Thoughts? I have not opened this craft yet, but am thinking now might be the time.

Thoughts...... I must say I am still working the wrinkles out of the other crafts :p I am thinking of just opening it to let the build up of mandrakes go up till I figure out if it's worth the paint pallets. I mean 5% chance on howie is low, but 4%? What benefit is 4% to the cost of a paint pallet?

Ming, the paint palettes are no longer needed after the sync (tomorrow, 18th)

    My thoughts on it..

The craft products were very expensive to produce. Taking out the gnomes as a basic ingredient really is an improvement. Yet it'll still take some good funds to make the crafts (higher level crops/prodcuts are needed) but the rewards of the crafts improved as well.
As I understood: Instead of having to create and place a 2x2 gnomegarden on a field to make it work for that one field only, we now get a buff which will work on ALL specified fields (main/baha) without taking up valueable grow space.
As some Alchemist crafts do provide buffs for shortening the growtime for the categories "Other" and "Grain", these crafts are simular to the Farmwheel CRs which provide goodies for flowers and veggies.
I admit getting a -4% or -6% or- 8% cutdown on time isn't the one thing to aim for but hey, combine those buffs and they might become worth the effort crafting, esp. during events.

Another thought: keep in mind game improvements usually don't pay off instantly.
Right now the Alchemist crafts aren't on the market. I expect they will be before the year is over.

Especially on the veggies, habalala. Myself, I like the idea of shortening any crop. And all recipes being on silver slots instead of gold, is a huge plus.
I liked the idea of the alchemist in the first place and was loving the idea of shortening a crop growth up to 30%, even at the expense of less space for crops.
However, due to the huge amount of paint palettes, I abandoned the alchemist completely.
Now, we can only shorten a crop up to 10% (or 9.76% in the worst case), but paint palettes are completely off the hook.
True, they were substituted by truffles, riding lessons and other products that I don't remember.
But at least, to be effective, we only use much less than the total amount of paint palettes.
EDIT: Just to understand what I'm saying, using all three fields to grow a certain crop, you would have to put one gnome in every main field to shorten 6%. (Otherwise, it would apply to the field where the gnome was put). Three gnomes would be 15 paint palettes (and three 2x2's less space to grow). Up to 30% it would be 75 paint palettes (and 15 2x2's less space to grow).
Now, one recipe going directly to the slot, it applies to all main fields instead of the one where the gnome(s) was put.

I can only see advantages, especially combined with refinements and the party wheel CRs.
I think (or rather hope) that it will be a matter of time before they'll go in the market.

But unless I looked it wrong, I don't think ingredients are more on average than any other trade.

Arq, in the faqs there is not a mention of either a "suggested market price" or exchange value for any items in that trade. Although a market for them could be developed, the lack of either suggested MP or EV leads me to think there is no plan in the near future. Who knows.

From a quick review here I agree with all which has been explained. The only addition is that one may wish to seriously consider use of that trade's products during events. Of course it all goes back to time reduction again. One will have to determine the cost/benefits.

A little coordination with crops, refinements, and RL and I feel certain we'll be able to identify productive uses.

  6. The actual implications of the Alchemist makeover will only become evident with a little experimentation.
However, the cumulative use of time reduction buffers could lead to some fairly interesting results.

For example the use of Elixir of Life and Source of life leads to a 10% reduction of time for flowers.
This by itself could be an alternative to the use of manure during the drop hunting in events.... Probably cheaper also.

Adding the effect of Party ticket Magic Stalk Row 1 we reach to 20% time reduction for flowers.
(the effect is actually additive within the same frame, not multiplicative)

Possibly also, we will soon see similar Party ticket rows for other types of plants.

    PS
The Alchemist products will be sold on the market.
    It has been clarified elsewhere.

Ahhh, thanks habalala, I opened it cute goat.

I have all the buffs on a spreadsheet now just to read it more to try and understand it :sleepy: not my strong point.
Glad the pain pallets will not be an issue, working on another project to figure out what works when and with what man it's complicated!
    My head hurts.

I've seen two and neither has enough information for one to craft what may turn into a profitable craft product. There is information missing on all the crafts and this one is the worst.

Unless one is a craft specific farmer or intends to use a specific item for a specific crop or crops, I do not recommend developing the Alchemist craft at all.

That guessing game of craft product market valuation is like buying and producing based on wild hunches. There is far more success to be had in terms of efficiency and profitability if one uses wild hunch reasons secondarily and sophisticated methods primarily.

I recommend playing and producing based on the crops and not some finised Alchemist item. Each to their own.

  9. I fully agree with you.
I have all crafts at level 5, but almost never bothered selling my craft products on the market.
It is much more profitable to buy and sell products utilizing the price fluctuations in the market.
You do not use own resources and certainly are not limited by your farm size.

    PS
I fully developed the Alchemist craft when it was cheap.

Since they Announce That Alchemist will be revamped. I started working on Alchemist as it is the last and less effective craft for my Farm.

I am Currently at Level 4 of Alchemist. Just Mainly Focus on Crafting Products to Help Level up Alchemist. Now we will be able to sell these Products in the Markets. I am Predicting these will sell well in the Markets to those who have little stock of Mandrakes.

