Hooked on Fishing strategy

Thank you Woody and Dienstag for the advice. I still have no idea which cloud row to get lol
But I really do appreciate hearing the pros and cons of both.
I guess I'll see where I'm at coin wise on the last day and then decide

 

So this morning I decided to stop putting out a full field of only 1 type of animal as I was not getting great results from it. Instead I've put out a mix from sheep and up using every colored stall I have. Makes it difficult on timing the harvest and some pens are likely to sit a bit before I harvest them but at least I'll have a well stocked barn in the end.

I'm up to 547 coins using a mix of premium and regular lures. I think I will get the new CR and I hope to get a few of the miscellaneous items as well.

 

I now have a full CR, choc pancake and Baha trees. My islands both have animals on - a mix of oranges, reds and classic II and they are yielding quite a few lures so I am only slightly ahead on hooks at the moment. So for those of you struggling with lures maybe try putting your island to animals? The metal discs are elusive, but I'm doing okay. I've been using a mix of premium and deluxe.

 

Question.....What is a "Crafting Box"? Does it provide a hook etc and place it in the barn. I looked for crafting boxes in the barn but to no avail....I received 2 crafting boxes from the fishing cloud row Thanks in advance!!!
I am all for an SOS thread!! I hardly get hooks regardless of the crop length and numerous trees.
I have sent out IGM's to my neighbours and friends to please send hooks!!!

 

007, The crafting box is found in your Deco Tab under consumable goods. It has sugar, salt, herbals, wires, or mandrakes in it.

007 I have the opposite problem. Hooks I have, but feathers...UGH
to be exact I have 109 hooks and 0 feathers lol

 

I feel your pain!!! I currently have 122 hooks 159 metal discs but only 9 feathers. I wouldn't mind, but, my entire farm consists of stables, workshops and trees (I only grow crops during events that require me to), and feathers are supposed to be dropped from....... stables and workshops!! I hope they can sort out the balance as this problem is spoiling what could be a really fun quest.

Thus far, I have tried all lures and has resulted in Marlins on any hook! I have not caught more Marlins on the Deluxe lure in comparison to the Fishing lure. The benefit to the Deluxe is of course you are rewarded with 3 for your catch!!!!! I have managed to catch 2 Marlins with the Premium lure a couple of times and once with the Deluxe
I have purchased the two cloud items, pond monster and best friends, and they look sooooooo wonderful in their new floating home

Whooeee, this one is sure a struggle!!! drops are fairly balanced but sure are slow to come. Guess I was spoiled by the easy events

I guess I'll just keep plugging along.

 

Did anyone counted the results based on number and types of lures ?
Last fishing event the average percentage, from sampling i've got, was like this (it didn't matter where you clicked):

Top fish (rarest) : 11.99%
Medium top fish: 14.12%
Lower fish: 30.83%
Bottom fish (most common): 43.05%

 

I've fished 50 times with premium lures. Most of the time I landed on the perfect spot and a few times on the good spot, never on the weak spot. Here is what I got:

In average I got around 20 points per premium lure, very happy with that But I also got a lobster on the good spot, which is not supposed to happen I have used up all my metal discs for now, so I'll have to make deluxe lures next.

Anyway, I think it is an improvement on the previous fishing the minnows were much too common then

I was not prepared for this event really...was busy producing animals all over, so got a good start with the feathers but need the hooks and especially the discs. I admit I have only been skimming this thread hurry hurry but stumbled over a few posts... Thanks Mir for the tip on the zoom thing - I would not have caught these great fishes with my motor function if it wasn't for you

Broke A whale you say? haha You must have done the entire event by now catching one that big

I still haven't gone fishing more than the 4 initial tries. I only log in to harvest and plant so I have drops not sure if they are enough. Tomorrow after school I will try to play a few times.

 

I have only been using the deluxe lures and I have all but 1 or 2 of the misc gifts now I will have to try for the new CR

 

Here is my tactic update. This morning I harvested my trees as I Tried a mixture of Trees of Super Trees, 20 Hour Trees and XXL Trees. It took several XXL Trees to get a Metal Disc i would say about 5 to 6 of them but used bit less XXL Trees to get Fishhook which is more easy to obtain than a Metal Disc.

Each Super Tree will give you 1 Metal Disc and 1 Fishhook Each as can use Suzy Turbo Mulch to speed up growing time. The Trees on Main Land Fields gave an fairly ok amount of Drops of Metal Disc and Fishhooks but Trees on Island and Rain Forest gave better drops of Metal Disc and Fishhooks. Which gave me about 120 Metal Disc and 140 Fishhooks. Which gave ample stock for me to mill several Premium Lures.

Today I placed 20 Luggage Workshops and 20 Moustache Saloons to Test to see how many Lure Feathers i would get. First harvest of Moustache gave me 8 Lure Feathers but took about 5 Hours to grow, I got 12 Lure Feathers from 20 Luggage Shops took about 6 Hours to Grow, Used Cloud Rows and Buffs to Speed up Production time. Bit Better Results compared to Animal Stables of Same Growing Time. But These Workshops are bit costly to do in terms of Feeds and Animal requirements !!! But doing Animal Stables are cheaper to do !!

Fishing outcome has is still a Hit and Miss, did get some Marlins in Sequence, plus mixture of Other Fishes seem to be getting Blow Fish often. There is not Point Trying to Get a Perfect Catch as i getting Marlins with near perfect Catches. My Tip Try not to land in same spot try land just before or after your last Catch seem to doing the Trick and Increased probability of getting Marlins.

I have got 1235 Points so Far. I am aiming to get at least 1500 Coins. It now just less than four days left of this Event. I keep Pressing on knowing can get some surplus EP Givers saved for Next Barter and Gift Event. I will buy all Miscellaneous Gifts Except for Pinkie Pie Pie as i got loads of them in Stock

Here is Tip for Newbies I would use the coins to get both Cloud Rows unlocked as a Priority as if event ends with not enough coins to get all EP Givers as you can always get these at Barter and Gift Event

 

I have fished with 2 lures, 26 premium lures, and 10 deluxe lures and now have 780 points. Enough for the cloud row and givers. On to working on misc items. Pulled out some stables/workshops and replaced with trees to increase the metal disc drops. I am so thankful for the builder as there would be no way I could rearrange my farm so frequently to try to find the best balance for the drops. I don't have as many points as what some have posted but still think I can get some lovely things from this event in the days remaining.

Today I was able to mill 25 Deluxe Lures. Using this lure has been my only strategy and these are my first milled. I've set up my farm to have Animals and Product Pens in the Rainforest, Bahamarama Main Island, Glade, and Meadown. My Main farm is filled with Crops. I have found that this distribution is what I need in order to get a relatively equal amount of Lure Feathers.

With my 25 lures I was able to cast 23 Perfect Casts and 2 Good Casts. I am happy to report that I did not get any fish that wasn't specified on the chart, which has me believing that the event is working as intended and that the issues have come from misunderstandings. However, I'm still very unhappy with the current drop rate of Lure Feathers.

These are the results of my fishing:

9x Marlin
6x Octopus
9x Pufferfish
1x Parrotfish

Multiply each by 3 due to the lure I used and I was able to collect 972 coins. I am confident that I can reach all of my goals, but it will not be easy or stress free. Good luck to everyone else out there.

 

Mooboy Your idea for newbies is perfect. I think that is exactly what I need to do.
I have 250 coins now so getting both cloud rows open and hoping to get the givers during G&T is brilliant.
