improvement at any time. But there is definitely a big difference between what a new player (with low trophy percentage) can get compared to us. If a lot of the difference is down to the trophies, then perhaps that is a reasonable numbers.

I know of a player with over 50 Howies, and he won't put more than 20 in a field, that seems to be the general consensus in the German forum. During the September event someone with 13 Howies started moving them around in the middle of the event and the increase was big. I have no doubt that Howies affect event drops, but a Howie in each field doesn't make that much difference.

Howies definitely makes a big difference in getting the drops, if you have enough of them... I have 9 which I move around when doing events and I never ever have any problems getting the drops needed to finish.

I did not want to do all of this event but if I did I would end up having a surplus of around 300 drops. I know I did not grow that many Iceflowers, which seemed to have a bad influence on drops . On the other hand I didn't grow that many long timed crops and switched to animals the last couple of days and I did only use my Howies till I had what I wanted.

If anyone wants to do calculations on the drops using Howies versus no Howies I will gladly provide the information at any time. I will grow whatever needed to make it possible to make a reliable comparison :) In the name of science!

I hope you all got what you desired:)

    Hello meba,
In this event case, I was just happy to finish, besides growing the event crops, not sure how many times the LTC-Long Timed Crops were turned but not many in 3 -1/2 days. Donkeys stayed.
    9 Howies !:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:WTG !

The rate previously determined was applied to orchid with the goal to determine the exact number of event drops to be received. I got a number. CAC had run out but I still planted using the same 1x1 plots knowing there would be no crop increase due to CAC use. The actual drops were .25 more than calculated mathematically. Rounding the calculation gave me the exact number of drops actually received.

The rate is polluted by one variable which I cannot change on this farm: the trophies with LL . (Using the same method I am able to compute a base rate using another farm with no drop boosters. Maybe next event. This would also tell me what newbies are faced with as well as providing a basic rate.)

Limitations. The exact effect(s) of drop boosters, singularly or in total, cannot be determined at this time. I can only continue to suspect that such boosters do have a positive effect when applied to the rate determined. How much is a topic for further consideration. The effects of a combination of pens and different size trees and production pens when all harvested at the same time has not been determined. Because drops received highly relate to time to finished production, they do modify drops.

Brief tips for event completion or not to complete
    1. Get a good start if possible as the first harvest done as closely to the event start decreases the concern for drops during the event itself.
    2. When event junks are called for they must be grown. The junks should be grown in a manner which decreases the time in which the sit ready for harvesting. Many have said this before and point blank: Do not let your fields sit idle if at all possible but try and always consider Real Life when growing/producing in the game.
    3. Be realistic and enjoy your life.
This is a time management game. Developers do want us to complete the events. If one will keep their farm constantly producing during an event then event completion is not a problem at this time. Mismanagement of ones time will only result in complaints regarding drop rates and that drop rate is purely academic.

Thanks for all for the help. The information provided will be reviewed and considered more times than I care to imagine.

FINISHED!!!! Thank you andready for the next one xD:pxD:p

From my 1 am harvest of junks got mittens drops meadow 5, main 3 - then planted pumpkin on main and crop circle on meadow - glade had roses going through the night. Morning harvest glade 23, meadow 11, main 8 and I lugged the trophies around.

Should we start a thread to continue sluthing this one out?

    Thanks again everyone!

Surprised to find that I finished the event... thought I was behind in drops. Good luck to all who are still struggling.

Finished on both farms this morning, with just 8 hours left of the event (but due to work, couldn't finish any later as by the time I came home, the event would have been over!). Not quite to the wire but as close as I want to be lol! :D

This farm ended up with 55 mittens left and Chevrefeuille had 15 mittens left. Both had less than 20 Ice Flowers left. :p

Bring on the next event ... at least it is a breeding event and not too much harvest/plant/repeat! xD

I finished this torturous event some time really early AM today, but believe you me, I stressed the whole time about drops and crops and missed a lot of sleep. Wasn't a fun event for me :( Might have to sit the next one out, BP can do MUCH better>:(

Thanks again to all the generous Farmers that helped me gather up all the mittens I needed. I think that was the most enjoyable part of it all for me... seeing how generous and willing to help others that my fellow Farmerama Farmers really are ;)

I also leveled up at the same time and that was an additional bonus.... I'm so happy so many of us were able to complete the event.