In The Past you have to unlock Alchemist using Stars. Now you will be able to unlock Alchemist Through Renzo Fair I am really Please to here that all of Garden Gnomes i have created will be converted back into Ingredients I have consumed out of my Barn.

I am Looking forward to my Alchemist Refunds of Ingredients. Put All my Paint Pallets to better use or even make CC in the Markets. I can re use these Ingredients to produce Products that i can sell to the Markets.

But I may use these to be added to Hoarding my Stocks of Flowers,Grains,Vegetables or Others on Top of the Refinements I already have unlocked or use Baha Vegetables to be combined using it with Tiki Timers :D

Didn't notice that we don't have any exchange value, Broke... So maybe you're right.

Lately, I've been buying most of the artisan products I use in the market. Only use a few, though. And just because it's easier to buy in order to maintain my barn well stocked of workshop products. When recipes depend solely on crops and trees, I usually do it myself unless I'm out of it and need it right away.
Myself, I don't consider using alchemist products in short or medium crops, often.
Actually, I don't know in practical terms how much I will use the alchemist reduction products.
What I know is that I will use them for growing long crops in events that require drops. Just like you very well suggested.

I only use CAC daily (when I'm growing crops, that is). Maybe, the alchemist will be a trade that I will use more often (overall) than any other trade. Since I have all the important refinements on any crop longer than 10 hours, this will be a nice addition to stock my barn with long crops spending less time growing. Like mooboy said.
But again, we'll have to test it in practical terms.

Not recommending to open the new Alchemist trade is a bit extreme, don't you think? ;)
Because of the market, I'd say that it applies to any trade and not just the alchemist. (Especially, when there is a CR that gives CAC, every two days). What do you say? :)

EDIT: Myself, I don't see that I will use time reducing in bahamarama. Most of the long crops are "other" category and we can't reduce more than 4%. But who knows!

I don't think so. We can't unlock the spa spa from Renzo's fair, so why the alchemist? Anyway, I can't see that announced anywhere...

I opened the Alchemist when it was announced there would be a re-vamp. I have since gotten up to level 2. The quest to build your level 2 Alchemist rewards 12 Apprentice Gnomes. I expect to get 12 Paint Palettes when the conversion is made. Just an observation.

Well, all the recipes are in the market. :)
But I don't see any refund or all other secondary products I had...:(
No stress, no worry. I'm sure they'll fix that, soon. 8)

EDIT: The alchemist shop has now been changed, but the products haven't been exchanged yet. I still have mandrake gnomes in the inventory. So, I guess it's just a question of time. :)

Well, it wasn't announced too well but with the revamp ALL alchemist crafts instantly became buyable and sellable in the market. Another oppertunity to shorten growtime on crops and to make more CC, either by ingredients or final craft, came alive.
Farming duties are calling upon us. Enuf said.

    Keep smiling!

    Arq,

I didn't recommend not to open the Alchemist trade. I recommended not to develop it. By openning it one begins to accumulate drops (mandraks) and one may later choose to develop the trade if it becomes beneficial. Merely openning the craft allows for drop accumulation with no effort or expense.

I see several of the craft products on the market. (I'll hold further comments for now.)

There are two terms used in the crafts which lead to confuse interpretation: Suggested Market Value (SMV) and Exchange Value (EV). The crafts are the only place where SMV is used. EV with subsequent proper analysis can be used. EV analysis use is not common. I have found many quit elementary uses being made. It's kinda sad to know it's being done. But at least it is a beginning for some.

To apply EV analysis and begin to think about SMV one must have the information. Thus far this has been a hide-and-seek game in this area.
    • There is no complete list anywhere which is official or not
    • A few have EV most don't
    • Many have SMV, a few don't
    • The terms are not the same from all information I have been able to gather and openly asking in the forum.
    • If you look in your barn you may see some do have EV listed there. If you don't have the item or cannot produce it to see the EV you will not be able to find it there.
I love your work with refinements. I reviewed it carefully and casually work towards what I see as key. I rarely grow so no real necessity. The use of refinements and alchemist products together will definitely prove beneficial. No question as to the beneficial results during events through the use of long time crops. Same old game, back to cutting time.

I just don't like that hide-and-seek game which is being played and has been played for a long time in the artisan area.

My focus will remain on the ingredient crops and products gubd raising in the trade for now.

Nice improvement overall. Class of crops is important depending upon the use . Too much game playing with information regarding specific alchemist product information and I choose to use what I will use strategically and efficiently.

    ---edit-----

Too late to do it now, but I KNOW I was not the only one who was leveling up the Alchemist for free. The exchange was a dead giveaway. RL stopped me from really taking advantage of the opportunity but I got what I could get for free with the RL time I could put into it. Goodbye Gnomes.

broke, you can find the SMV here (click on the link in that post). You'll have to click on the magnifying glass to the left of each product, the SMV is listed under "Gegenwert".

I had 5000 mandrakes in the barn. Level 1 went quickly, Level 2 in progress, little if any pain so far...
