About next steps...

@mingling, my thinking is: if I consider some buff useless but other people are using it then most probably I don't understand this buff or some game mechanics. Therefore I question the buff reason of existence hoping that some outraged user will point out my mistake

 

Yup, there are 132 slots available for breeding but like Ming said, there's no need for using them all at the same time. I guess only a very few users ever did, usually at the start of BBD during a breeding event and most likely these users did spend a good chunck of real money to buy the needed PF, which usually is on offer.
Just having the option to use all slots at once is nice but it's equal to having a choice on which crop or animal you want to grow. Can't do all at once!

FSQ breeding quests are an easy way to earn some stars quick. Just skip the urge to do them up to the highest level. Do the first 3 or 4 questlevels for each animal and count your blessings.

Later on in the game you can always decide to breed more, during BBD only ofcourse.

 

Exactly what I was doing to get Rainforest - especially since some of them have double amount of stars! But now I am out of cheap breeding quests

 

And that is when it bite's, you got to work it and work it good!
As and how you play will be what is a waste right now, look up spreadsheets in the past posts, you will be able to map out every buff, try it, see how it works for your play then keep or toss em.
I never use a lot of the buffs but others I can't get enough... I gasp even buy them. A not by the hair of my chinny chin chin move on keltic farm.
You may just say toss that and go the farmer broke way, get by market or not have it at all, I at a 34/17th percent do this just now like a year into this got to see how some crops look like as they grow, till now I bought every single one I ever used, took too long to grow.
But now, for an unrelated reason I am growing them, and those buffs refinements runes are the best investment I did.
A shortcut? none really, in the beginning you got to work that farm, you can skate, till a point, but unless you go broke_ you got's to work it.

 

Well Fluffy, I am not breeding to the extreme...but I rather be able to breed, for me , its every 15 minutes when I use my pink jelly...jst some advice...use it or discard it.

 

I would not breed without using Pink Jelly (cut's time in half), as the Pheromones run out so fast (which cuts time even more)! Tend to like to get it done! Also the Rune and Cloud row even more time cut, down to about five minutes with all these activated.

 

Original breeding time is 6 hours, one of the runes reduce it to 5 hours, then pink jelly halves the time to 2.5 hours. To get down to less than 20 minutes you have to apply pheromones in addition. Pheromones work like water/manure in the way that they have to be applied to each single breeding, so that's very expensive now (when I started playing pheromones where 30cc each). Compared to that pink jelly is really cheap and I think most would agree with me that it is a price worth paying just to have ones curiosity satisfied a little earlier even if you don't need it.

But as others have already mentioned you often don't use the full 132 slots. Say you are breeding for an event quest and don't want to spend more PF than you have to. You might start out with a big first round of breeding, then you check what you still need. Because of possible skips you don't know exactly how much you'll need to breed to get the required animals, so you breed a few more, and a few more and a few more until you get there. Then it is nice to not have to wait 5 hours between each breeding.

Lastly, the breeding house where we can breed at any time is a new addition from the end of 2015. Before that we had special breeding huts that had to be placed on the fields. Then they were taking up valuable farm land and I didn't want to keep them out longer than necessary, so pink jelly was essential

 

pink jelly is easy to make...cheap to buy. if u hve phermone trees that helps with that issue...i always use the four pheremones

 

Another breeding question: on many players screenshots I see that they breed not 4 identical animals, but 3 identical + one higher lvl. Is tehre any advantage of this?

 

oh fluffykiss i think u know better than that...u can do it...but it seldom if ever works in ur favor...

 

Well FAQ says that it is risky, as you can get animal that is lower lvl than the highest you put in. But again... if many ppl are doing this then... Great Scott, why?

 

elimeno, why would fluffykiss "know better"? this is the first BBD since he started playing last month...

I don't know fluffy, I have never done it, but some seem to think they get good results from it. I have seen some screenshots too, but I don't know how common it is (or how common it is to get a good result).

 

It is not advised to do so unless you already have plenty CCs and/or higher level breed animals which you do not know what else to do with.

 

I have seen some impressive screenshots where it did work out but I know more of instances where it did not work out and the value of the highest animal was lost. I have never done it and would not advise it either. Some players like to take the gamble and see what happens. I am much more conservative.

 

well that kinda runs along the same lines as why do we need 4 animals to breed...last time i looked takes just 2...some have evolved and can do it on their own

* Baby boom on tree activated
* Event done
* Clouds enabled
* Confectionery built
* General gorgeousness improved

Now... I have one set of neon givers, but I have enough PF to get the second one and I am thinking about this. The question is: should I do this or save it for some other event? And if I should then how to do this effectively? Event animals prices are falling down, so maybe I should just breed some nice animal for pen upgrade? Any ideas shich one should it be?

The new set of neon givers are the very best given out so far, highest TEP/square. Just therefor those are worth going after.
How to make the best use of the PF on hand is any players decission. Some like to use breeded animals for FSQ, others love to sell them to gain CC, some save up lower level breeds in case they are called for in (breeding) Events. To spoil worthy breeds on pen upgrades seems a nice treat for high level players.

Yup.. there are many ways to spend and use your PF wise and not so wise during BBD. Which one you choose is up to you!

PF also cuts production time on pens and workshops in half. Might come in handy there as well (esp. prior to events!)
