Okay, so I was truly disappointed when I discovered the Nightmare pet was being removed from Renzo, as I could have easily gotten enough chips to buy him last time but didn't realize it was the last time for him. And I just realized the dragon's gone from the shop too o_O:cry::cry:. Now with the new edition of Renzo, we can get Howie Donut or the Flying Squirrel pet, and I'm not sure which to go for :p. I've got my trophy fully done, and drops aren't usually much of an issue for me during events, but it's always nice to have a little extra buff. On the other hand, I don't have any pets on this farm, so this would be my first. So I was looking for thoughts on which is the better choice. Opinions, anyone?

Howie Donut is my choice, it helps with all drops. Caveat being, you have to move them like the old trophies before you got LL rune. I wish you could buy more than one Howie. At least one for each field or bunch them all together and move them from field to field. One can dream, right? :p :inlove: :music:

Thanks for your input, baw!:) Yes, I know, hate having to move things, always forget to leave open spots for them before plant field:p. Part of the reason I'm so glad to have the LL rune done. Here on spots I have the squirrel and a Howie I somehow managed to get back when I first started playing. He stays in one place all the time, even during events, I never bother to move him xD.

I am facing same choice, but leaning toward Howie Donut. Per the moving bit... I got in the habit of putting a plot of something that would really stick out -- often corn -- where I would be sure to notice. I would see it and it would remind me that I needed to move my trophies (now the howie) I would harvest that one plot, place my trophy/howie, then harvest the rest

I have a Howie on every field and when doing a new arrangement on my farm forgot to put them back out. Honestly I saw no difference in my drops at all which means if there was one, it was minimal. So I am going for the pet :)

I love the forums, so much to read and the benefit cannot be measured.
As the legends in this farm world have said it's good to have more than one Howie on a field <yeah one of many of my collecting dreams to get, now I have a shot being able to play for them>
I am aiming for that Howie then the flyer, all buffs are good buffs. But as to moving them I plan on using 1x1's ep givers for that, as I never remember to leave a open area for them, but an ep giver stands out, I will see how that works for me, the plant crop different than what's there busts just confused myself, the empty square just had me thinking why did I miss that and a tree got slammed into it so fingers crossed this idea will work, thank the stars membership is free in the 40 watt club or I would forget that too:p

I would go for Howie too. It's a real shame there was no warning about the removal of the dragon and nightmare egg - they were great prizes.

I'm still vascillating :p, I have a terrible time making up my mind:wuerg:xD. I appreciate all the great input, as mingling said, it's invaluable:inlove:. I couldn't remember what exactly the squirrel gave, so I looked it up in the FAQs, and it gives 250EP/BEP + 30% EP on event crops for 20 minutes. Not exactly the greatest benefits, you'd only get to capitalize on them at most twice a day :(. Cute as he is, I think I'll pass on the little fuzzbutt for now. Whilst looking at the FAQs, tho, I got to thinking. If they're starting to put the pets as prizes, which is fabtastic if you ask me, maybe they'd get around to the Rainbow Dash pet??? I have it in spots, that was the first event I ever finished completely there, just for that giver, lol, but I don't think this farm was up and running yet, and I am forever looking for cheap Pinkie Pie Pies here, and that would be my dream pet here:inlove::inlove:. So now I can't decide, Howie or save for possible future Rainbow Dash xD. Am leaning towards getting Howie and immediately starting to work on saving chips for any future pets.;)

I agree, TC. There was an announcement in the Events section about the nightmare pet being removed, which I failed to notice until after Renzo closed up shop , but I didn't see anything about the dragon at all.:(

Howie Donut gives a 5% boost to all drops, not a big difference by itself, but you can place multiple Howie's on all growing fields (except Moonlight)! So 3 or 4 Howies can up your drops 15% to 20% which does help. My LL Rune is at 29% & I have 3 Howies so my drop boost is 43% when I put out the Howies!

Having to move them is annoying so I usually only put them out during events when extra drops are needed. Since that usually means growing event crops and I'm using 1x1's & CAC I don't save spots for them. I'll go to my 1st field and harvest 3 of the 1x1's, delete the fields, place the Howies, go to the 2nd field and repeat steps 1&2 then return to the 1st field (to allow system to register Howies) then harvest, delete Howies, go to 2nd field and place Howies, go to 3rd field and repeat steps 1 & 2, return to 2nd field harvest and so on until all fields are harvested including Baha.

Yes I know it seems like a lot (that's why I only use Howies during events), but a 43% boost to drops compared with a 29% boost. Once you've done this for a few events & your not stressing about drops it is worth the effort.

EDIT: Now I know this cold I've been fighting with for the last 2 weeks has done a number on my brain. 29% LL rune + 15% Howie = 44% not 43% LOL! And I majored in accounting in college, how's that for an addled brain! I had enough Renzo coins so picked up another Howie, my 4th. So a 20% boost to my drops!

If I had to choose between the two, I'd select Howie Donut.

My personal preference is to save my tokens and wait for the next time they change gifts as I find this pet to be very underwhelming and Howie to be something which isn't needed to actually complete events.

I'd go for the Howie (already did actually :p). I don't need them for completing normal events and often don't use them. But for events like the upcoming fishing event, where more drops = more prizes, they are great :D One Howie doesn't make much difference, especially not if you leave it on one field. But with a handful or more, there is a very noticeable increase, and the more you have the more rewarding it is lugging them around. Another thing, if you are not interested in the Howie yoursekf, you can always trade it away during G&T, they are valuable trade objects :)

Thank you everyone for your input:inlove:. I decided to go ahead and get Howie, just in case he's not offered again next time (I sincerely hope he is, tho, I didn't have time to get another on spots:p), and immediately set to work rebuilding my chip stockpile, lol. Hopefully I'll be a little better at remembering to move him for the fishing event.xD

Each donute only gives a 5% increase in drop rate. This is small enough that you likely would not notice it, but it is there. If you put all your howies in one field, then move them to the next field before harvesting, you may begin to notice a difference since they compound. Just remember that if you have the auto tree harvester, make sure you put them on the field with the most trees to start. (since they harvest as soon as you enter the field, not giving you a chance to place howies first).
