I suppose that I was lucky. I did grow 5000 more crops of each to be sure and at the final I have 12 waves, 8 circles and 6 triangles more than what was require. I did all my crops in 3 days with 2 coupons of harvester helper (48hours and 12 hours). All in 1X1 land and with CAC. All the rest of the event I just put my longest crops with water and manure to get the drops.

But I also hate the randomness of event, it's not a fun parts of the games, it's the worst part. And for farmer that are starting and don't have much space or much chutney apple carrot or helper harvester coupon, it could be very frustrating to get the amount of crops needed in events.

And finish events is, for my parts the aspect of this game that I like the most. So please BP, eradicate every random aspect of your game!

That awful moment when you realise you have grown enough crops and have enough keys but THEY JUST AREN'T THE RIGHT KEYS to get the three givers AND the cloud rows. Not even if you refresh the window. That was just abysmal.

Next time I see random, absolutely no supergrow, etc getting spent on it. I reallly feel for anyone who knocked their pans oot trying to complete it and ended up with all the wrong keys anyway.

Well, add me to the score of unhappy players... I had one door left, but couldn't finish because I was short 2 wavy keys. 20 triangles left and 10 circles. Was stuck for 3 days in front of one door (not the last one) because of lack of wavy also. Most triangles I got in a row were 17. That's not anywhere near random, the odds do not match up. Tried both exchanging for several at a time as well as waiting anywhere between 15min to several hours with no real difference in results (which I didn't expect, but tried just because). There's been no down time on my farm, I had plenty of event crops but ended up short on drops in the end. With trophies at 28/29 that's not something I'm used to happening unless I mess up somehow, or am only able to do part of an event. Not willing to pay BB just to be able to finish a week long event that I've played all the way through. Neither do I feel like I should have to beg for drops in the SOS thread when there are low level players and those with RL difficulties preventing them from participating fully who potentially need them more, that's simply not happening.

I actually love true randomness and a bit of a gambling aspect so when the FAQ came out I was really looking forward to this event even though the prizes weren't all that exciting, and before we knew how off the chance percentages would be, I thought the players complaining about randomness in general were unnecessarily negative. Had the odds not been this skewed I would've wished for more events like this, but if this is what we end up with, then I'll pass. So even though it was in itself a great idea and imo had lots of potential, the execution was terrible.

Liked the graphics also, and the givers were cute so am bummed I didn't get the last one (but most of all because I couldn't finish!) Not being able to fully choose our own path didn't bother me, but I can see why it did others. Wish we got to keep the lobster claws, I liked them on Baha especially.

I loved not having to mill, thank you so much for that! I am hoping you will consider more events with nothing to mill. I really appreciated a completely new game design, it was very interesting. I enjoy a more complex event where strategy needs to be used. Please consider Mir's suggestion to increase compensation for extra event items. One of my farms amassed a huge amount of keys waiting for a triangle for the third run through, (which was okay as it still got the cloudrow and givers). Sadly I miscalculated what would happen at the end time, so the smaller farm didn't get any prizes in a foolish attempt to avoid wasting so many extra keys by waiting to see what it had in total after the last harvest. It seems obvious now that there would be no grace time to turn in crops, but it was a very disappointing discovery this morning. Wish I had listened to Farmer Broke and skipped it on the smaller farm!

BRAVO for trying an interesting new format but in the past year this was the first cloud row I couldn't complete!
Farmerama and games of chance DO NOT work! I was stuck in a room getting triangle, after triangle, after triangle, after....
and needed a circle to continue so I couldn't move on.
It seems that Farmerama games of chance are always a set up for failure. I felt like I was stuck in the party wheel where if there are 10 fantastic prizes there is a 95% chance I'm getting 4 Turbo Mulch or a Lavender Jam.

All in all, terrible event. A total Thumbs Down, I hope this game format is never repeated!
Thanks for the Tiki Calendar, that's a nice surprise.

