    True courage
    Is having the strength
    To stand for what is right
    When the whole world says you're wrong.

    Thank you, Ariel. It's a spots original. Trying to get back to my writing :p, been away too long (I wrote it for my husband:inlove:). I love yours too, especially since I'm so good at failing, lol.

    Keep writing spots and share more with us, if you want. I think it's the best quote in the 2 pages of your new thread! I like it a lot because it describes what I am trying to do. A lot of times I have to support my opinion when everyone else is against me. Actually not everyone is against me but the ones who are with me don't have the courage to support me, so I have to do it on my own. I am mostly referring to my school's elections but not only this.
    The quote I posted was not original and I am sure spots you are not good at failing;)

    There is a prose poem written in 1927 by American writer Max Ehrmann that I love and try to live by. It's too long to put here and I don't know how to put a link on here, but if you have time look it up on the internet. You may find it useful. It's called, 'Desiderata'. :)

    Thank you Spots and sanddollar for posting it. :D:inlove: I've got a big poster of it on my wall and I try to read it every couple of days. I try to live by some of the things it says, but, I must confess, I find myself failing more than I care to admit. :cry: That's why I reread it so often. :) I hope you enjoy it. Thanks again for posting copies of it. :D:music:

    It makes me happy that you found encouragement in what I wrote, Ariel. Your encouragement encourages me, if that makes sense, lol. It's something to be proud of if you're standing up for what you believe in school, that strength will carry forward into adulthood:inlove:. It's not always easy to do the right thing.

    Thank you both for introducing such an wonderful poem. The poem gives me strength and conviction. Shows what true value is.
    Another inspirational poem by Rudyard Kipling
    If—

    BY RUDYARD KIPLING

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

    My brother introduced the poem (IF) to me, doc. Needless to say, it created such an impression me. One of the best poems that I ever read. Everytime you read it. It gives you new strength and insight.

    True, Doc, very true. You never know how someone's day is going, so giving them a kind word, or just saying thank you, can have a huge impact.

    If you wish for a smile,
    Smile.
    If you desire courtesy
    Be courteous.
    If kindness and compassion
    Are what you are in need of,
    Be kind and compassionate.
    It takes nothing from you
    To treat others the way you wish to be treated,
    But returns blessing upon blessing
    To you and those around you.
