Holiday Hustle Strategy thread

Whew just figured out yesterdays progress. After the first harvest of the morning, I've gifted enough penguins to unlock the bear. I'm now up to 132 bottle so need just over 100 to get lvl 1 and the lovely stars. Fingers are crossed. Having friends and neighbors is really helping!!! You've all been so generous, thanks to all!!

Made a real newby mistake though!! One of my friends sent carrot chutney followed by a message that clearly said what it did, how and when to use. Forgot until 1/2way thru harvesting the overnight cardamom Bit of a setback but onward!!!

 

Broke I have been Posting about Drop Rates for Couple of Years now as I did couple of Postings in Old Forum, one of them was a sticky about how to Prepare your Farm to Get Best Event Drops for your Farm on your First Harvest as you can Plan Ahead Prior to Main Event Starting that Requires Event Drops as I always said to try to avoid ill preparing your Farm to get good drops at Start of an Event.

This Kind of Posting is put in Place on Guidance, Advise,outcomes,news, FAQ updates and Strategies, depending on how well we get drops after our first harvest as Drops Varies during an Event, it also quiet Random Still but we can place posting on varies methods we can use to help us find ways to boost drops as i always try some Newer Methods or use old Methods which still the most effective way to get best drops but at times it does mean we have to invest in some Animals Pens or Yellow Animal Pen as than alternative to growing crops specially Refinement Crops but some Refinements do give an negative effect as they are not all in our Favour !!

I have now planted 128 Yellow Reindeer Pens to compare how many drops i would get compared to Refined Carnations using Water and Howie Donuts can use Manure when it is cheap not this time at 300 CC each Manure. Using Cloud Row and Buffs got my Reindeer to 9 Hours and 20 Mins Growing time as we cannot get Carnations to be Grow under 12 Hours Initially Reindeer Pens and Carnations normally both takes 18 Hours to Grow.

I prefer to Grow Reindeer as i can get good money for them or use them for Breeding Reindeer as not much i can do with my Carnations once i have harvest them

If any one is able to Harvest it Farm several times a day would get More Drops to those who harvest their Farm less often but leaving your Farm Idle does put a huge dent of amount of drops you would get during an Event As i have always stated to avoid leaving your farm idle whenever you can it is one of Rules how to Boost your Drops it an Avoidance that is needed to to be kept to as Minimal as Possible if you can

 

After reading some suggestions within this thread based on everyone's commentary, I am working on a new strategy for tomorrows harvest. I must go now but will return in a few hours to advise what my last harvest drops were and how I will proceed tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your point of views.

Well, this has been a trying week. I got sick and missed the first two days of growing. I decided to use all fields and keep my trees for drops. I had used the plus one from the winter calendar already *sigh*

I am almost finished with all crops on my big farm. I am on my last round of cardamom. I am milling chocolate cookies and mulling spice bottles, could only mill 90 bottles cause of drops.

On my little farm, I hadn't used the plus one so am finished with crops and am just taking advantage of the CAC and plus one I have left. I only could mill 80 bottles on this farm, I swear the drops are always less on this farm.

I will definitely finish the event.

 

From the suggestions mentioned, thinking perhaps. I will use Farmer_Brokes suggestion of 2x2's, on the mainland fields plant Aubretia and Hibiscus on baha & rain forest( 8 hr crops) also in 2x2. I tried the 2x2 vs 1x1 with oats, (killing time while pondering) the 2x2 gave 2 drops and 1x1, just one. The one thing I am not sure of is to leave 1x2 and 1x1 plots and fill with seed or put in some xxl trees.. I would normally go the tree route and fill with my highest ep xxls. I haven't used all seed plots 1x1,1x2,2x2 that way before. I'm still unsure of how big a time difference is allowable when using different harvest items ( xxl trees 12hr vs hibiscus 8hrs) I would imagine that would be too great a time difference. I could try Lillies on the main which would fit with the xxls. I will save that spot in the middle for my one and only Howie and he will tour the fields. TY.
I tried Mooboys suggestion, If I noted correctly, received on Main with 44 Yw reindeer & 23 Fullmoon and cork xxls recieved 26 drop items. Meadow 41 yw reindeer 2 mystery stables, and almonds,olives xxls received 22 drops, Glade gave 24 drops with 35 yw reindeer, 2 mystery stables & xxls with CAC running and all pets activated. No cloud row usage there. No CAC next time, or even no pets.
I have the Magic stalk row 1 for flowers, which I thought was also a +1 added to crops, but is not reflecting that under the cloud row description currently.(The magic stalk 2 shows a +1 added to the Bahama vegetables.) I also have 4, + EP % rows for trees, New Year 2015 +5% all drop resources.
I have fed 11 bears and I didn't get what was desired, so back to the mill.....