  6. As I surmised in my previous post, I did not finish this event. I even stayed up late last night, to get in an extra crop, using a lot of Susigrow and Supergrow to cut the time and increase yield. Just to get a final crop put in to use this morning, before I had to go out. Even though I also got an extra crops from the +1 harvester prize, it was no use - all I got were triangle, after triangle, after triangle et al seven times consecutively, then a circle. This meant I couldn't finish because I had randomly too many (though I think consecutively they weren't exactly random) of one and not enough of the others. Thus I wasted, a lot of valuable SG and Susi for absolutely nothing. The event ended today before I returned, so I have two fields of useless plants going to waste as well.

I have also said I am certain the developers do not understand the problems when they have these 'great' ideas about how to make events more interesting - since they just use whatever resources they need and do not test these ideas out properly outside the magic circle of developers and designers.

The suggestion regarding the maximum number generated on a random basis is a great idea and the developers should take note of this.

I think this would have had a high positive rating, if more thought had been put into the planning of the 'random part' rather than relying on 'let's grow enough crops and hope we are lucky to get the right keys to finish'.

Quote NM56 - 'Not sure of what they had in mind to make it more challening but I thought it was a nice change to an event.'
There is a difference to challenging and total reliance on luck - this was the latter. I am genuinely happy that you finished, but I think you were lucky to a degree.

I am one of those high-level players who has an inventory chock full of hundreds of trees, stables (up to and including pink), workshops (up to and including pink), decorations and consumables. However, unlike others, I'm quite happy to get powerfeed, SG and Susi -they save me BBs, (not the tree grow, because for me it's a useless commodity), but the rest - trees, animals, decorations, if I don't get the cloud and consumables I probably won't use - are mostly straight into the inventory. I may not even put out the mystery trees for a while, because mostly they turn into trees I already have in abundance, sorry but more XL or even XXL orange or plum or Strawberry will just join the dozens I have.

This isn't a complaint, nor am I criticising your enjoyment of the event, it's just that I do wish the designers would try being at the coalface (so to speak) now and then. I doubt they ever test their ideas out as normal farmers for a few days (with no machinery to assist and no speeded up growth, nor unlimited resources). This is borne out by the bells and whistles they sometimes add, which add nothing and hinder a lot ie the recent 'innovation' of the additional board on the stalk, which told you only what you already knew, but appeared every time you clicked on a cloud row (thus requiring extra clicks to dispose of it).

However, I digress (something I'm prone to - as my students would tell you with a grin); my point is that this event could have been super fun, instead it was super frustrating - merely because it wasn't thought out properly at the planning stage.

The problem with random is that it affects people randomly. Therefore some people hit the average and got exactly what they needed with no need for extra. Others were extreme and got all the same shapes right through. Many were off average and did not get the requistite number needed (18 of each I believe), even though they had many more than minimum 54 goes at getting a shape. Where you appear in this array is beyond your control and therefore frustrating.

The other effect of random is that if you need a circle and you get a triangle, it does not have any effect on the next time you try and therefore you are equally likely to get a triangle as you are the circle you desire. So try as you might you could get triangles every time.

Me ? I was one circle short and had done 8 or so more than the minimum needed. I ended up missing the bean branch. Annoyed ? Yes. Surprised ? No.

Only mystery - for a random event it did seem that people whobothered to report on this site were getting long runs of the same item. I found that too. I wonder if your random generator is not as random as you thought ?

I agree with everything said here. I was away throughout this event but (darn this FOCD) I managed to grow the crops and get enough drops on both farms and managed the crops and (hard to evaluate once I started donating) all but about 100 drops on the latest farm by Friday with a couple of days still growing and collecting drops. I didn't finish on any of them! I had no idea what I needed and how many crops were still necessary even for a chance of the right key.

I didn't hate this event but I was very disappointed. I may have made it if I was at home but even so, I thought I had done enough to get within a shout of it on both the high level farms but it wasn't to be. Depressing to have CR and two of the givers. :wuerg:

I like a challenge but prefer it with a little more chance to complete - or maybe this is the challenge, to learn that you can't always complete an event. :(

I am up to my last temple (the third door required). Out of 17 keys I have, only 2 are triangles...I just need one more triangle! There either needs to be 1. a more even distribution on keys or 2. a way that you can trade keys (maybe trade 4 current keys for one for example) to help prevent this frustration.

