Hooked on Fishing strategy

I did a last minute fishing and hurry hurry spending the coins in the shop...got all I wanted + extra givers and somehow managed to end up with just one coin and didn't even buy the sticker. Yippee

I also got lobsters a couple of times using premium lures and landing on the good spot.....BUT....I did get a Marlin TWICE landing waaaay out of line to even catch a lobster so this fault goes both ways....with more apportions to the low motor functions like me (sorry I can't help laughing even though it's not funny when it doesn't work as it should)

The odds were better than last event. We could at least aim for the sky and land on the tree top.

But I still can't understand how to click a perfect catch. I got several perfect catch. But it did not work the next time. So just aimed for green circle and too whatever came. I should also be honest. Once I thought I did not click the green circle but I got a perfect catch. Several times I thought I clicked the perfect spot but got lobsters. I still can't understand or comprehend ....... may be more fishing event will help... I played without understanding

 

I got everything I wanted and some extra givers to replace some of my lower givers on shipwreck. So happy here; I gave up trying to hit the mark and just landed anywhere and found that the further I was from a perfect catch the more likely I was to get a Marlin! Oh, and I did get the sticker as I had 36 coins to spend, so I got the sticker and the pinkie pies just because...

 

Both of my farms did well following the excellent advice in this forum. I was very surprised that my little farm, with far less resources = fewer drops, ended up with more coins and was able to get both cloud rows and all of the givers. I wish we had in addition to which fish we caught, a pop up with which fishing spot we landed. So many of what visually looked like good, not perfect spots, netted marlins on the little farm that it was impossible for me to guess what to aim for.

I really enjoyed this fishing event. The strategy that ending up working out well for me was for first few days put mostly stables everywhere. Then was lucky enough to get 100% harvest bonus which I used to get inventory up to over 700 of those darn snakes. I hate those things! Then I switched to all trees on the island with long term crops on the mainland and meadow keeping stables in the glade which gave me enough hooks to catch up to my lures. Then the fishing fun began.

In the end this turned out to be a very nice Event for me, although it did not work as explained in the FAQs - thanks MSB for the video showing why we were all frustrated

I did get 1733 coins in the end. A lot of fishing as I only started yesterday but I found Mirs tip about zooming so helpful, thanks Mir it worked a treat!

How did I spend my coins: new Cloud Row, 2 Best Friends, a Pond Monster, a Fishing Fun, all trees and stables, PF (sorry 12ss this is what I ment in the answer to you not SG, only just noticed), an extra of both Net Fishing and Strictly come fishing + the Sticker! I hope you also got that one Arq!

YESSSSSSSSSSSS i got my kingfisher

 

I was really happy by the end of the event. Things seem to gel part way through and both the drops and results from fishing got better. Didn't get everything but did manage to get all of CR1, the row from the new CR, wonder stables & trees, PF and the machinery coupon from the misc shop. All good!

Now I'm just hoping that by the next gift and trade I'll have enough stuff to start trading for the new CR givers.

 

I got the new CR and everything from the misc shop except for the GB, stars and chocolate pancakes plus an extra pond monster, strictly come fishing and something in the water. I know my trees were all XXL's and I didn't get any yellow workshops but I can't remember any other details so must have been just more of the same. All in all a pretty successful event.
