It hasn't been so long for me that I don't remember starting out. I only did one of the timed quest to start and that was restaurant. I did do both Noah's Ark and fluffy pancakes (with egg trees) but that was much later. As for the others well I'll probably get to them when I don't have anything else to do.

The rewards for fluffy pancakes certainly do not outweigh the cost of the chickens if using egg farms and the ep giver is a joke. So no I wouldn't advise a chick to go that way for stars. I did much better selling chickens and buying the low cost products (eggs, honey ect) and completing those FSQ's first and also the first couple of levels of some of the breeding quests. Completing what they can of the weekly events is also an excellent source of stars.

BTW: There is an egg tree and an XXL egg tree awarded in step 6 of Cuckoo Kids.

Completing Cuckoo Kids isn't a better option for newer players.

I agree Clashstrummer, those timed quests aren't for everyone. I still have only completed 1 timed quest. I hated it, and never touched them again! When I first started, I kept trying to figure out how to feed the deer that popped up on the main field hahaha. The game is tough to navigate at first. I had a great mentor, who showed me the ropes of the market early on, and ways to make coin is what kept me playing...I went after stars like crazy as well, and have just tons of them now...wish the tree would grow again :) I didn't really get the forum, thought it was more chat, boy was I wrong. I only wish I had dug deeper sooner. There are so many different ways to succeed and the forum is full of them :) Thanks to all

I remember way back in the day, when I first started I had an empty park - when I got to the level to open the park, and not a lot to fill it. So while the EP givers in the earliest FSQ that may not seem valuable when you are level 90 and have more givers than you have room for, they may be valuable to a new farm who has no givers and lots of space.

    Edit
I would definitely NOT advise that. There are FAR better uses for G & T tickets than getting egg pens! They should trade for rare pens and trees, upgrades of pens that they don't want to buy with BB and maybe any cloud row items they have missed from events (though that is less a problem now that events seem to include more givers and be structured so you generally need to get the givers before the cloud row). There are far better uses of G & T tickets than getting egg pens. Advise them to get what they need for the quest, then put them in storage and forget about them. They can wait until they need the products from the quest or until they quest are just annoyingly "in the way". I actually would gift them (or another workshop if they are high enough), because its basically the cheapest way for them to get them and more "cost effective" than other things. The regular pens they can buy with CC, but the workshops require both drop items and animals.

EDIT-- reread your full answer, realized you were talking about egg TREES, not workshops. Egg trees are a good use, though you get one from the cuckoo quest. Not sure if egg trees work for the quest. (can someone check on that.. never mind, I will ask the mods, then post here, I want to know myself!)

    Just my opinion, of course.

Yes, egg trees work for the timed quests. I realize that the Cuckoo quest is well above the beginner but I just wanted to say that waiting is an option. I still think that there are better ways to open land than to use so many chickens in the making of eggs.

There are MANY ways to play the game so if you want to use your chickens that way broke, be my guest. I hope you can agree to disagree on this one. :)

I do not object to waiting. I thought you were saying not to give egg farms.
Thank you for your answer, puppiesnponies said the same thing. I am waiting for an "officially official" answer, but I am sure you are both correct.

I would still say its good to give out egg farms to chicks, because they are not likely to get enough to complete the quests from G & T right off. Also, it depends on if they are willing to spend money/buy BBs to get more tickets. Per waiting... hard to say, really just depends on how the farmer wants to do things. Me.. I wanted to get at least a few quests "off the books" early on. It gave me a sense of accomplishment, but then, I did not know all I know now, either. Not sure how I would do it over again. (hmm... maybe that is a good reason to start a new farm, to try some of these things out...)

I can see and appreciate both points of view expressed on egg farms vs. egg trees in regards to Fluffy pancakes. Because I no longer look for egg trees, I don't know how readily they are available in Gift and trade. I don't have extra egg trees to give to my chickadees when Gift and Trade rolls around. I am not sure if they will easily be acquired by new players since they have been discontinued. Same for all other product trees. It would be nice if BP periodically would offer them (maybe in combination of a new product tree?)