Ok, so I;m slow but at least I don't give up! 48+ hrs no sleep, much sadness & It's Christmas here... 2:07 am to be exact. so mistake panicked over holiday time 1 bought baskets, when there was no need mistake 2 over feed and didn't stick with the plan, mistake 3 learn how to read 4,5,6, ect...
Ok so I need to build up my event crop to mill more mulling spice to make more candy canes for the cute and chubby Polar Bear in the hope he'll give me one of "his" tasty treats...Please say I FINALLY got it.. You all are amazingly patient! and grateful for that

Well, somehow I have managed to grow too much of the event crops - I have been calculating all along but maths is not my strong point (if anything is!). Just a few drops to collect, this farm needs about 100 and Chevrefeuille about 120 - trees and animals going back on the island fields, so I should get them by tomorrow.

Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Christmas. I will be celebrating tomorrow - working till late today, hence why I am one of the few posters today!

My plan this event has been pretty simple. Grow the minimum amount of event crops as fast as possible. Once that was completed I continued to grow alternating event crops on both Baha fields. This is so that I could make extra treats once I have completed the event. I then transitioned my three main fields to chickens and made about 1000 chickens selling all the manure collected. Since then I've been doing mostly wheat when I have the time to sit around and watch it for a while, or longer crops based on how long I expect to be gone. I have 20 more Candy Canes needed to finish the first round. While I may have been able to finish faster, this has allowed me to gain between 5-10 million cc while still investing in other things. As a personal note. I really liked the rewards from the fox. Lot's of short time coupons which I enjoy for quick farm changes.

bear tasty, oh, I immed. put them all on shipwreck bay
Even, I will need to put one back on cloud row, there is still two remain.
Also, I got 48hr machinery coupon from the 30th prize, what a great day for me.
still need to mill 11 more mulling spices, the event will be all done

When discussing CAC and referring to "output" I in no way wish to suggest that use of CAC refers to drops. A summary of results obtained by myself and others do not indicate that CAC use will increase drop output. CAC use will increase crop output only is what I have found. Thanks for identifying an area of misinterpretation.



The foundation is clear and as Mooboy kindly stated above: "... leaving your farm idle does put a huge dent in the amount of drops you would get during an event ... ." The issue of idleness is indisputable and may be applied to ANY farm in this game during an event or in the absence of an event. (No concern now with initial event harvest and drops though and left for the general strategy thread.) My intent is to explain this in a simple and sensible manner through illustration rather than in general terms with difficulty understanding why. The next area is efficiency in order to achieve drops desired in this event. What is presented in not just one farm specific data.

Say two farms have 36 hours to harvest and both will harvest on time.

Farm 3

• Drop rate set by game developers is not discussed (no need at this point)
• Rung unlocked, trophies at 10%
• Produces reindeer using base stable only with no water. Base reindeer takes 18 hours to harvest
• Elephants produced with base stable on BAHA and rainforest with no water

Farm 4

• Same facts as above except farmer achievements and water use get the reindeer production down to 12 hours (includes use of yellow stable)

Which situation results in more drops, Farm 3 or Farm 4?
Farm 4

Why?
Farm 4 harvests 3 times yet Farm 3 harvests 2 times in the same 36 hour time period. Both farms main fields were completely productive for the entire period using the very same animals! Efficiency with production is the reason for drop increase during the time period and the difference between the number of farm drops was caused by the use of yellow stables.

There are NO OTHER variables which will lead to the drop increase (and of course production of animal increase), NO OTHER,

Implication: CC and BB investment in timesaving items will produce more drops faster than a farm that does not. The investment in yellow pens has produced more drops in the 36 hour time period. Clearly a single 36 hour time period using yellow stable WILL NOT pay for the pens but use over time and harvesting on time must be done in order to receive benefits. Much more can be stated here. At this time the message is efficiency increases production and drop payoffs. Production efficiency will increase drops and output when used over time.

One often wants to take an easy way out and suggests that drops are random. I now regard most clams of such as utter nonsense and can logically and simply defend.

Simply citing results for results sake is not useful to most and the reason is because there are too many variables on farms which are not considered and not controlled for and often cannot be controlled for. Variables are considered in all types of legitimate research and this includes medical research, market research, and game research. Once variables are controlled for and properly considered then the results of a research study may be generalized to a general population. Until then, no way!

I will use this strategy on this farm where appropriate. Please be very hard on the presentation and use of it. And please feel free to summarize the findings and place in some general strategy thread.

I'll try and post more to this strategy. I am sure it works.

Pineapple cake will give you +1 on trees and crops in Baha, but won't do anything for mainland and takes a diamond slot, so may or may not be worth your using.

Drops are random - meaning that if you harvest anise from the main field 10 times during the event, you will not get the same number of drops from each harvest. It does not mean that there is nothing you can do to improve the number of drops per day. There are plenty of things to be done, most important is to keep the fields busy