    Thanks

You are still playing Red Heart Beauty ? I thought it finished today at 14:00 CEST
It has gone from the town on my Farm... Please tell me it hasn't come back :wuerg: I couldn't take another DAY OF THAT event:cry:

Well that was a big bundle of disappointment. I haven't been playing for very long and this was the first event I had taken part in. Are they always this difficult?

I managed to finish the event, but with so many older players finding it difficult to finish the random element, I think the mechanism could use some tweaking before a repeat!

No, definitely not! Also, events, in general get easier as you go on (and have longer crops, more pens and trees, etc.) In the mean time, try reviewing the threads in the strategy section for ideas.

I worked on getting the last 2 triangles for over 3 days with no success. Finally, the last day of the event, all I got was triangles. I finished the event and just continued making keys to get rid of all the stuff.

The random aspect is the thing I hate the most in this game. I always have and always will. Too much randomness will probably be the thing that finally makes me leave this game.

Hi all, I agree with everyone who posted. The randomness was awful and I quit the event very early on. BP seriously needs to rethink events like this :p

I beg to differ, I really enjoyed this event and I thought the randomness was Ok, different I agree but it made us think and plan ahead how to get through the rooms. I also liked the graphics, especially when a room was opened and it went dark! You cant please everyone, but I for one thought this event was great, so were the prizes and, even with the randomness, I finished the day before the event ended, using 2x1 plots. Having events all very similar is boring so very well done.

Also very pleased to win a mangosteen tree, thanks!

The event was a disappointment to me.
To begins with, the graphics aren't that great. I was very excited when saw the kitties, but they were not even visible. In each decor there's a giant piece of machinery & if I didn't know it is a kitty under that hat, it could've been anything.
But there were many other great prizes, & I figured out I can get only what I like. Easily said than done. The way it was designed, having to go all the way to the end & then being returned from the start, that made it difficult to choose "wisely", as someone put it in the FAQ.
But the worst, the killer of the event for me, were the keys. I had enough crops to finish most, if not the whole thing, but by the time I was doing my 2nd time around, I got stacked on lvl 5 & couldn't proceed any farther. All I needed was one more triangle key, but instead I kept getting wavy or round ones.
Well, after 12 round keys, I run out of the Red crop. Decided to cut my losses, & go for the square keys, open the left door, & at least utilize the remaining White crops. But by then I had spent most & didn't have enough for the last square key. A lot of work wasted!!!
Ended the event with a dozen+ useless keys.

I didn't finish the event, not the norm for me. The randomness way OK, but there also should have been a way to buy the symbols that you needed if they didn't appear. I like to finish my events, buying the plants still would not generate the symbol you may have needed. If you going to give us random chances, also give purchase power. You do on everything else.

Because of the randomness, the cloud items should be available for purchase at the next opportunity. Only individually, if you have the other items. I don't need another partial cloud row for the next six months.

Finished Ok ahead of time. I read the strategy thread and went through with keys the first time and just square keys the second time to finish the cloud row. I didnt find that to be a problem. I then returned a third and final round with no pressure but managed to get all the prizes using up a lot of the extra keys from the first round. I thought the graphics were good, as I was watching the figurehead change, and too liked a change from the same old same old...... However I didnt have as many spare unwanted keys as some folks have mentioned here, I had a few so I wonder if the randomness relates to anything, e.g. what trophy level we have attained? only the developers will know the answer to that one! It didnt put me off as I continued the event to finish it. I also find it helpful to have two crops of differect growing durations so planting the longer one helps when at work or busy. I wouldnt have been able to finish the total growing amounts without using my CAC!. Well done, I always like a slight change in the events and a personal challenge. Also nice prizes thanks.

I wasn't going to post anything but I was one of the lucky ones and finished well ahead of time. I made all of my keys first and somehow was just shy 2. It took a few more tries but I got my last triangle and wave. Then I did my squares and finished. I grew way too many crops and turned those into extras which I would have loved to donate to someone in need:(:(:( I agree that there was def a problem to some with the randomness. Nellie, all of those trees are rare except the oak. I haven't planted mine but I would love to have another sorb. It does seem though once you get 1 rare tree (however long it takes:p) many seem to gravitate towards youxDxDxD