My eyes are slowly opening up to many things, and I have you all to thank for it. Now if I can just decide which of them farms to work I can begin again with help this time.

For first time farmers/new farms an egg farm is one of the highest ep sources available at the start, so it does have its benefits. Especially if the goal is to progress faster/get more land then getting to level 17 (?) as fast as possible to open the meadow makes an egg farm a reasonable investment. (especially for those who may not be able to log in every hour or two at the beginning due to short timed crops). The cost of a couple of chickens is a small price.

Maybe an egg tree or other product tree can be given for quest rewards when it asks for low level products which may be all the newer farm is at a level to complete.

*This is on the basis that you arent using a whole lot of real money to progress faster. Because then there are other options that may be better than the egg farm. Not that there is anything wrong with using real money if that makes you happy.

This is a decent point, but I would still respectfully disagree. When I started a new farm, I leveled up to 30 very quickly by selling chickens, rabbits and then ducks, etc and buying more until my fields were full. That included completing a couple of quests, another ep-yielder for those just starting.
    [/QUOTE]

A decent idea, but it would need to be put in suggestions. Not sure farmerama will agree, unless they reworked the rewards for the cuckoo quest or something. (where you currently get an egg tree).

Buying is not an option I really consider. I won't reiterate the best use of BB thread, but the suggestions there apply to real money since BB is, for most people, acquired with real money.

I think a lot of people just don't want to bother. I don't think we should take lack of communication from chickadees as a failure. There are a lot of reasons for chicks not to respond, including just not wanting to spend more time on the game.

Joining is free, then its a kind of weeding process. A lot of people will just not decide to stick around. All we can do is offer to help, but beyond that, it is not up to us.

some chicks may not respond because they are not sure how to do so.

Congrats to all the new mentors!!:D:D I am not one but was very glad to have my mentor. He lives in Germany and I live in the USA so there was a bit of a language barrier but we figured it out. Translation was used but some of the words just didn't translate correctly but it was enough to understand each other. At times I found it to be a bit comical;);) but I have been told my sense of humor is a little warped at timesxDxD I tried to prolong hitting level 40;);) because I didn't want to fly the roost:eek: However we did become permanent neighbors and occasionally we IGM. For a while there seemed to be a shortage on mentors and I'm happy to see there are more who are very eager to share their wisdom. Chickadees-- take advantage of this while you can!!:):)

True that you can level up fast now . Especially now with all the quests and events. I guess I am still thinking about when I started and they werent as frequent and it was a lot more basic - not quite so many wonder trees or stables. (actually none when I started). And of course the more time you can put into a farm at the beginning the faster it will progress.

But I guess if you are starting a 2nd or more farm then you are more confident with the market and buying and selling. But for the first time farmer they may take time to feel confident with that approach. If you are wondering whether they feel confident responding to a mentor then ask if they would feel confident playing the market?

Woody you are looking at this as an experienced player and having a new farm with all the knowledge that comes with it. I guess I am thinking about it from the point of a first time farmer.

I haven't heard a word out of my birds...I sent them each a bread roll the other day with instructions on how to use it. After looking at level requirements, I see it wasn't enough to make a significant change  So today, I am going to send them yellow pear jam and if they level up, at least I will know they are either getting my messages and/or getting around okay on the farm, and tailor my messaging accordingly. I honestly can't remember, consumables are for all levels, right?

Yes, your chickadees can use your crafted items at any level but can only acquire them in the market for themselves when they reach level 40. :)

Okay, I finally got my first chick to respond to my first message. Yippee!!!!!:inlove: However, their response was just the reply button, they didn't actually type a response. A language issue? Or maybe not enough time but wanted to let me know they are real? Not sure how to interpret this one. Any advice?

baw, in the response, check the line above what you wrote. If they play in English it should say something like

"baw815 wrote the following on 1.11.2016:"

If the message is in another language, then that is the language they play in :)
